Will you catalog things that were unavailable before today? Ie. Seraphim Superior et al?

I'm surprised to see so many additional metals missing so quickly after the original wave of NLAs with the specialist range.

BTW, if they take away a product too quickly and you ever forget which one it was, you can always cross reference with the Australian site. :) Given their prices, they haven't sold out of much. Even in the SG category.

Same with the USA, to a lesser extent. Though that's probably attributable to the layout of game stores here, and the presence of competing companies.

edit: I'm still not sure what is more dooming for GW: That products are being removed from the UK site at an alarming rate, or that products are NOT being removed from the North American and Australian sites, despite the inevitable and apparently proximate conclusion that they will be.

*DE Assassine 2
*Drong
*HE Mage on Phoenix Base
*Skink Standard Bearer and Musician 1
*Goblin Warboss on Wolf with spear
*Goblin Boss with Sword and Shield
*Night Goblin Shaman

US:
*Catachan Assault Weapons
*Dwarf Lord with Horned Helm and Hammer
*Helga
*Burlock Damminson
*Goblin Shaman
*Chaos Ogre 2
*Skink Standard Bearer and Musician 2

Australia:
*Catachan with Heavy Flamers
*Stormboy Nob
*Techmarine with Bolt Pistol
*Bretonnian Hero on Pegasus
*Gui le Gros
*Skink Standard Bearer and Musician 2
*Empire Regimental Mascot (Finecast...)

Regarding Australia: they have their own missing sites, like the Sartosa captain and the Scavvie gang.

Well, I don't think I have the time (and passion) for a catalogue, so help would be appreciated. Browsing GW UK, US and Australia is a bit time-consuming. But models missing in one area are a good indicator for the others.

The UK is the home of GW, it has a LEGION of older gamer fans who grew up steeped in all things GW, so the demand here will be hotter and stronger than anywhere else in the world.
There has been GW stores in the major cities of the UK for 25 years, thats a generation of GW growth and development.
In parts of London there have been GW stores in the local suburbs for 25 years. The brand has a deep reaching grasp on the older gaming community.
The borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has had a local store since around 1983.
Back in the day White dwarf magazine used to advertise all kinds of different gaming companies products.

It's such a shame that these products are going, especially with this thread chronicling their demise piece by piece.

As such, I'd like to get one cheap and immature laugh in by pointing you to this (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1490651&prodId=prod1130433) Valhallan Officer's questionable chainsword (My apologies to anyone who takes offense, but it's been a constant source of laughs to my gaming group, so I thought I'd share it, before it was cast unto the warp)

EDIT: I may have misunderstood this post, because I can still see the Mordian missile team

15-05-2013, 12:49
Yeah they're starting to go from the UK site as well now (at least for me, some people may be different)
I sure hope they don't get rid of the steel legion range, considering all they need is a plastic basic infantry kit and you've got a new product line.

I honestly cannot tell why they're getting rid of the Mordians, Steel Legion, Tallarns and Valhallans when Catachans and Vostroyans are still in major production (Don't get me wrong, I don't want those gone to, it's just that I've never seen anyone with a Catachan army and the Vostroyans are the Sisters of battle of the imperial guard)

The other shame is the loss of historical minis, like the Gaunts Ghosts set, The Chancers, Old Nork and Lord Solar (and the Mordian with the Ork head)

What is going to happen to Chekov? Considering he's in both the collectors section and the Troops section of the Imperial Guard

I'm going to be quite upset if the Vostroyans are taken away.
The one army that, arguably, has the largest variety of troops because of the background will soon have just the Cadians and Catachans. That is quite sad.
Glad I got the Gaunt's Ghosts box two weeks ago.

Well, I started this thread for 40k/Fantasy, so SG/LotR is not in the lists.

The IG heads and the Eagle Warriors schoulder pads are not available anymore too.

Other items:
*Fighting Cocks blister of three
*Faramir's Rangers
*Uruk-hai Battering Ram (going Finecast?)
*Citadel Modular Gaming Hill (don't know if this is new)

I have done my second SG panic buy, might do one more at the weekend if there is anything left I want(need:D), hopefully due to the amount of years of these models being on the market it will not send prices on ebay sky high.

Doubtful, yesterday I noticed the (now NLA) teams were straight on Ebay, full teams for about £30 starting price.

Grimstonefire
17-05-2013, 17:57
High starting prices doesn't mean anything if they don't sell.

I've noticed the skaven and lizardmen teams have a lot more interest than others. If I had any of these I'd leave it 6 months then sell.

Skaven team...not so interested in. I think Black Scorpion are making a very nice skaven team, the Lizardman one on the other hand is great, yet all I ever hear people say when I talk about it is 'well you can make it out of the plastics'

Not sure if it was yesterday, but FW have now sold out of everything BFG.

The FW epic stuff there's only a few models left. I've seen the FW warmaster terrain go for a small fortune on ebay, so the landing pad wouldn't be a bad investment for someone I think.

I grabbed one a month or so before the last price rise (just before christmas I think), I am aiming to both paint and (heavily) use it on the coming few years though, so maybe a retirement plan, assuming GW make it through the next few decades and it ends up being worth something...

Dryaktylus

Well it's impossible they sold all the models over the weekend, so either it's a temporary thing with the website or they just made a massive cut (the section is empty in US as well).

I doubt they'll increase the prices of miniature ranges they no longer produce and wanting to leave from the warehouses.

Hum... 40k collectors are still gone. Chaos ones are in the main section of CSM though. And so are most (all?) of the Space Marines.

In case they'll not return an uncomplete list:

40k
*Steel Legion
*Mordian Iron Guard
*Tallarns (except Al'Rahem and Officer)
*Valhallans (except Chenkov if you're inclined to wait 4 weeks)
*Lord Macharius
*Nork Deddog

About the plastic watchtower and temple of skulls, let's not forget that it also happens that they mioght be out of stock for a while of some piece.

As long as they are not marked as unavailable in all countries, we shouldn't worry about them.

About someone posting about the Dark Elf chariot, it's not new, it has been removed for several years now, as it still used the previous ugly cold ones models and was no longer appropriate after the redesign.

I was reading a blog about GW in the late 80s. There were photos of stores, large stores, 4 to 5 times the size of the GW store near me now... with three walls covered from ceiling to floor with blisters and the occasional box.

The current blister ranges could have been squeezed in behind their tills.

Yes, I miss blister-packed miniatures.

And metal minis.

That's what happens when you change from bespoke peices* to self assembly flat pack sadly.

*I know each model wasn't "unique" in a blister back then, but the massive variety of sculpts you could get in each one made it feel like it was.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! (DOES NOT WANT)

It seems the female Dwarf character (I forget her name) is no longer available. The big heartbreaking thing was that I was planning on making it into a nice sentimental conversion for one of my friends (hopefully getting them into Warhammer in the process). Oh well, back to square one...

If we all wrote an email saying please bring back [x], [y], ... [z] (with the implication that we would all be buying at least one of {[x],[y]... [z]}) surely that would make the web-team/GW/Kirby think he could squeeze another £50k out of these moulds?

My heart nearly broke when I saw that the Mordheim "Frenzied Mob" was no longer available. And now GROM!! That was the first metal model I ever bought and I LOST HIM! My PRECIOUS! And now I can't even buy a replacement....

The small part of me that remains naively optimistic and hopeful wishes that some of them will be brought back as finecast (like the Wardancer Noble, since as a fully viable army-book entry it makes no sense to get rid of her), but I don't think that's going to happen, and that in all likelihood I will have to create a time machine and travel back to 2004 at some point.

Did send them an email about the Beastmen warband they pulled from my order but unsurprisingly GW doesn't want money even if they have moulds/masters/whatever. Yeah... no harm in trying. :D

The warband goes for a lot of money on eBay now by the way, one auction ended at 55£. However there actually was a complete set sold as a Buy-it-now for 15£ but Alexchattaway was way faster than me and he is now trying to re-sell it for 199£. :cries:

Sadly not. These were (in general) really excellent terrain pieces at (until the last rise) good prices. The manor was a great looking kit. Hopefully this is a repackaging thing, hopefully not with the associated price hikes...

Pretty much everything bar the vengeance grand cruisers is gone on the BFG front, even the plastic cruisers :/ I was hoping they would keep those on as you can still do the two fleets with those, but :/ those two, especially the imperial one, were my favorite of GW's plastic kits.

If they're smart, they would sell the licence (and maybe the moulds) for a hefty price to FFG. No risk, constant fees, no trouble on the 28/30mm market, advertising for the 40k/WHFB universe...

Gerod253
03-09-2013, 00:42
Agreed. Heck, if I had the tender I'd buy the Tau moulds myself, give them a different name to satisfy GW, then market them as generic human ships. Sadly, I've never heard of Gaw selling a mould or masters for any reason.

Won't happen. It's a nice thought though.

There's nothing stopping anyone from drawing inspiration from the ranges to create their own lines though. I've no doubt that's exactly what will happen in the medium term, before those lines create their own rulesets. It's the way these things seem to evolve, and is a real win-win for the community in the end.

You'd better save them to your computer quick then, I doubt they'll be there much longer.

Necromunda product list is down to showing the pit slaves gang only, and thats 'no longer available'. I imagine it won't belong before they wipe off the 'resources' if there's nothing to sell. BFG is not much further behind

Does anyone actually know why and what has happened to the citadel chapel, the watchtower and the walls and fences kits ? I was going to buy a few more of these and noticed they are gone from the website, although the rest of scenery ( including some metal siege stuff ???? ) is still around, very weird seeing as how the watchtower is needed for one of the scenarios in 8th and well...just the fact these kits are not anywhere as old as the fortress and some others.

Dryaktylus
20-09-2013, 18:11
They're all in the Fortified Manor set. Though it seems it is NLA now...

~Revenant~
21-09-2013, 03:49
No yea the fortified manor, the chapel, the watchtower and the wall and fences are all OOP and I find that strange, I don't recall either in recent years where any "plastic" kits suddenly were out of stock, I can certainly understand other countries outside of the UK being out of stock but not oop, in this case it indeed seems even the uk is out of print.

Sucks as they were decent kits and in some cases needed for alot of fb basic terrain, the walls pack was excellent and the manor itself for the upgrade sprue, wondering if they are working on newer ones as much as I liked them truth be told the chapel itself was actually limited in terms of what you could do with it unless you did some serious gluing and cutting with multiple kits. But the watchtower for sure is part of one of the scenarios and to cut the walls pack is just absurd, deathwatch knell or whatever its called can double as a watchtower I guess ( although probably more suited as a ruined watchtower or painted up dark as a vc /necro tower ), very strange to me.

Selling poorly would surely be an argument to keep them available, to eventually cover their mould cost. I'm also uncertain it involves the webstore, because they are disappearing from shop shelves too.

And how many more skulls could you fit on Skullvane Manse before it's just one big skull?

The disappearance of the terrain couldn't have begun at a worse time for me. I'm supposed to be outfitting a hobby store next month, and i had plans for a few centerpieces using the more impressive pieces of GW Fantasy scenery, most of which have disappeared from sale.

Keeping them around to eventually sell out only works if storage costs don't eat what little profit you can expect in the meantime, which they will past a certain point of waiting to sell.

I presume the logic is that once stock of something runs out, then if sales have fallen below a certain threshold over time, it's simply written-off rather than allocating warehouse space and machine time making more in the hope of clawing back the sunk costs. That's what I presume, anyway...

40K

Adepta Sororitas:
-Sister of Battle Dialogus
-Battle Sister with a Blessed Banner

Both are marked as "Sold Out"

Bad sign for sisters? They are both kinda core models to the range...

Bretonnians were my first, been collecting since they appeared in 5th ed boxed game. Over more recent years I was cutting out the dead wood and replacing tatty plastic with pristine metal. The other day I completed my Bretonnian army with one of the first models that was sold as a Bretonnian back in 1989 - the Chevalier De Notre Dame De Bataille on a bring and buy stall at Triples . Fitting really.

Though of course he'll be hitting the table for a game of Kings of War, rather than anything by GW...

Damn... I really like this model (not many do I noticed), so I guess I should get it on ebay soon (before the RARE!, OOP etc.).

Only some of the Elves/Empire are going. For now. I expect more to follow later...

I have just started sisters of battle...

Risky time to start? I know there are no real rumours either way. Immortalers are very expensive on eBay at the moment.

I was just about to say "don't pay more than £36 as the exorcist kit contains all the immolator parts (except the clear window)" but I have just noticed that the exorcist is out of stock

It's the perfect time to start Sisters if you hate buying on Ebay.
With whole Fantasy range (even 40k products) dissapearing, SoB's days as official products will not last long.

Yeh thanks for the message! Just picked up an exorcist for 20 on eBay and going to save up for two more from gw as they have just come back up. Although I am worried they will silently dissappear from the website with no warning.

I'm really torn, as on the one hand there are a couple of products sitting in the "last chance to buy" section I would actually rather like, and are not that unreasonably priced, even. On the other hand I've been determined for some time not to give GW any of my money so that I don't indirectly reward them for decisions I disagree with. Maybe I'll toss a coin.

Goodbye Orcs and Goblins. Some of the best models ever.

Hello Orruks, which I already hate.

So I was considering some Chaos Space Marine stuff recently and I noticed that the Chaos Space Marines set is now no longer available on the UK site. Isn't that like a really core set for Chaos Space marine players? Whats going on?

Noticed by a fellow member of the Tyranid Hive, the Carnifex has gone unavailable on the UK GW site so a shenanigans could well be a'foot. This doesn't seem to be the world over, and the pair of Carnifex are still available I might add..

I think the totally worth £4 million pound webstore has a habit of saying something is 'no longer available' when it goes out of stock instead of saying 'out of stock'.

I've noticed it seems to do that more for the UK and Europe than it does for North America. I don't know why, but it does.

I also wish that when something has sold out, we didn't get a big sold out sticker over the pics. Maybe some of us still want to take a gander from time to time...

Im using Firefox and there you can right click the thumbnails to have the image open in a new tab without the sold-out overlay.

But you'd best download those images you like, they deactivate the pages after a while...

I wish GW would make up their mind about the Chaos Space Marine squad. One week it is "No Longer Available" the next it is and then the next week its unavailable again and so forth and so on. It's enough to drive someone to drinking.

Maybe they are Scrodinger's Chaos Space Marine, both available and unavailable at the same time. The only way for the website to show this will be to keep flipping between the two...

Well, you know how fickle these Chaos Powers are... you can't follow the Dark Gods and then complain about them changing their minds every few days or so... ;)

The Realm of Battle board is "Sold Out" in Aus and NZ. Anyone heard anything about that? I'd assume that the AOS specific board is out soon and that they don't think they need a "generic" option anymore

Maybe it's because they plan to replace them with a new Realms of Battle(tm) with round rather than square modules ? :shifty:

Would anyone miss the slippery hills?

If it went in for a redesign that would be better! A generic boards always useful though, so I'd be surprised if it was scrapped altogether.

What if you don't want to play in a 40k city or AoS style world? Seeing as they have an option it'd be odd to let it go.

(Obvious answer is to go buy an appropriate sized sheet of MDF and paint/texture/flock to taste but still, in GW terms that's not going to help their sales figures!)

The Black Shield

I'm thinking this is just another screw-up in a long line of screw-ups recently on the GW site. They seem to have a hard time telling the difference between sold out/unavailable and temporarily out of stock.
