Those are cool sculpts, I tried to get one but they were all gone.

Don't think I've ever seen someone do Il-Kaithe, this will be interesting to watch :)

here is a rough pic of my first 2 sample wraithblades, making a mostly wraith army, picked up 3 wraithguard boxes, a wraithknight, a spiritseer and a fighter.

going to spend time taking better pics when i finish the squad

What recipe is that purple colour?

Very interested to see how this plot develops.

Looking real good, but I'm not a fan of the purple on the sword. Would probably look better in a more 'glowing' purple or the same metal as the Wraithguard axes.

Zombiebeatbox
05-06-2013, 11:57
the purple is actually just citadel xeraus purple highlighted with geanstealer purple. yeah im still iffy about the warlocks blade as well, i was considering swapping out both my locks blades with the ghostwswords from the new wraithguard kit

I think that'd look amazing!

Also, the way you did the green is really slick. It looks really vibrant.

Any ideas on how you'll do their bases?

Looking awesome mate!

How did you do the green? looks super!

Zombiebeatbox
06-06-2013, 02:15
the main green is warpstone glow, washed with biel-tan green then worked up with warpstone again and then highlighted with moot green. the cod piece and kneepads are moot green highlighted with 50/50 moot green and white.

I really havnt ecided on bases yet, been scratching my head, was considering buying bases this go round http://www.miniaturemarket.com/swmbat4001.html

One hint: Try not to photograph your models with the window shining from behind. This is really not helpful. Try to photograph them with the window in your back and their front. If you have to go into another room for doing so, so be it. It would really help your pictures as all the reflections from the back make the pictures much less pleasing.

So decided to make my own warp spiders, but need some bits, Looking for 5 plastic splinter cannons from the dark eldar warrior/scourge boxs, or 5 haywire blasters or heat lances from the scourge set and 7 plastic shredders from any plastic kit.

also looking for warp spider exarch jump generators, also need 5

if anyone has any ill buy them or let me know what bits your looking for

Aryllon
18-06-2013, 19:06
I might have all of those weapons, but won't be able to check until sat/sun. Might also have an Autarch jump generator which could be good for the exarch.

It's all in boxes in the UK, flying back for the weekend. Will let you know.

Here is my WIP prototype for my warp spiders. current plan for the gun is dark eldar scourge heat lance arms with a reworked wraithcannon head. The more and more I look at it the more it looks more like ant or a firefly than an ant, if i took the 'mandibles" to the top front more like antennae. So what do you guys think, new age warp spider or create my own count as shrine?

MAD! Very very cool work on the Spider. You've given me a few ideas to try on my own conversions. The warp-pack is very cool (and yeah, kinda ant-like) and the addition on the stabilisers on the legs really adds a touch of realism to it. MORE! NOW!

and here is my design for the deathspinner, decided to go more rifle like, looks neat and the guns are easier to come by. all i need know to coplete the squad are 4 heavy wraithcannon power supplys from the wraithknight kit and a dark eldar shredder.

I demand to know how you made the jump generator!

Also it's early and I can't think where those mandibles are from?

Can you point to pictures of those bits you need - I think I may have some of them spare.

Hendarion
21-06-2013, 08:13
The mandibles are probably Guardian-back-fins.

archie-d
21-06-2013, 08:27
the mandibles look like the arm fins from the wraithblades to me, from the pic it looks like most of the warp jump pack is from the wraithguard kit too, thigh guards, torso. He does look awesome, kudos! I'll look forward to seeing him all put together.

Zombiebeatbox
21-06-2013, 11:21
The mandibles are actually the fin piece from the d-scyths, the backpack is mostly wriathguard and wraithknight pieces. When i start assembling the rest of them i can post WIP pics. the pieces i need are the ones on the right right above the barrel http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELDAR-WRAITHKNIGHT-HEAVY-WRAITHCANNON-BARRELS-CR-/251289001736

This is indeed a very nice Spider. Consider the idea stolen.

However, I can't help feeling you ought to have done something to the arms to make them more like heavy Aspect armour and not DE armour. Either an arm swap or some filing and scultping of Aspect plates. Did you consider it at all?

Zombiebeatbox

Really nice take on the Spinneret rifle, and generally love your take on the warp spiders.

My only misgiving is that the pose looks a little static, though that might just be the picture's angle...

Can't wait for the next instalment!

A'rulain, the Unsung is painted :)

And on the staticness, i was putting some of it in purposely, as i view warp spiders moving very intentionally, i think wearing heavy aspect armor and using warp jump generators would train them this way.

I have to second that motion! I really like the colours you've used on the harlequins and I like that even though you've made them colourful they still look cohesive as a unit. Very impressed, keep it up!

Although one thing I'd have to say is that I think they'd probably look better with black trims to the bases instead of the wraith bone colour. But - that's just a personal preference!
