GW main site has the Dunedain as their sneak peek this week. Am I right in thinking these are plastic?

Just found them myself. Why do you think they are plastic? I would assume that they are metal as I can't think of them as a mass troop choice. They are more of a add-on for the Shire.

Have fun,

Rolf.

The texture on the models and some of the posing just says plastic to me.

Nice though and I do want some.

My guess is that these are the Guardians of the Shire box set. I agree that they look like they will be metal.

I would say metal but I shall enquire. Nice models though.

They are metal. A friend of mine saw them unpainted in April.

Okay that is good as I perfer metal models to plastic models.

Whichsmeller, I agree - these could indeed be the Guardians of the Shire box set that is due for release.

Anyone know when? And the price??

So what's the difference between these and the old Rangers of the North?

Brandir

When compared to the Rangers of the North minis, these new versions look far more dynamic. I doubt there will be any changes in the stats.

According to the gw forums *shudders* when they make the big rulebook, the "one rule book to rule them all" the rangers of the north will have the option to have armour, which is the only reason I can think of, if their not doing another supliment which they say their not.

If this is the case and they do change the wargear I hope they make bows and other ranged weapons optional, so things like, rangers of gondor, rangers of the north, haradrim raiders, riders of rohan etc can actually be used in tournaments as armys on their own without the whole models with bows drawn actually have them thing...

Nice to see you back Xavier

Not sure while they are releasing theDunedain again but I am glad they are as they fit in better when led by Aragron from either the Fellowship or Weathertop box. Plus the models were not that great.

Baggers,

I think that GW have adopted a policy of slowly rebranding and reboxing all the LOTR minis as they move away from FOTR/TT/ROTK towards a more generic LOTR game.

This is a lot more like it. I'm not keen on the 'armoured' ones, more because of the stiff poses than the outfits. Will there be a new Halbarad to go with them too?

Xavier

I hope so, he didnt have the banner while he was still in angmar, so a model without it to use in an army of rangers would be nice

Brandir

I too would like to see a bannerless mini of Halbarad. As GW are releasing a bannerless Boromir Captain of the White Tower, perhaps they will do likewise with Halbarad and the Rohan Royal Standard Bearer Gamling?

they look more plastic than metal to be honest

To be totally honest it could be either metal or plastic. We only have five months maximum till they are released. I am still going for metal but... I could be wrong.

Come on Baggers, when have you ever been wrong?

Come on Baggers, when have you ever been wrong?

Uh 1996 I put 4*20 down as 100 in my year six sats. My parents never let me live that one down.

d'oh, did you manage to pass those sats then?

Brandir

You youngsters with your sats ....

In my day we did the 9+ and 11+ (even though there were no grammer schools ...).

I remember doing the Maths 9+ and getting 99% - the teacher explained he couldn't give me 100% so he decided a 6 was a 0!

Back on track, I think we LOTR fans are in for a treat with new minis over the next few months. Possibly GW concentrating on the LOTR line with the release of the new core rulebook and subsequent minis.

The non-film minis do seem to be getting better, as highlighted by these sneak peaks of the new Rangers of the North.

It has inspired me to start painting my LOTR minis again!

Yeah GW are pushing the bar with some of the models. From what I have seen of the new Rangers (IE that snap shot) the range is getting back to the same level of greatness we had with Fellowship of the Ring.
