View Full Version : Vlka Fenryka - Horus Heresy Space Wolves

Let me start by introducing myself and giving you a glimpse into my Warhammer history. I started playing around my 12th birthday (25 now), one of my uncles bought me a box of Space Marines, at the time I knew nothing about Warhammer but loved to build models, as the year went on I got more and more into the game, going to the GW shop and battling when I got the chance. Ever since I read the first details of Horus Heresy my mine was fixated on that era, the sheer magnitude of the battles, the legends of the Primarchs always left me in awe. When I turned 15 I joined the British Army and left my Warhammer gaming behind me, I spent many years serving and by the time I was out Black Library had gotten into the full swing of releasing the Horus Heresy, the first chance I got I went out and bought Horus Rising, False Gods, Galaxy in Flames I remember spending an entire week lay on my couch getting dragged into the era I always loved as a child, I really never got back into the building side of GW, I was more attracted by the Black Library aspect and the books and lore the Horus Heresy delved into.

As all you know Forgeworld has now stepped up they have begun their campaign on bringing the Horus Heresy to the table, over the last couple of months I've been inspired by player built armies. The Warhammer community is one of the most dedicated and artistic I've laid my eyes on, the work people have created has gave me the motivation to create a Crusade/Heresy era army I always wanted, Space Wolves.

I haven't build an Army since I was around 14 years old, a very long time ago, I'm jumping in the deep end. My plan is to firstly put my models together, give them the look and personality of the Wolves and then slowly start to paint them. I've never been a great painter but if I set my mind to it, read tutorials and give my effort to the project then I can bring the VI Legion to life.

My SGT for the squad:

One of my tactical Marines:

Here is how the squad is looking, still need to add pelts and some fur on the shoulder pads:

Now here is is my jewel, something that I had designed for me by a fantastic artist. What Vlka Fenryka would be complete without the Wolf King? I present Leman Russ:

Because this is more of a display piece I'm having the chaps over at DoI paint it up for me, this is what it looks like so far:

Thanks for reading, I will try and update when I can :)

Stunning start to the log. Great work individualising the miniatures. It's nice to know where you're coming from and your inspiration too. I've been in it for a similar length of time. From 8 (now 24). The old fluff is so cool and Black library are fantastic at brining the heresy to life. Russ looks like the mega badass he ought to.

I look forward to seeing more.

Great start, lovely stuff so far. That probably the best version of Russ I've seen so far and they ain't doing to bad a job of painting him too.

I'll be watching with interest.

Lovely start so far, agree with others about the success of your "wolfy-fying" of the standard legion kits. Really look the business. And that Russ sculpt is just epic. My compliments to your sculptor. :)

Update on my finished Russ, I always intended this model to be a display piece that would sit on my desk but can be removed to slaughter any Xenos or Heretic :)
