View Full Version : Mordheim - Am I getting the best deal here?

Alright then, I'm contemplating beginning mordheim with a beastman warband. Now, the current one contains metal figures for:

1 Chief

1 Shaman

3 Gor

3 Ungor

Eight figures for 20

Now, I've put together my own little warband which costs 22.75. This includes:

1 beastman plastic sprue - 3 gors and 2 ungors - 6

2 warhounds - 6

1 mordheim beastman chief - bits together cost 7.50

1 bestigor - from the chariot, 3.25

A total of 9 figures. for 2 more. If I buy the warhound from an indie I can save 15 on that, and if I decide to buy a regular beastman chief that would save me 1.50 and another 15%.

What do you guys think? Is my list of figures actually practical for a starting warband?

The Shaman is nessesary in a warband that does not have any kind of missiles,but go for it if you like more muscle instead of some magic

When I think of beastmen, I think of brutal force :)

I was going to get a shaman at some point, but not in my starting 500 gp. I could drop the bestigor and get the shaman instead (roughly the same GP, if not real ).

Hmm...I'll have a look at the available models for a magic (beast)man.

1) armor is useless in mordheim, as too many things ignore it.

2) skip the ungors. There's no requirement in mordheim to have any, so why take T3 henchmen when you can take T4 gors?

Honestly!

Hounds aren't bad, but only use em for some fast attack. If you can afford it, get more gors.


Also, get heroes to start. They're the ones who make you money in the post-game. Get more, so take the shaman. (Ditch the armor to buy him)

Because could you use Ungors Models for Gors?
and wasnt mordheim to have a fluffy and fun game?

if your group plays for fun exclusively, more power to ya. I personally love it, but not enough people play that way.

I had a Shadow Warrior Band that started with 5 models, and loved it.

But, sadly there are plenty of power-gamers of who treak every band for max efficiency.

I've listened to them for a long time ;)

although certain things are important. The heroes thing is one of of them. They are the money-makers and they're the ones who help you grow over time.
