For anyone with thoughts on building a Squat/Demiurg force in 40k, this is the place to visit for inspiration. The idea is to contribute links or pictures of useful miniatures for a Squat army in 40k and to discuss which proxy codices will fit the slot in the best way.

To get the ball rolling we have the Mantic Forgefathers (http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Warpath/Forge-Fathers.html) and Dreadball (http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/DreadBall.html) stunties as infantry, Thudd Guns and walkers, the Kickstarter Metal Beards (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1693348960/metal-beards-fantasy-football-steampunk-dwarf-team) as robot auxilliaries, the Forgeworld Hades Breaching Drill (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Imperial_Guard_Support_Vehicles/HADES-BREACHING-DRILL.html) for counts-as Drop Pods and the Games Workshop Stormtalon Gunship (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440275a&prodId=prod1600096a) as a perfect miniature for an Iron Eagle Gyrocopter (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Iron_Eagle_Gyrocopter#.UjGfZcb7pIp) (just add some runes and ancestor faces; also paint the cockpit glass). They would be played as Space Marines since everyone knows Dwarfs are superhuman anyway and employs heavy armour and weaponry. The Space Marine Codex offers a wide range of infantry, vehicles and flyers, allowing for a multifaceted army composition with many possible playstyles.

What do you think about these suggestions? Please contibute with your own ideas, conversions and links.

I have a few Mantic Forgefathers, and since I was a bit disappointed in their rules I do plan to make a Forgefathers codex for 40k (I don't think using another races codex would capture the feel of them much). Not got very far though due to lack of time (doesn't help that we have a crisis in confidence in the 6th edition ruleset anyway).

Does anyone have links to other Squat (etc.) codices?

Mark.

This (http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=211) should make a good drop pod/Termite.

The new Centurions (minus imperial iconography) make for excellent exosuits. They even come with mining drills!

I was actually thinking of picking up some of the Mantic minis and using the new Space Marine Codex with them in a "counts as" fashion. I realize that the Squats didn't quite fit the GW bill for GrimDarkness but man, they were a seriously fun army to field, collect and paint.

Anyone know of any homebrew Squat codexes out there?

Christ that boring machine model is brilliant, cheaper than a drop pod and can be used on building/underground tables. I would use the space marine codex for one reason... assault bikes = squat trikes.

It looks like they did their own take on the old Epicast Termite http://www.epicast.com/lostbanned/EpicastTermite.jpg

For SM Squats I've looked at converting Dwarf Ironbreakers, but some of the other company options look tempting.

I have this thing, though adding it to the pool is like saying "buy some GW Squats".;)

The IG heavy-weapon squads have some mortars. I guess they're are not popular, so it's a cheap way to convert some mole mortars. The Thunderfire Cannon screams for Squatification as well. The Rapier was used by Squats too, so just change the crew. And the Thudd gun.

If you fancy some green stuff work, then you can get pretty decent Squats out of Mantic Forgefathers with helmet ridge, moustache rebreather and some ancestor faces. Like this (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?381061-Squattish-shooters-ahoy!). The best thing is how cheap the Mantic miniatures are, which Ironbreakers sadly aren't.

A guy in our gaming group has that Boring Machine (oh the hilarity!), it's pretty darn cool and quite large, footprint is probably a little larger than an actual drop pod but slightly shorter height-wise. It looks badass. Since this is a pool of everything Squat related, here's a link to his Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lostcarpark/).

That's some really nice space stunties!

Of course, for those wishing to convert their infantry extensively you could always use ordinary plastic Dwarf bodies and sculpt a Squat over it (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?381061-Squattish-shooters-ahoy!&p=6925054#post6925054).
