I'm looking to convert the Krudenwald Fiend as a counts-as Varghulf for my Vampire Counts army. For those unfamiliar with the creature (I'm pretty sure it was only mentioned in the 7th edition VC army book) it's basically a massive wolf. I was planning to use one of the new plastic Thunderwolf cavalry wolves, but wasn't sure whether or not it would be big enough for the necessary 50x50mm Varghulf base.

Has anyone tried anything similar? Any scale shots or, ideally, pictures of a thunderwolf on a 50x50mm base would be immensely helpful.

Thunderwolves are mounted on the 60mm round bases (think carnifex and dreadnaughts). They're more than man enough for the task :)

I used The Thing in the Woods from Mordheim as mine, just filled in the Chaos symbol and that was it.

Maybe use one of the Skin Wolves from FW? Am especially thinking about the GD one.
