View Full Version : Da Krimson Klaws (WIP)

After neglecting 40K for a few years, I pulled everything out a few months ago. After my last move, a lot of my Orks suffered terrible wounds.

Okay, honestly, I don't like the painting and modeling of them (I confess!) so I'm giving it another go.

This thread will introduce everyone to "Da Krimson Klaws", a small Ork tribe originating on the dust moons of SC24-45A, in the Segmentum Obscurus.

Good luck on your project. I'm almost positive that starting this project log can help to keep you focused on finishing this army.

As far as not liking to paint, are you against "dipping" models? I've seen it pulled off successfully on horde armies. If you're uncertain or unaware of this technique, do a search on this forum. I'm sure you'll find something.

Da Grim Raida (Looted Land Raider) - this work is (nearly) finished. After posting pics in the Dakka forums, I realized I needed to go back and paint some checks/dags about and the wires of the lascannons.

I'm very dissapointed you didn't paint them like crimson fists...

Looks really good. I noticed a crow's nest...any pics of it?

Besides the checks and dags, would you consider weathering the vehicle? You know, a little rust around the bolts, dust/mud caked on the tracks and what not.

Argh! Why don't my images show up? They show up initially but when I post messages, I keep getting links!

Been using the vB tabs but they're not working, I'll try again (I really wish this had HTML code)

For a moment I thought this might be a bunch of Orks imitating those renowned Ork-hunters, the Crimson Fists. "Dose blue boyz are 'ard, boss! Maybe avin' red klawz makes you hit 'arder..."

i agree with artificierarmour and ionfish, i thought they'd be orks with scavenged parts of the crimson fists, is that what you've got in mind for the rest of the project or not?

The boyz

I really like the looted Orky Landraider Ancientsociety. I especially like the crows nest perched on the top of the vehicle. The vehicle looks like it could do with some weathering effects, like rust and a bit more in the way of battle damage here and there, and maybe some cool Orky glyphs.
I must admit though I thought at first it would be an Ork army based on the Crimson Fist space marines, and the landraider would be a looted Crimson fist space marine Landraider.

Why does everyone think that just because they have "Krimson" in their name, that they are somehow related to the Crimson Fists???? I had no idea Space Marine chapters had a monopoly on colors and themes.

Here are some pics of Da Grim Raida's Grot Riggers (which, in my opinion, are the best things about any Ork vehicle)

Krimson - Crimson Claws - Fist. Its the orky way of saying Crimson Fists. I too thought they would be Crimson fisty lookin'.

I like the land raider but it looks a bit plain and undamaged (there arent enough gouged holes from bullets and chunks of metal to cover up over damage.

Though I suppose you don't want to over do it... But a few more wouldn't hurt!

Sorry for the delay in follow-up. A lot of work has been done on the BW since my last post. Changes/additions include

-Finishing rear bay and outrigger areas
-Installing exhaust stacks
-Adding the 2 rear-facing, Bolt-On Big Shootas
-Closing the turret hatch
-Replacing the turret's TL Big Shootas with a B-O BS
-Adding the new, longer Zzap Gun barrel
-Installing the mounts for the 2 TL BSs on the outriggers
-Installing and fabricating the Krusher (this was my favorite part - the Krusher rolls and moves up and down independent of the chassis)

I'm now working on:

-Fabricating the 2 TL BSs
-Fleshing out the Krusher (perhaps glyph plates? Rivets? Spikes?)
-Fleshing out the Krusher "arms", including hydraulics, rivets, etc.

Let me now what you all think
