So GW have released some old Dwarf Characters IN METAL!!!!

Have my prayers been answered?

Is this a trial to see if there is any interest in metal minis?
Is it a trial to see if there is any interest in old sculpts?
Will they be releasing new sculpts in metal?
Is it just a case of they found the moulds lying around and thought they would give them one last spin before they get archived forever?

They are priced at 8.20 Each. Not bad considering when they were first released about 15 years ago they were priced at 5.00 (Although that was right after a price hike back then. :D)

I have no idea what it means but I thought I had seen my last metal mini from Citadel ... so for me at least
.... it is a ray of hope.

What's this? Old sculpts revived???

Will watch this with interest and see if it spreads. Might even manage to get my wife back into gaming if it does; she hates the new stuff.

Wasn't there an "eye-witness" report of all GW's metal being sent for recycling? :D

I do hope someone at GW has woken up and smelt the coffee as metal is the one true material. I'd love to see metal come back but I'll see it before I believe it.

Wasn't the metal characters in the store before the new releases? Or am I wrong?

I hope they'll re-release the best old metals in the future.

Besides, those looking for the Dwarf adventurers can still find them in the core section. Don't panic yet. :)

Gw's information control is now so good that I don't really know what they sell any more.

Is that the 8.20 runesmith etc. in the main product range? Were these unavailable before? If so what were players doing for runesmiths (or were they finecasted)?

They've always been available in metal. I wonder how long before they get dropped since they are 2/3rds of the price of the equivalent plastics though. I'm seriously tempted to buy a few on the offchance I start a Dwarf army.

At the same time they nixed a load of metal/FC characters that were already there, such as the lord with hammer/shield

I strongly doubt this is more than they found some old metal stock in a warehouse, can't be bothered to convert the models to Finecast (which is said to be on the way out as well) and they're attempting to flog it.

If they were to release a new sculpt in metal, that would significant, but this doesn't seem to be.

I believe the only things they re-released are the special characters that are in the new Dwarf book that otherwise wouldn't have minis available? I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I was just saying in another thread that while I'm a fan of the new plastic character blisters (price aside) - they're only releasing a handful per army revision. At the same time - some armies are losing a dozen character models as the metals dry up. Dwarves lost a bunch of lords/engineers/etc. It doesn't leave much in the way of variety, and it will take years for them to build up a decent amount of new plastic ones.

Bugman and Ungrim Ironfist are back? Those (alongside the rest of Bugman's brewers) might be literally the first models I ever bought. I don't know if they were there before hand but if GW has brought them back this is a very positive thing. I've often wondered why they don't sell their classic models. All you need is a bit of storage space then cast them to order. Maybe they will rerelease other classic models, let us hope.

I don't like this rumour. Just the thought of returning metal zoantgropes with balls of metal on thin metal spikes, or metal hands which hang below the hands. And they are whole you cannot really convert them. With finecast it's a lot easyer to take a knife to and cut into to chop decorations for example.

Bugman was there before the release. That's how I got my hands on him during the panic rush acquire to metal miniatures when Specialist Games, collectors models and so on began to get butchered.

If they brought back metal models, just Isildur on horse I'd be happy, the ebay wars are crazy.
Must admit there are few finecast models which, if converted to metal, I would be tempted by.

Which models specifically have shown back up? And is this just on the UK site or others too?

Elendil and the Dwarf Deathroller would be most welcome as well.
