Hi all, cam anyone give me advise on how to keep my Swordmasters alive! I currently field 2 units of 6 in my 2500pts list but am having trouble keeping them alive.

Units of 6 infantry at 2500 points are going to die regardless. Even in MSU elf lists you are going to have at least 10-15.

Should I make them one unit or get rid of them altogether?

A unit of 6 is just free victory points walking around, with T3 and only a 5+ AS even used as a flanking unit they will be cut down to less that 5 quickly (thus removing the threat as flankers)

You have to decide what you are using them for, chaff and fast moving flankers? You'd have more success with chariots and eagles. Boost them up to 20(5x4), 21(7x3) or 28(7x4) and they'll become a much more valuable threat on the battlefield

High Elves can take specials in units of less than 10?! That's odd, I could swear that Dark Elves are all limited to 10 minimum, it's strange that they're different.

Swordmasters are the only ones allowed to take down to 5-man units.

Are they effective in 2500pt lists? If so what is the best way to use them?

They used to be really good speed bumps in the last book but with the loss of re-rolls I dont think they are quite as effective. Still can be painful when against the right units but will likely be picked off by magic or shooting before you get the chance to use them.

I use 16 to good effect at 2400. I throw them head first into something I want dead, then write them off. They rarely survive my opponent after they murder a unit in the way that they do.

I agree with t3 and only a 5+ they seem vulnerable. If only they could get into combat quicker.

Walk between worlds... everyone discounts how useful High Magic is :-p

I would definitely take a unit of 15 ranked 5 wide. Units of 5 lose combat effectiveness far too quickly and are very fragile.

I use 17 with BotwD and a loremaster at 2500 It surprises people how good they work with the Loremaster.

Running them 6 wide 3 deep. I have considered finding the points to bring them up to 20(7x3)
