View Full Version : Gloryseeker's guard

Hi people I just started a new guard army, I've always wanted to do one just never had the time before.

Here are the first 3 men, the black armour has been painted like the hyper-realism on the US GW site but its not shown up very well on the pics. Also sorry for the poor quality pics it my first time time in taking them (its harder than I thought it would be).

They're pretty nice. It's very clean and crisp painting. When are you gonna put them on bases, and what are the bases gonna be? e.g. CoD
I took my first pictures a little while ago too, it's hard. :( All I can really say is that if you've got the macro setting (usually a little flower) then use it, and try to keep still when taking pics, or just use a tripod. Anyway, it's very nice painting, I can't wait to see what else is gonna come out of this project!:D Keep the work up.

Wow. These fellas look EVIL. Especially the two with the all-covering helmets, those red eyes and black armour would be perfect as evil henchmen for some evil James Bond overlord.

207 views and only 2 replys :cries:

the helmets are the normal cadian heads with green stuff cast front bits. ill post some wip pic soon once the green stuff has finally set

they llok pretty good from what i can see. if the picture quality was higher then youd probably get more replies.

id like to get a better look at the masks if possible

They do seem a little shiny, though that may be the flash. As for the lasguns, the mag instead of powerpack looks ok, but think it needs a barrel, just looks too blunt at the mo

I love the scheme - the armour and helmets look great and i like the skin tone you've gone for they do look pretty evil. I'd love to see how some kasrkin or a sentinel might look in your scheme.

maybe a light black wash on the brown uniform (if it won't run onto the other bits) - just to show the shadow between the tunic and trousers. The gun could do with some highlights or a black wash - it's a little "clean" looking.

You have a neat finish and a good theme - can't wait to see the squad finfished.

Doing the armor like that is a risky idea, but I think it works. You could try adding some dirt and stuff on a few of those armor plates, to contrast the gloss with something matte.

Nooo, an army of Darth Vaders  :chrome:

I like the colour scheme for the armour. Very effective.

I really dig the highlighting on the cloth, it looks very clean! However, I do agree with Agamemnon in saying the armor is a bit shiny. Great stuff! I'd love to see a Russ with your scheme!

Love them! this is how i want my upcoming Guard to look. could you explain how you did the gasmask/helmet thing? i'm not a master of green stuff so i'm lost how you did it.

Thanks for the reply Delicious Ron, to be honest I not that good with green stuff either so i needed an easier way.

first thing to do is file down the helmet so it ends up like this
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/th_wipheads1.jpg (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/wipheads1.jpg)
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/th_wipheads3.jpg (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/wipheads3.jpg)

second i made green stuff molds of chaos space marine heads and cast them resulting in
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/th_wipheads.jpg (http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g20/Rob1613/wipheads.jpg)

then it was just a matter of cutting and filing to get the shape right and then just fill in any gaps there is with some more green stuff. hope that helps abit.
