Looking forward to playing this sometime soon as it looks different enough from the standard flight path rules to keep things interesting
In the meantime as we all know the usual pre-paints often leave a lot to be desired and while these weren't actually that bad I decided to give them a quick tickle over, nothing major, wouldn't even call them re-paints as I simply worked with the original colours and highlighted the details, literally about half hour per dragon and now we have something a little more blingy to hit the table top with :)
Looking forward to wave 1 being released in the UK, guess I better get a few more KR cases!

Time to make some scenery me thinks!

Nice work. The enhancements are subtle but do make a big difference in the overall appearance.

What are the rules like? There seem to be ground units for that game in addition to the dragons.

They are actually quite brilliant Windsplitter, the dragons have melee attacks and breath attacks that need to be recharged between uses, there are loads of enhancements and upgrades available for units and like xwing and Trek, each unit can be fielded either in a unique named version or a generic unit we haven't had chance to try the ground units yet but reading the rules IMO they look like they will integrate into the system very well, In fact we enjoyed the couple of games we have played so much I have already planned a bunch of scenery to bling up our battlefield :)

Quick repaint of the Green dragon (wave 1) forgot to take a before picture but as you would imagine like the others she wasn't going to win any beauty contests in her stock form! Like the others basically just an enhancement of the originals colours with details brought out, they really are fantastic miniatures!

NIce job ! the repainted versions are really cool. My favourite are the red and green dragons.
Could you take a scale picture next to a GW model please (if you have any) ?

Keep it up !

Ancient White Dragon added, as with the others, not really a repaint, just a tickle over adding a little shading and picking out the detail, the stock white drybrush, was a little 'meh'

Excellent job on these. How does the game play? A lot of people say it is better fleshed out than Star Trek Attack Wing, is that the case in your opinion?

Hi BulldogUK, is there a large difference if any between the ancient white dragon (which seems to be about 50GBP on ebay) and the upcoming white dragon release from an upcoming wave (which is around 18GBP preorder from uk based online shops)?. Am I right in thinking the ancient is much bigger and a limited edition of sorts?

I've recently acquired a copy of the starter set and has I totally enjoy X-Wing I'm hoping this is going to be good too. I'll echo Tzarinchilla's question above and ask for some feedback on the game if you don't mind. Comparisons to X-wing appreciated.

Also as I'm currently away from UK (where my starter has arrived) I was wondering if you could tell me or indeed show me a scale shot so I can see how big the dragons are when mounted on their flying bases, a measurement in CM would be awesome (if not too much hassle).

Thanks in advance.

Steve

p.s. Also can you check your PM.

Hi guys, I actually prefer it to x-wing and attack wing tbh but I do love those cuddly dragons :)

The introduction of the foot troops and smaller units really adds another level to the gameplay and its dnd, the scenarios you can dream up are limitless!

I will try and grab some comparison pics but the dragons range from 10cm to 17cm (so far) it does of course differ depending on how many pegs you use, regarding the white dragon, I would imagine this op one contains a few unique items, that's the way it usually works for these things, I'll be buying the standard version anyhow, well, no particular reason apart from I am hopelessy addicted to little plastic miniatures :)

In the meantime, wave 3 're-painted' again no time wasted on these guys, just an augment of the existing colours, a little shading here n there and some of the details tidied up, the actual models themselves continue to impress me!

Its a shame the silver dragon doesn't really lend itself to my rappy photographic skills, with minimum work he came out really well, this wave btw consists of the Ancient Silver Dragon, Wyvern and Harpy

oh, I have lots of ideas for scatter scenery for this game too, its on the list, hopefully not too far down :)

Latest op stuff, pictures are a little crappy but a quick touch up and simple spot highlighting has brought them up nice, shelves rapidly filling up, stupid dragons and their figure case unfriendly ways!

Very nice BulldogUK, especially like the silver dragon & Wyvern, the repaint on the Storm Giant is great too. BTW you are solely responsible for me buying this game! I'd no idea it was even out until I saw your log here.

Managed to get a good deal on the starter on Amazon, and the ancient white dragon and Storm Giant from ebay, just ordered the other waves from my local store, hopefully they'll be waiting for me when I'm back home. I enjoy X-Wing a great deal so I can't see how I won't enjoy this.

As usual awesome work. Look forward to seeing what's next.

Did you pick up the Tiamat?

I certainly did 75....but lets do this guy first!

Repaint of Bahamut King of Dragons! Stock perpaint was terrible, some crappy metallic blue with lots of silver overspray on the wings. However just because he is a King I still kept things simple, simply enhanced the existing colours and picked out the details with the old hairy stick. picture showing him next to a space marine and a 'standard' DnD Ancient dragon...yes he is a real beast!

Another HUGE special for attack wing, Tiamat, Queen of the quite naughty dragons! Quick tickle over with the AB and some brush detail work, the stock heads were terrible tbh but that doesn't takea way the fact that its a pretty awesome model, love the way the heads are the same as the actual type of dragons in the range. She's also a beast in game, you take breath upgrades and they don't go towards the upgrade limits so you could have all FIVE breath attacks PLUS 3 more upgrades...NAAASTY!

Quick repaint of the Chimera & Hieracosphinx, as you can see from the first picture the stock paint job was pretty poor!

Must have been a dodgy batch of varnish so it didn't quite dry matt but I actually like the wet leathery look of the chimera's wings!

Ossalur, Ancient Silver Dragon repainted. pic don't do him justice, the silver came out nice, stock paint was just a monotone silver so I simply added some quick shading and highlights, painted in the dorsal fin and picked out the details such as teeth and eyes with something a little smaller than a 3" emulsion brush, which I am pretty sure the factory painted use! Went back and added this colouring to the adult silver dragon also

Great repaint of Tiamat, my stock paint is really really bad, possibly the worst I've had so far, which for such an epic model was disappointing.

Hi mate I got mine form a retailer called 'Hadrian's Hobbies' I don't think its a limited release so most retailers should have it I would imagine?

I agree, for the large dragons on such an epic scale the stock pre-paints really let them down!

And have you played a game whit multipel dragons at eatch side, (it's seems like no body has reviewed sutch a game.)
Wold you say it's good on that scale. A simpel yes or no wold definetly do as I only wants to know if sutch a battle is playebel. :)

Hi Essmir, the only games we have played to date have been ALL dragon battles and tbh we enjoyed it more than any of the other flightpath games such as xwing and trek! Works extremely well and the cool down mechanic is a perfect addition to the dragon powers. Soon as I get a little spare time (oh the luxury) I am hoping to make some scenery and get a few more games tucked under my belt , I'll be sure to Bob a few battle reports on this thread when that happens :)

I echo BulldogUKs sentiments and agree that D&D Attack Wing is actually better than X-Wing. Have played a few games using just starter stuff which went well. Then a few more with the addition of stuff like Red Dracolich and found that it does actually work better than X-Wing when scaled up (IMO).
