I just got done reading Honour Imperialis, a collection of stories about the Guard. The last story was a short story about the Elysians called The Mouth of Chaos. I already play Cadians, but after reading those stories, I have an urge to collect different regiments, even if it means just getting different looking Guard instead of a new army with new rules. I'd love to have some Elysians helping out my Cadians as drop troops, some Death Korps laying seige to the enemy, or even some Vostroyans helping out. In addition, playing Dawn of War 2 really makes me want to collect some Catachans to use as my vets.

So anybody have more than one model range in their army?

I have a vostroyan army, i use cadians as my conscripts/pdf since vossies by their backround dont have conscripts, i use the old metal stormtroopers as tempestus and atillan rough riders.

I hadve a cadian force with catchacans as penal legion, but since there aren't penal legion anymore, I've made them a veteran team with Harker as scouts. I also have an armoured fist platoon of steel legion, since I just love the models.

I run a necromunda escher force as my main guard army. I have a (yet to be painted) foot steel legion force. I also have a catcahan veteran squad (metal models) lead by Harker.
The steel legion is a 1000pt 'army in a box' that I can just pick up and play as is, very simple, wysiwyg. I'm considering expanding it with a couple of manticores and wyverns, with perhaps a basilisk.

I have 30+ steel legion troopers I use for conscripts. But my main army is dkok. I use a steel legion commander as a platoon commander. I use dkok grenadiers as carapace vets. I have 6 dkok flamers, 6 dkok melta gunners, 3 dkok heavy flamers, 5 dkok plasma gunners and 1 steel legion plasma gunner, I have 3 dkok auto cannon teams, 3 steel legion heavy bolters, 3 steel legion grenade launchers, 3 steel legion missle launcher, 1 steel legion las cannon and 2 dkok las cannons, 3 dkok mortars. i use the dkok Ccs commander and use the 2 dkok seargants and a dkok pcs as sergents. I have 3 steel legion sergeants for back up and 1 steel legion leutenant as backup. I pretty much use every model and have multiple of most from both sets in one army and it looks good. The only models I haven't bought is the 3x dkok Bolter team since I have steel legion bolters. The dkok grenadiers since I don't know what unit it can represent in the main codex except tempestus and I like the new models better. But the army looks good together and fills in the gap for missing units each set has.

I've got a Mordian Iron Guard regimement with 300ish infantry and a 1500 point Catachan/Abhuman army that I play for fun sometimes. I'm not particularly fond of the Guard plastics.

Steel Legion. Approx 10k
Necromundan IIX (using Cadians). Approx 2k
Unnamed renegade IG (using Cadians). Approx 500 points
Unnamed renegade IG/Cultist army (using WHFB undead). Approx 250 points
Volkunast XXXVIII loyal PDF/IG.
Less than 10 models to date

Size reflects age, the most current project is a couple of months old and will probably represent the majority of my focus for the next year or so.
Each army focuses on a different aspect of IG army building and the renegade forces particularly are built to look as little like a traditional IG force as possible and to act as a natural foil to the loyalist forces I own.

I've got a decent sized Steel Legion force, around 70 infantry of various types and have just picked up a large number of mordians (around 150) and suspect once I dig through the pile of sprue I will have a similar number of cadians. None of my armour is painted in a coherent scheme at the moment, what with much of it being ebay purchases at the moment. I both love and loathe my guard, I love the way they look, play and work in the background I loathe the way they totally derail my attempts to have fully painted armies

I have a massive cadian army. it is supported by a single platoon of vostroyans attached to the regiment as a fluff driven excuse to field some of the models....lovely they are.

I have a large Tanith force made up of metal Tanith and converted plastic Catachans.

I have a large Cadian Armoured company as well as an equally large ordinary Cadian army.

There is also a mixed one using the old metal models when you used to have a platoon of Mordians, one of Vostroyans and so on.

There is also an Attilian force with some converted to infantry and some heavy weapon Centaur Squads.

I have a couple of un-named converted Cadian mixed forces, both tanks and infantry.

As of yet small unpainted Steel Legion and Vostroyan.

Small Praetorian force with Rough Riders.

Small Vostroyan force based around mortars squads and artillary (Supposed to be Cain inspired.)

Also a small force of converted Drop Troops made from old metal SM Scouts as described in one of the very old Capter Approved books a few years back.

i have about a platoon of Alcari (cadians) with many more waiting to be assembled
i have a squad of bethesdans (conversions using empire archers and victoria miniatures bits) with 10 more in production along with 10 tread bike rough riders in boxes
i have nearly finished painting a whole 40+ model platoon of mad robot miniatures kurgans
i have a platoon of mad robot da namians in boxes
i have a squad of mad robot cdf marines in the box and some of the jovians (not-ogryns)
i have a hellainian super heavy tank regiment awaiting construction that will be accompanied by some bird riding rough riders
i have some of the mad robot lykan sawtooths as well

so yeah, in short multiple regiments are cool if you can get around to painting them all :) the good thing is while building multiple armies they are also usable within a single game, a platoon of this a veteran squad of that with a sprinkling of ogyns from there type thing

I have 3 themed IG Armoured/Mechanized forces - 1 Cadian, 1 Steel Legion, and 1 Vostroyan. All 3 come under the banner of an Armoured Battlegroup using the IA books from FW.

The grand total model-wise is about 80 vehicles and 280 Infantry.

I've got Cadians, Catachans, Elysians and Praetorians painted. If I ever get round to it, I've also got a pile of Valhallans too (although not at the same time as the Catachans).

I run Catachan as my main force with the 927th Megrim "Dragon Stalkers" (ie Cadian models) as my support element. The 927th "excel " at Nid hunting. Their vehicles and armor have nid pieces as trophies.

I have Krieg, Cadians (new and old), Praetorians, metal Catachans, Tallarn, Valhallans, tank companies, super heavy companies, the list just goes on. Will be adding Mordian and Steel Legion once the knight Titans are done.

Can never have enough...

oh yeah......

-Started with Cadians, added Vostroyans, Tallarns, etc

-Had catachans, turned them into Alpha Legion guerrillas and then mixed them with my LatD army to use the new IA

So technically I've got

-Bog standard Cadian Regiment
-Rogue Trader's Private Army
-Tallarn Tank Company
-Vostroyan Mech
-Traitor Guardsmen, now using IA13 but still "count as guard"

Hmm, well... Not personally, but I have a friend who is a wee bit nuts, and has Cadians, Catachans, Tallarn, Mordians, Valhallans, a platoon of Attilans, Necromundans (using the Gang models) and Praetorians - think that's it (Imperial Guard infantry-wise, at any rate).

I just have Death Korps and another player has Elysians, so we have most of the modelled regiments between us!

So far i only have Praetorians. I a toy with the idea of using maybe Vostryans as veterans.

My guard regiment is a 'mob' regiment that uses a mix of over 300 infantry models models from almost every metal human line imaginable, converted to hold lasguns, autoguns, shotguns or a mix of pistols and CCW (all count as lasguns). I have used the following:

Metal Valhallans, Catachans, Cadians, Tallarns, Vostroyans (all head-swapped to have cowled cloaks)
Necromunda redemptionists, cawdor, orlock, delaque, escher
2nd edition cultists, brats, guard, suicide bombers (yes, they were a thing) penal troopers and chaos cultists
Privateer press menoth and Khador
one metal blood bowl high elf linesman

I will field almost all infantry when I am using the army properly. Once, after deployment I told the opponent I would let him seize the initiative with no roll if he could find the blood bowl elf in the army within 2 minutes. He failed.

Are you assembling a PDF and raising regiments to protect your Forge House?

It just kind of happened. I did once show up to a 5000 point per-person Apocalypse game with nothing but infantry; 430 models. I outnumbered the entire opposing side all by myself. It was wacky. :)

My regiment includes remnants of other formations; they are also painted so that I can play Guard vs Guard battles with them as regulars (Cadians, Steel Legion, Mordians, beret stormtroopers) vs insurgents (everybody else). Works well in Cityfight.
.
Metal Cadians, minimal company strength (50? 60?+)
Plastic Cadians, minimal company strength
Catachans, platoon strength (30?+)
Steel Legion, platoon strength + Rough Rider squad
Tallarans, minimal platoon strength (20?+) + Rough Rider squad
Valhallans, minimal platoon strength
Mordians, minimal platoon strength
2nd edition Stormtroopers, minimal platoon strength
RT era Troopers: below platoon strength (10+)
Squats, below squad strength
Preatorian, single trooper

Assorted vehicles, abhumans, stromtroops, officers and specialists.

They do start to smell after a while. Probably need a bath.

I've about 2K worth of Krieg. I just received a $200 voucher to Victoria Miniatures (http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/) for Xmas, and so am tossing up which of her regiments to spend the cash on. At this stage it's a toss up between the Arcadian Guard (http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/products/arcadian-guard?pagesize=12) and Van Diemen's World Devils (http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/products/van-diemens-world-devils?pagesize=12). A Desert-themed, air-mobile Van Diemen's World Devils force is what I'm currently leaning towards...
