Greetings.

Don't let the title fool you. That was a rhetorical question ;) Why I am asking is because I have been saving around 500 Euro € for the upcoming 9th edition.
But the last couple of weeks I have been thinking about how much I love Warhammer in its current form. In fact so much that I am now considering spending
that money on miniatures and books that I know and love and fear loosing when 9th finally drops. And that is why I am asking myself, am I foolish?

Do you have people to play with? If so, go for it. Or wait. There's always ebay.

No you are not.You should spend your money to what you enjoy the most.
That said, when 9th pops out you will be still able to find most of the books minis for the next 6 months or so.And there is always Ebay. Personal opinion: Save the money and see what 9th looks in 3 weeks. You like it you buy it, you dont you buy 8th. 3 weeks its not a long time from now.

I generally agree with DinDon I don't think you generally find it hard to pick up most models on ebay (even if you have to remove the paint). However I would look over ebay and see how available the models are now. Some of the rarer models may become even worse and their price may increase (my guess is some of the Brets range, the unique Chaos Warrior heroes etc). A similar thing happened with the specialist game range and I kick myself whenever I think about it of the warmaster models I should have picked up before they cancelled the range.

I have to admit the panic-inducing rumour-mongers, saying that 'All Army & Source books will disappear completely from shelves and online' is contagious.

It really is taking all of my willpower to hold off from crazy spending for one more month.

I am with Gobskrag, you should first and foremost consider what people you have to play with.

Good advice!

I am also saving money for 9th. When 9th arrives, I will decide what to do. I am sure you will find all the existing kits still on GW online or on ebay. So wait a month before spending your money.;)

Also don't depend to hard on what others will do or who is currently playing what. People change their mind, so if they say now that they will play 8th and not 9th. It's perfect possible that those people are in a month only playing 9th or another different game.. .

You should buy the miniatures/rules that you love the most, otherwise they will go OOP and you will have to get them by second hand later, or even not get them at all.

The other stuff that will disappear you won´t care much about, and there is no rush in buying the new stuff - in fact i would say that it is better you wait for some reviews before buying anything brand new. Better to know exactly what you are getting.

Yes!

Oh, I should give an explanation.

If they completely wipe the model line, there should be plenty available on eBay.
If they don't, you should still be able to buy them.

Just realize how many "Women of the Night" you can buy (loan?) instead :D

Ultimately, it is down to how much enjoyment you will get out those models. If you will get to play with them or really want to have them in your collection, then you should buy them now.

Yeah, waste of money. If 9th is really as much different from 8th as we hear (fear?), ebay will be full of people loading off their stuff because many gamers do not hold on to a dead system.

I would wait, the second hand market will still exist for a good while if GW do drop the miniature line over night in the near future and assuming the game does change a lot, then if you have sorted a good gaming group out, then you can do what myself and a couple of other players in my group plan to do, pick up some cheaper so called "worthless" armies and books on Ebay to add to our collections.

If it makes you feel better, while the title for your posts have now changed the rest of the posts all have a heading with the offending title. (except this one)

Probably best to lock this thread (as you can as the original creator of the thread) and avoid such words in future.
Also yes, very foolish to not wait for 9th edition to appear before dumping a load of money on something everyone is potentially going to not bother with in future.

Ain't nobody got time to go through and edit each post...

Not the place. If you have a problem with moderator policy, I suggest you open up a thread at the helpdesk rather than venting publicly.

Moreover, it's probably not advisable to repeat the word you just received a warning for when complaining about receiving a warning for the use of a certain word.

I don't think it is foolish to want to enjoy the game as it currently stands but since we all know, and you know as well, that massive changes are coming...yeah, I would just hold off.
