To be honest, with the images supplied, none of them. In the paint - may be a different story. Lions of Sigmar, perhaps (I like purple)

I've seen some painted as LoS somewhere, they look much better than on that image and were by far the best looking Stormcasts I have seen. Make the aesthetics of the models far better.

The turquoise one are pretty awful.

The Celestial Vindicators know no mercy nor knowledge of using subtle tones to accentuate their curves.

I kind of like the turquoise the most, of that lot, actually.

I think the ones I'm painting look most like the lions of Sigmar - but the gold is more green-tinted

Having looked at the pics on the first post, they look quite samey - looks like the main difference is the colour of their armour, and none of those looks particularly exciting in the drawings (though might look better on actual painted miniature).

The names remind me heavily of 40K space marine chapter names. This might not be a coincidence...

If I ever got Stormcasts (oh look, a flying pig!), I would paint them very dark gunmetal with dark red accents. That way, they would match nicely with a Harry the Hammer conversion. Blood for the Blood God!!!

Ultrumarines.

If they make an Imperial fist one though I'll jump ship.

They claim to have different heraldry but in fact they all have the same lightning bolt

simonbeard
24-07-2015, 21:58
What's the difference? They're all made of lightning, right? Why do they have different colored armour?

I'm asking because I'm interested in finding out, not because I'm interested in starting a flame war. I actually, genuinely would like to know.

Where's the Space Wolves of Ulric option? I'm disappointed.

You could always make them SS lightning bolts...for "super sigmar"

Then paint them black and white...

I'll show myself out.

Isn't there a 'stormhost' with a dark green color scheme that had half of their members fall to Chaos, and they no longer speak of them?

Seriously, I'll stick to my Dark Angels thank you.

And if not, then the Reasonable Marines.

I voted "Blood for the Blood God" - wish I could say because I was drunk, but at this stage I'm just contrary.

I really like the colours of the Astral Templars and the Celestial Vindicators, but I don't think non-metallic colours suit this style of armour at all. I find the opposite with Space Marine Chapters, but to an even greater extent - I think power armour looks terrible in metallics.
If I squint really hard maybe I can pretend the CVs are wearing heavily verdigris-stained bronze rather than turquoise-painted metal...one of the artworks of them could pass for this, but most of the artworks and the actual models look way too blue for verdigris.
I think the Hammers of Sigmar colours suit the look of the armour best (not sure if good thing...). Plus they remind me of Ordinators from Morrowind. They just need mohawks and fancier boots.

Celestial lions

This could apply to the Hammers of Sigmar (colour scheme) or the Lions of Sigmar (name & semi-colour scheme). 'Celestial Lions' would actually be a perfect name for a Stormhost - and that chapter's colour scheme suits Sigmarine armour much better than power armour imo.

Yea, I chose it as it's a moderately well-known SM chapter who's name could be created using the names of just eight initial sigmarine orders. Just joshing about the similarity tbh...

However, I have to agree that the color and iconography is better suited to SE than SM... with these if possible: http://sciborminiatures.com/i/conversion_parts_2012/big/lion_small_shoulderpads_01.jpg

This thread has been my introduction to the stormhosts of sigmar and their different schemes.

After I stopped LOLing, I had to vote Ultramarines.

I'll be painting mine in my own colour scheme, but out of those (and the models I've actually seen painted in the various schemes) my favourites are the celestial vindicators.

They claim to have different heraldry but in fact they all have the same lightning bolt

This is the symbol of the unit, not that of the host. Lightning bolt is the symbol of "reedemers" (Liberators), four-pointed star is for the "justicar" (Judicators), twin-tailed comet for "angelos" (Prosecutor)

SuperHappyTime

Celestial Vindicators, because they're basically Dark Angels.
