Hey guys I have 50 spear elves so should I go 2 X 25 or 1 x 50 obviously there is pros and cons to both but I would like people's opinions all the same

Units of 50 make AoS an absolute chore to play for both sides IMO, movement is ridiculous and combat is just a huge mess. I would rarely consider fielding more than 20 in one unit but I can see the wisdom on boosting up to 25 so you can retain your to-hit bonus for longer.

Indeed I tried a block of 30 today LOL I liked hitting on 2s but not the amount of time it took to work out who was in range

I field 30 darkshards as my central backbone unit. I prefer them over spears because they can support fights where needed or shoot and then charge (battleshock stacks up through the phases).

Eventually the core of my force will be a large mix of dark shards bleak swords and spears

DE can work with small units as they still do the MSU play style really well.
Larger units are viable especially as objective grabbing or tarpits but I don't think that is the most optimal way to use them - as their damage potential and threat range is smaller than multiple smaller units.

Is there any reason you didn't just put them in a movement tray?
