Heroes Bravery Rating

I am looking for a little clarification as to what a heroes bravery rating is used for. I understand the rules for multi model warscrolls and the battleshock rule but what does the hero use their bravery for? Many thanks.

Some abillities attack the bravery of the target and some abilities of characters give a bubble for other units and other abilities cause all units in range to take a bravery check so theres a few uses. (Most are in the redone scrolls for older models.) Hope this answers you.
