View Full Version : Eldar Exodites

I plan to do an eldar exodite themed army now. So I've been playing 40k since for about 10-11 years on-and-off.

My first army was the eldar and units that attracted me the most were the harliquins and exodite dragon knights.

I've dug through my old eldar stuff and am goint to convert most of my figs.

here's a mock up of my first exodite knight.
I thought just using something with the calvary rules just seemed too weedy for somthing called a "Dragon Knight". So the Giant Reptile rules from Wd 291(us) allows me something really scary.

for the more lesser calvary, I planned on using kroot trackers as exodite lizard riders. I'd figure the kroot stats factor'd all of the pros and cons of riding a dinosaur while tryin to use a hunting rifle. here are some models I plan on using for domestic "dragons". Tamiya velociraptors (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=60105)

I'm also trying to figure out how to make my gurdians more rugged and rustic. So one idea is to shave off thier backpacks and greenstuff some surcoats on them.

to represent the reletively small population of exodites, I plan on using lots of outcasts and stuff for my force. so rangers and harliquins will feature pretty heavily in my force. what can I say, they like the country life.

oh yeah.. here's a groupshot of first 1000 pts. Dang I got a lot of converting to do...

like the idea, what legs did you use for the knight? dark eldar warriors?

I used the leges from a guardian jetbiker. I cut them off at the waist and greenstuffed to the saddle.

now I just finished assembling the dragon knight. Now it has saddle straps, a talberb, and I sculpted on long hair instead of the top knot.

I also did a pair of exodites. I pretty much tried to make them look like the old guardians with vest and coats. I might sculpt some hauberks on a few too.

mind you in the group shot, those are the models I need to convert. not the actual product.

nicely done, and for other ideas, i'd check out Sotec's ones here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36731&highlight=exodites)

His are really nice, but it occurred to me that the new cold-one from the lizardmen range would be perfect with little or no conversion. That and they should match the carnosaur pretty nicely.

But, the most important part, i can buy regiment of eight for about $35 as opposed to $32 plus shipping.

The reason I chose to use Kroot Trackers and Giant reptiles is that no matter what they make in the new codex. I should be able to use these units with little or no trouble because they're from outside of the 'Dex.

I did this about 10 years ago when you could have Exodites in v.2 (based off an unreleased Epic Exodite Model) I had entered it in the Golden Deamon in Baltimore back then and it made the cut but not the finals.

This might give you an idea or two for a falcon, wrathlord or support battery type of model for your army (though for support weapons you might want to consider salmanders. . . )

Hope this helps

I'm actually working on something very similar.

Recently I bought a Triceretops toy that I resculpted the head to make it more like a sauropod with horns. Right now I'm still working on the howada and the crew. after I'm done with it, it's just going to be a big Waithlord with a missile launcher, and two flamers(they don't call these things dragons for nothing)

And I know they can take wave serpents, but I'm going to try to give mine a distinct tribal feel.

ON the carnosaur. I'm woking on painting it right now so here's the color scheme.

Carnosaur, the skin is a light brown with dark green scales on a rocky base.

the Rider, snakebite leather undersuit, tan/ivory armor plates with green details. Red robes.

I'll probobly play this guy as an Avatar since he has pretty much the same stats as a Carnosaur anyway, that and it has inspiring leadership qualities for such a big model.
