I'm sick and tired of painting gray tanks, now I want to paint desert troops and APCs. Having never done anything remotely desertish previously I was quite nervous as to how this would turn out but damn happy with the first vehicle of Stanski's regiment.

The MK VIIB Leman Russ has several innovations on it's predecessor, including a single front plate which dramatically increases the frontal armor strength. It also possesess thicker sloped frontal turret armor. Due to poor field reports by crews the hull mounted heavy bolter has been removed and replaced with a cupola mounted one, this also frees up more room inside the fighting compartment for ammo and general ergonomical space.

Cadia's elite mechanised regiments are far better equiped and trained than their ground pounding counterparts. Given their ability to advance rapidly, a typical mechanised infantry regiment has much lighter and manuverable small arms, the Cadian 114th's being of Accatran make, a forgeworld renound for it's reliable and ergonomic designs.

so do you have an actually army that you keep for your self to play with or are you just the hobbiest not the gamer type?

Either why way I envy your work, your like a god for me, the emperor himself.

haha thanks :)

every time I start a new army I always swear it will be my last but it never seems to be. I am hoping this will be. The problem is I have been painting german style tanks for about 5 years and the Teutonian theme was getting very dry in my mind, I wanted to try something new.

I don't get to game very much at all although I would like to. Work/girlfriend/life in general such prevents though

List looks very promising, i like it.
See I dont have a job(rich parents=spoiled)girlfriend gets into games or whatches, and my every day life is iether at home painting cadians, on the computer or... never mind not right to say on hear.
The thing that restrics me is that there is only 2 people here where I live that have their armys done and can play, but theres four more that are getting into the games that practically live with me, and the closest GW is an hour away sadly...

Dude, I'd thoroughly recomend taking autocannons on the chimeras. Even just one or two. . . i know they're 50% more expensive than the Codex turret weapons, but the extra power is very useful. And it gives you an excuse to use the Marine Predator Turret.

Technically excellent and well executed. I still don't like the open suspension as it doesn't match the shape of the chimera hull. It looks better in that the arrangement of the wheels makes it look like the tracks would stay on this version. The Cadian heads on Elysian bodies look wrong. They're too big and look like a unit of eight year old kids.

I disagree on the heads thing, if you look at the helmetless individuals the heads look the right size. The cadian helmets are damn bulky and cover the ears. if you look at the fritz helmets from now days and extend them downwards you can imagine how large they would look on a guy.

The guy in the cap, compare his head with his arms and chest. His proportions are like a prepubescent kid. Big heads compared to bodies and limbs, the Cadian big helmet just compounds the impression.

... I present the MK IIX Chimera...

FYI:
"MK ..." -- the dots are supposed to be Roman numbers, right?
"IIX" is not a Roman number... if it's supposed to be 8, then it would be "VIII", if it's a typo and you meant "IX" (or 9) then I'm just pointing out a typo here ;)

I like what you are doing to those vehicles and the above is my only point of critique... keep it up!

Awesome! I love the Russ and Chimera. Cadian Helmets are just bulky, Cadians look sweet. Roman Numerals, were only really standardized to the whole VIII versus IIX in the last 200 years... during the times of the Roman Empire either way was exceptable.

Great looking troopers so far, the cadian heads work well to produce accurate scale humans IMHO, the lascannon looks sweet too. I don't however like the tanks, the tracks would snap the minute it went to move as when taught they would clatter off of the lower armour sections of the side, the clearance between this armour and the tracks just wouldn't work I'm afraid.

You've got me tempted to buy a thunderbolt now by the way.....you bastard :P!

I hate you, _head.

All look very very cool and your infantry painting is fantastic. The Chimera looks very very weird with the rejigged suspension, but it's also very funky looking.

Love it. Whether the heads are in scale or not they look good and when has the right scale ever mattered?

Yea thats what I think, GW scale has never been nearly correct and these guys, while mabye not perfect are much closer to the norm.

Nice heavy bolter, propper combat pose! right down to the 'you stick your head above the parapet and give them the good news, I'm quite cosy where I am thank you' of the number 2. This is turning into your best to date.

Like the salamader more than the chimera (too clean) it's got that 'right feel' to it.

Cheers mate, being an assistant gunner is never a fun job, you may as well not put yourself at risk if you aren't getting the job of an MG

I'm going for a combination of modern desert armor, so a bit of aussi with the camo netting mixed with some yank and ruskie considering the similarities between russian armor and my most recent chimera. :)

Hey, your army really looks more than just fantastic!! I really like your camo you used to paint your soldiers. Would you mind to give me an exact list of the paints you have used (from primer 'til the little white dots in the dessert camo)

shame, I was really enjoying this project log.

because I called a Nazi apologist a jackass, apparently it's okay to write off the death of 50 million people but not to call the person who says it a *****

I dont know how true that is, but thats his view of it.

Quote from Work In Progress, I beleive? I asked him there and got that reply. Well, search google for Work In Progress forums, or PM and I'll give u a linky since its against rules (AFAIK) to ad other forums here. As Pyramid Head still carries on his project there.

I dunno mixed feelings really - I loved this project log, one of the most costly and ambitious around, but I trust the mods enough that booting him was the right decision.

Lets hope, given time, he turns back up here with an equally funky army
