Hello all,

Darkseer has apointed me the head of the BFG content for FIREBASE, the new online 40K journal made for gamers, by gamers.

Now, of course, the key to giving gamers what they want is to actually ask them. So, open mike night. What would you like to see?

This will be for the christmas issue, so there's plenty of time to get articles together and stuff.

This is for suggestions of what you would like to see in all specialist game. If you want to volunteer to submit an article (and I am looking to organise a team) PM me and we'll talk there.

1. usual fleet engagement reports

2. fleet composition discussion

3. tie in on ongoing 40k campaign would be great as well

With the Dark angels being released this christmas we're hoping to get some space marine articles in as a tie in, but we'll need to find some willing participants to carry out the game.

Fleet composition I'm happy with, and Battlereports shouldn't be a problem.

- Modelling ships, especially when combined with #2
- House rules for new classes (with some decent background, not just "This is an Ork ship with a Nova Cannon")
- fleet showcases

Who's in charge of Inquisitor content? I may need to have a chat with them.

We will be aiming to produce 3 articles for each game system minimum per issue. Hopefully one battle rep, one tactica and one modelling project.

Converting a Hammer ;)

New scenarios would also be nice.

I'm already on top of that :p. Unfortunately it won't be a step by step guide though.

I'm thinking of writing an article trying to drum up interest in the game. It seems to be unfairly underated, much like Epic. Would you guys like to see something like that?

Hi, Im in the process of making a Pre-heresy/crusade fleet, I'm converting as much of it as I can. I was going to take some WIP pics anyway, but seeing as this has come up, I'm quite willing to let you use them, if they are any good. Ill even do a bits list and write up if you want.

ArtificerArmour

We would be very interested in that, get them snapped ASAP and we'll discuss it further.

Ok, sounds good. So I've got a few months?

ArtificerArmour

We could probably fit it into the spetember issue if you think you could get it ready by then.

I'll see what I can do

Don't feel under any pressure. Just take some sample photos and we'll discuss it further :)

How to build a Tyranid fleet using plastics.

ArtificerArmour

That would be interesting. Of course, I would like to find someone willing to do that. Are you nominating yourself Brimmy?

AA

have you talk to or recruited Cybershadow who puts out his own webzine on BFG and Epic

ArtificerArmour
16-07-2006, 20:19
Nope. This is just a few articles per issue. Firebase is catering for 40K and the surounding specialist games. We'll be writing articles but I cant see any alternate lists or new classes of ships being made in the near future, so we're not trying to push out other webzines.

I'll pm him though.

This sounds very cool. Warp Rift is paused right now while I get articles sorted and the forums corrected. God luck with this, I will be reading it with interest.

I'd like to see that too in Firebase. I'd also like to see a conersion article for doing Voss style prows for cruisers and light cruisers, as the Endeavour light cruiser got postponed indeinfantly, and I doubt they'll make an Armageddon class battlecruiser....

ArtificerArmour
18-07-2006, 14:44
Hmm, well, I don't know how to go about doing that - very difficult are Voss's. If anyone is able to submit conversion articles that would be great, pm me with details.

Who is in charge of the Epic articles?

For BFG it may be worthwhile to get a collection of ship/squadron/fleet pictures from people with fleets for an article about why it is a game worth playing. I really think this is important. Followed by a Fleet Engagement Report this combo may be enough for the first article. Maybe a painting or basic modelling article.

Hmm...I'd love to do a BFG article. Since I'm just getting into BFG, how about a 'Starting BFG' article? I'm undecided between Imperial and Tau.

Who is in charge of the Epic articles?

You'll have to PM Darkseer about that.

I'm hoping to get my Ork fleet finished by the end of this week/early next. I'm planning to do a feature on the orks, but I would be more than willing to pen something about starting BFG.

Perhaps maybe a tale of 4 gamers type thing where we build and expand on our forces?

A tale of 4 Fleet Commanders?

I am willing to be one of those people - I am probably going to build a new Imperial Fleet - already own one, so you would have a veterans view point there. I think the tale makes sense for an article and since it is quarterly we can take our time.

I will hit Darkseer up on the Epic side. A combine campaign of the two would be cool. Should probably not try to have an Epic & BFG take over.

I'm going to a BFG tournament in about six weeks, taking my Imperial Navy fleet. I could do a write up of that. You know, preparation, short battle reports, pictures of all my opponents fleets, and a wrap up of the event at the end.

ArtificerArmour
19-07-2006, 09:53
That would be useful - Reports from tournaments are always cool to read.

I'm all in favour of battle reports. I also think that conversion articles and some alternate classes would be fun (so long as they're well worked out rather than cheese-fests and have background to go with them)

Would I also enjoy reading is articles about other people's fleets and the ideas behind their compostition. In fact, I'd be dleighted to a article on my Chaos fleet if you want. Theres' a good 5000 points with a detailed background and I could talk for hours about the compositional structure of the fleet...

A big thank you to everyone who's participated in this thread.

It's looking rosey and the articles for issue 1 are complete. There will be a minimum of articles in the first issue due to being included so late in the day, but several are planned for issue 2.

Again, I tank you, and hope you're rewarded by reading the articles and enjoying them :)
