Ok, we're looking for some volunteers to participate in an upcoming BFG article entitled "Four admirals and a Hivefleet". It's suppose to be a play on words of Four men and a baby but...the title's a work in progress :p

Anyway, we at Firebase Specialist Games Section are looking for about 4 hobbyists to participate in the creation of a fleet for Battlefleet Gothic.

The rules:
3 months
60/$120us budget
1500point fleet

Acolyte and orangesm have expressed a desire to be part of it. I shall also be partaking. So I would like some volunteers.

What we want

We need a blurb about you for issue 1 (September 01), why you chose your fleet and your BFG background (newb/vet etc).
We will want pictures of your fleet at the end (issue 2 due in December) - don't worry if your not the best painter in the world, I know for a fact I'm not.
We want you to use official lists please, found at the GW specialist games BFG section.
We want serious applicants who will get the job done please.

Ok, enough serious stuff. There will be awards at the end, and we are definately encouraging originality and theming of your fleets. I'm planning something special for my fleet - something you can wait for when the first issue of Firebase comes out :p

This is a thread for discussion, feel free to pm me for further details.

I've changed my mind, and shall be representing with a ground-up Chaos fleet (As opposed to deciding between Tau and Imperial before-I just like that awesome Chaos range too much.)

Plus, it lets me make an Iron Warriors force without actually paying IW. Kinda.

Just so the world knows, I will be making my second Imperial Navy fleet.

Is that a 60 budget to build a 1500pt fleet.

I'm in!!!

ArtificerArmour

Indeed it is - £60 should be ample budget for a 1500 point fleet. I'm also encouraging use of initiative and money saving techniques - although anything illegal is not condoned, so no casting you guys. GW will be watching this magazine intensely to find something wrong with it, so best behaviour.

I'd have had a stab ... i've got a load of chaos ships around at home unpainted. But you seems to have a chaos player, and i have no regular opponent.

Well, I was thinking perhaps if we all got our act together and we all lived in the UK then we could fight each other at warhammer world or something.

There's a possible 4 people in the UK to partake.

Is that 60 GW prices? or can we take prices from ebay?

ArtificerArmour
20-07-2006, 10:42
it's £60 that a real gamer would spend. ;)

I'll either go for Tau or chaos.

ArtificerArmour
20-07-2006, 13:23
So far for UK players we have:

Me: DE
Brimstone: Nids
Cookiescrumble: Chaos or Tau

Acolyte - Chaos
Orangesm - Imperials

Probably Tau for me, don't know about the 60 budget though, maybe too little for a 1500pt fleet. The FW ships are cheaper than the GW ones :wtf:.

ArtificerArmour
20-07-2006, 14:09
Hmm. How about we just cap it at 1500 points and see who can spend the least.

I'm aware that the GW tau taus are much cheaper, but £30 for a krootie warshpere?!? :wtf:

OK, can those who wish to partake PM me with their email addresses and start writing a little blurb about their projects. I want to finish this first article by Sunday.

Gonna go for Tau, they are well hard!!!

Murr...pity I'm not in the UK, just a colony thereof (Canada, if you missed my location).

I would dearly love to go Eldar, but my lack of cash is astounding. Buying a house makes you instantly poor. :(

I'd be willing to do Chaos if another one is needed.

Ah, but thats the joy of budgeting a certain amount per month :D

Remember, this isn't the GW version, you can purchase from indie retailers and eBay.

I can see this being quite fun actually, I'll have a look at fleet list tonight an see if it really takes me aboard, but if it does and theres a space on the project I think I could be sorely tempted to try my hand at an Ork fleet of all things :-s

I would be up for it if your still looking for people, quite fancy a tau fleet. Do they have to be GW models?

So how is this going to work? Do you still only want 5 players?

ArtificerArmour
26-07-2006, 14:05
i want those who are interested to submit their articles, as people arn't confirming or denying whether they still want to carry on in this project.

Jedi152

I will, but i will be playing chaos - as long as that's not a problem.

What are we going to do about blast markers and stuff? I own the rulebook, but not the boxed game, so i don;t have any counters or special order dice.

ps: w00t!! 2,500th post!

ArtificerArmour
02-08-2006, 16:44
I'll bring mine. I need to dialogue with Brimstone about it actually.

cookiescrumble
02-08-2006, 17:41
I've got the dice and counters. I'll bring them along with the rulebook and my fleet of course.

I'm happy, i've just seen the new Tau fleet rules from FW!

ArtificerArmour
15-08-2006, 14:19
Those from the Taros book?

cookiescrumble
15-08-2006, 14:32
No, they released an online version. On the download section of the FW site.

ArtificerArmour

*has a goosey gander*

That list is confusing and scares me. I'm gonna have to study it to understand it lol.

orangesm
23-08-2006, 01:52
So here is a scary thing... we got a budget of 90 GBP or 140 USD. Well I came up with where my fleet is going and discovered that for the budget I can get a fleet ~2500 pts! Granted it is Imperial... but still rather impressive for a Games-Workshop product.

cookiescrumble
23-08-2006, 08:40
For 90, i could make a 2000pt fleet and thats using FW models.
