anyhoo, i just cobbled together a mercenary warband using the old Alcatani felowship pike men.

I'll talk about the modeling aspect in another thread, but I'm curious to construct my first warband with then with what I have.

1 captain with brace of pistols and hammer

2 champions with sword and cloak(buckler)

2 youngbloods with pikes(or spear)

4 warriors with pikes(or spears and buckler)

2 swordsmen

2 crossbowmen

3 archers.

this is kinda one of those projects where you get in to modeling aspect before you even think about playablilty.

They're in Town Cryer 7, but no sign of them anywhere on the Specialist Games site. Though I did find some rules here (http://www.strike-to-stun.com/Mordheim/Mordheim%20v%201.5.doc) (Page 5, by the way :D). I'm not sure if they're official or not, however. Re-reading it, I'd imagine they're unofficial ("by Games Workshop, used without permission"). It might be easiest to buy the relevant Town Cryer, or just agree with your gaming group to use these for now. Warband sounds good, by the way - I always think it's good to fight "themed" warbands rather than ones made to win.

Hope this helps! :)

*EDIT* Just read your sig :D I love Blake too, excellent poet! I especially love London and A Divine Image.

ok.. I just read them and I thinks they're purty spiffy. But, I'll just use plain ol' swords for the time being.

Thanks a lot.

uhm... how should I use pikes.

in the rules, they are just like the old rules for Steel Whip. but, with only a 3" reach.

Now could I do something like the new "whipcrack" rule where I get an additional attack, during or against a charge.

How complicated/cheezy would it be If I where to use the rule as is? it's only 12pt compared to 10pts for a spear.

eh, I'm just trying to find an alternitve to just using them as spears. They're just too long and cool looking to just count as spears, and I'm not going to shorten them either.

I'd just stick with rules for weapons they are allowed to take (i.e. spears)

And for rapiers, the method might be different but the effect would be the same as for a sword.

My duellists all have sewing pins to represent rapiers. Looks good too with a knuckle guard hilt :)

The rules for Tileans starts on pg. 20 of this pdf (http://www.specialist-games.com/assets/Lustria5.pdf).
So, at least with this warband, pikes are standard equipment.

and rapiers seem pretty neat, the whole -1 strength to get additional attacks with a cumulative -1 penalty(up to 2) doesn't seem that big.
