View Full Version : Making a Slaanesh daemonic legion

25-08-2006, 00:08
I was thinking ideas for anew sculpting project and decided on a Slaanessh daemon list. The reasons why I chose to do this was because I really loathe the current Keeper of secrets, I get the chance to practice scupting female forms and I had a strong vision about a Las Vegas/excess theme. I want to make the pleasure seekers look like feminine sexual stereotypes ie. stripper, secretary, nurse. Las Veagas itself serves as a inspiration. All the commercials, "What happens here, Stays here." scream keeper of secrets to me. Well, I will post pics as I go. For now I have finished My KOS and a mounted daemonette. These are completely hand scuplted using garbage and green stuff.

This has nothing to do with anything. I made it for a friend and really enjoyed making it. It is Garfield in the movie The Shining.

haha youve even got furbies!!!! nice haha makes me giggle the keeper of secrets rocks i red the fluff on the kos and it says that men are attrated to it and the current model(non fw) looks like a very very daemophilic if theres such a word

26-08-2006, 08:07
Thanks for the comment. I agree with you and cannot imagine anything being attracted to the current KOS. The temptation of Slaanesh is based on alure and the current models just don't cut it for me. Don't get me wrong I like the current Daemonete models but their ***** claws have gotta go. If I was designing them, I would make them super sexy and have retractable blades on their forearms like mantids.

26-08-2006, 14:24
Sounds good, and I agree with you, the current KOS just doesn't look right when its' meant to be attracting men. Who the hell would be attracted to a giant crab.... thing?! (Please, don't answer) I'll be watching this closely, good luck. ;)

This is one of those armies that will have tons of people talking about it at a Tourney. Great idea and execution. I can't wait to see a pimped out chariot.

Looks really nice, will follow this thread. :D

Got some more work in. I made my daemonic mounts for fast cav and the bodies for my chariots. Since my theme is excesses the mounts themselves are the vices of drinking and drugs.

This week is probably goinh to be an uneventful project week. I manange to get some painting in but will not have time for much else. Here's some picc of my progress.

Slaanesh daemonic syringe mounts for fast cav.

Alcohalic daemonic fast cav mounts.

My greater daemon again with some small touch ups.

Here's the stuff I'm stiff working on:

My pleasure seekers are going to be pin-up girls in provacative poses and this is their beginning stage of sculpting.

My chariots and daemonettes are in a conceptual phase.

I am planning on making one unit of daemottes look like girls from an adult magazine or brothel. I want the other group to like like casino waitress in front of slots. For my chariots, I will be making a daemonic herald fro each and want to make them look like limozines. The design for the beasts pulling the chariots is what I'm still thinking about. A white tiger from the mirage and the MGM grand lion are front runners in my mind. The last element I need to incorporate would be lettering and signs that would give a vegas feel.

Dude, this is gonna be cool if you finish it, your sculpting skills are insane!

06-09-2006, 02:29
Thanks for the comments. Bobert,I have to agree with you about the appeal of corsets. There is just something about them that makes me smile. I am hoping to get some work in the week on my pleasure seekers. I will post more stuff as I get it done.

Bad news, my computer's motherboard fried and I have to wait another week before I can put pics up. I am making slow but steady progress with the pleasure seekers. Hopefully by the next post all six of them will be completed.

28-09-2006, 20:38
My computer is still broken and my army building progress has been minimal. I will post pics soon. Until then I am putting up other stuff I was working on.

This will be a quite interesting and original army and certainly it will be well talked about...I definitely want to see this through to the end...

20-12-2006, 23:23
It has been forever and a day, however I am still making slow yet steady progress on my legion. Here are two prototype pleasure seekers. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d14/speedygogo/HPIM1119.jpg

I love sin city and I am so clonflicted as whether I should use characters from Frank Miller's graphic novel in my army. Right now I am heavily leaning towards that idea because I have already made several of them. I personally can't think of better demon princes than Marv, Hartigan or the yellow bastard and the girl of downtown could finish my other unit of daemonettes.

21-12-2006, 03:21
They look good though the varnish might be alittle heavy.

21-12-2006, 12:38
I agree, got to work on the varnish thing.

21-12-2006, 12:40
ok, this is looking wierd. All my worst fears about Slaanesh players have been confirmed :p. How on earth did you come up with the idea for those fast cavalry mounts? They're just bizarre!

21-12-2006, 12:47
Alright, I'm scared.

speedygogo im glad to see this thread back on its feet! how come its taken sol long for progress??

Arhalien- to answer your question the beer rider idea came out of a joke. One of my friends likes to drink and plays the dark elves so I made the first one as a parody figure. ie; riding a cold one. However, the idea fit in very well with my theme of aluring vices, with some people being tempted by the exotic girl riders and others by the beer.

I have never been a Slaanesh player but at the hillbilly rogue trade tourny last year I was talking to some buddies and got engaged in a debate about the seductiveness of the slaanesh daemons. I feel that the appearance of the Slaanesh's daemonic minions are more revulsive than attractive. The daemonette model has some appeal to them, I must admit but witch elves seem alot more slaaneshy to me. They are just so damn sexy. So I decide to embark on constructing an army that would reflect aluring sexiness but be ever so slighty disturbing. With my future models, I plan on pushing the S&M and sexy thing further.

Well, my 4 yr old boy broke my computer and I had to get it fixed. He has a fixation with trains and magnets and managed to wreck havoc in an instant. After the organic tornado, I was placed under the strain of a series of commitments. My wife's and family multiple requests for paintings and sculptures that I had to do right away, which is something I enjoy doing. I work as a registered nurse in a hospital and my employer decided that there was mandatory training that all the staff had to complete right away. The other reason for the delay was school because even though I already have a degree I still go to college in the pursuit of a higher degree. So it was really a buffet of issues.

I have 2 or three more sculptures to make for other people and them I should be able to pursue the Slaanesh legion at full speed again. The big reason I love warhammer is because of the creative elements that it enables me to use. I love to paint sculpt and draw and warhammer lets me indulge in these pusuits and get to play a really fun wargame.

I am finally getting back into my sculpting groove and am alsomst done with requests from family and friends. Although I am supposed to be working on my slaanesh daemon legion, I started work on a nurgle daemonic legion mainly b/c it gives me something to do with all the extra bits I have. My theme is fallen orcs and gobbos, in part because I think it would be cool and b/c I have an almost infinite supply of O&G bits from collecting them.

Well anyway, I made a great unclean one using an ogre head and part of banner pole and will put pics up later today when I get home.

As promised here's my pic of my Great unclean one.

I finished my plague riders and my nurgling bases.

Here's a group shot of everybody:

I am making my plaguebearers now and here it my inspiration for them. My little unclean one:

Ha! Mad sculpting all over the place, but I especially like the plagueriders. The LUO is nicely done too ;)

Nice work, look forward to your 'bearers.

Two things

1. Please try to clean up your photos. Its kinda hard to tell whats what.
2. Your plague riders seem almost....comical. No offense intended but thats just what come to mind.

10-01-2007, 03:50
Thanks for the encouraging words. You wouldn't believe how much fun the little unclean one was to make.

My pics are fuzzy because I post lots of them so I reduce the quality to make the most of the space I have on photobucket. I made the monsters a bit comical intentionally. Think of the plagueriders as a cross between a slug and the audrey 2 from little shop of horror and you'll be able to grasp my conceptual motivation clearer. I don't take warhammer too seriously because it is more of a fun thing for me and most of my made armies reflect that. IMO there really is no point in trying to do things exactly like GW because having the ability to sculpt to a small enables you to do things that normally aren't done.

My plaguebearers are going to express alot of levity also and I want them to be that way. Hopefully I will have pics up of them soon. By the way the Nurgle army so far reflect 2 days of work on them from scratch to finished and I anticipate theat the whole army will have taken four six hour days to build, then I am going to take so time off before moving on to other projects.

15-01-2007, 23:19
Got my plaguebearers done. The only thing I have left to do is put flock on the bases.
Heres my BSB and my other 2 banners:

This is the whole army:

The great thing about this army is that it took less than a week to make and cost about $60.

Cool looking nirgle army!

What are you using to take pics? Is it a camera phone?

16-01-2007, 05:50
I am using a digital camera but I am reducing the detail of the pics to save space on my photobucket account.
