I'm starting a new gang in necromunda, due to the fact that i'm incredibly indecisive I've decided to go for loads of different models from various gangs, I'll be treating them as orlocks because their characteristics are the most generic.

Question is, would anyone not play me because the gang isn't all of the same type, it's explained why they are all different models in the background of the gang, they don't have anything special, they are just orlocks but with a mix of all the different models in.

They shouldn't do, although your army wont really have a strong theme or feel.

That's where the background of the gang comes in, I'm thinking innocent settlement forced to rise up against the evil gangs that have oppressed them all these years. There is even a guy with a cowboy hat in there.

Your gang, isn't it. Just make sure to read the necro fluff before you make it, prevents you making any "errors" in background.

I wouldn't have any problem, infact it sounds like a great idea, and I don't think anyone really would, most players of specialist games seem to really like seeing good background and individual gangs. :)

If they do, you're probably just as well off not playing them. They'll probably be anal-retentive rules lawyers, or something just as unpleasant.

Play however you like.. give them a cohesive paint scheme and call it good :)

I started the gang, there is no one colour uniting them, they look like a load of rabble which is what they are, they are doing quite well too. They have a squat leader as well, when I start a new gang next I think I will go with squats, use the goliath rules maybe, any idea's people?

We care. :)

Try mixing a few Underhive scum models into the gang... Also, if you make your gang members a bit different from houses that they came from, that'd be cool. Again, look to Underhive scum for ideas. Well, sort of. There's an ex-Delaque member with *gasp* hair! You could work along similar lines, for example a Cawdor without a mask, a Van Saar who doesn't looks after his gear - kinda busted looking, etc...

As for the Squats, i don't think Goliaths fit... They get Muscle skills... I'd go for Van Saar, as Techno & Shooting sounds squatty. :)

Long live Necromunda! :D

Cheers,
Oskar

I wouldn't like it too much, it would look a little strange.

I use a converted genestealer cult gang! The Cawdor rules give me agility and ferocity skills which fit the background and my opponents let me buy a maul for all the models with claws to represent the extra strength in HTH. they arehappy letting me use my own models as A) it's something you don't see every day, and B) the models are bigger so it is easier for them to draw LOS.

Some might, however I think its a great idea. The rule are just the starting point. Its a big galaxy out there! Yes its just a game, but you can't be expected to keep from putting a bit of yourself into it! It would be awful boring if everyone had the same gangs, painted similarly. As long as you don't throw any game breaking "special rules" in there. Beyond that its just playing pieces for a game. If you want to make it interesting. Go for it!

I don't give a flip what gang the models were from, as long they models have thier weapons, armor, and equipment modeled decently.
Some of my best Necromunda models aren't even from GW, though I did convert most of them to be holding GW weapons.

That's not to say I don't spreciate and prefer playing against a good looking gang. It might be worth the effort to paint them with consistant theme, or do minor conversions that make them a bit more coherent.

Here is a picture of my gang, the picture quality isn't great and their skin is far paler in the picture than it actually is but this is what the look like anyway.

No colour scheme because the idea was for them to look like individuals rather than a faceless group of people who just play follow the leader all day. Which is the way it turned out, the leadership has already been challenged twice.

I am so loving the squat. :D Please get some higher quality pics up, i'd like to see more detail. :)

My camera isn't great, any attempt to get closer to the squat would result in him turning into a blob with a beard, doesn't help that I have "poor photographic skills" as my mother always tells me, she hates me and wants me to fail.

Does it have a macro setting? That's intended for up close shots of things.

I actually think that looks pretty cool, almost cliche action-movie squad. I run a similar sort of gang, only mine is designed as being ruled by an "Inquisitor" and his motley legion of death cultists, former Guardsmen, acolytes, and Daemonhosts (Wyrds :D ). I like the rabble look, it's very sweet.

It does, it was a cheap one though and it's probably more to do with my lame photography skills than anything.

Thanks for the comments guys. That inquisitor gang sounds pretty cool devolutionary, any pictures?

It sounds like a neat idea, I say go for it. Necromunda is great in that way that you can really make an individual set of models with a unique feel and backstory for them as its in a smaller scale than most of the other games :)

Syko, do not despair. :)

There's a bunch of articles on model photography here, just scroll a bit: http://www.coolminiornot.com/article

Before you start wading through them all, i recommend you try this one, i think it pretty much sums them up: http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/101/page/1

Also, try taking shots one model at a time, for better focus. Good luck. :)

Nawwww no pics, my camera's even cheaper than yours. It's so cheap it's not even in my house!

Thanks eazy-o, I'll try and get some pics tomorrow though I'm not promising anything.

Edit: I tried getting some pics but nothing worth showing, I'm thinking about doing a squat gang next so I'll post some pics of them when they are done.

I'm closing this thread now, just so someone doesn't go posting that I should do it 6 months down the line. Thanks for the help people.
