3 other nice things I forgot:

another Battlesuit Commander I painted for a contest:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Tagsta/Warhammer40k/Tau/ShasO_med.jpg
Shame that I have no longer use for the colour scheme.. Probably have to sell it someday...

disclaimer: :D
The pose was stolen by Bruno Rizzos great battlesuit from frenchwaaagh.org
the base was inspired by the Golden Demon Winner Magmatrax by Vincent Hudson
and the Colour Scheme is inspired by O'Shova from the Tau Codex

and this 2 pictures are worth showing off:
A nice guy from a german forum did this photomontage right here:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Tagsta/Warhammer40k/Tau/Tau1.jpg
quite nice photoshop skills, aren't they?
another skilled user from tauonline.org did this:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Tagsta/Warhammer40k/Tau/Tau3.jpg

so that's it..

I try to update the thread as soon as I have finished new units...

look nice, well done,

thanks ;)

what did you do for the stains?
do you mean the chipped armour with the rust effect?

Just paint a few spots of black on the surface...
Add Mithril Silver but leave a black outline visible.
The rust effects are simply thin lines of chestnut ink.
:D

Wow, nice work! Great, crisp paint scheme, and I love the swampy bases.

One question, which green paint did you use?

Look forward to seeing the rest of your army.

thanks for the positive feedback :D
the main colour is GW's camo green but is almost impossible to cover the parts with only one layer of paint... You have to paint at least 3 layers over a undercoat of snot green (or similar colour)
quite annoying if you have to paint large surfaces on tanks and stuff...

I'm looking forward to finish the rest :D
Here is the current progress on a single pic:

well just like I said above:

another Battlesuit Commander I painted for a contest:
The story behind the army is:
I wanted to choose a theme for the army.. I had 2 options:
Lava or Swamp... I painted 2 test models (the red commander and the shas'vre on the first post) which I entered for that particular contest afterwards and then I chose the one I liked better...
Green won... See: Many people have red armies but no one does a light green one.. I wanted to change that :D
I was also pleased how the swamp base turned out...

/Edit

how'd you come up wit that scheme!
I was looking for inspiration on various forums.. I read about the tau camo in the new codex...I thought swamp would be cool and decided to do green...
Then I found a nice green colour scheme on a german forum by a user called "ancient god" who is also running a nice eldar thread 'round here
The green pleased me so much that I wanted to do a similiar scheme without copying to much of the original work..
I chose a lighter colour and added sections of bleached bone --- et voilá - a nice scheme was created

Have you tried using Vallejo Game Colour Camouflage Green? It's identical to GW Camo Green but has a higher pigmentation so should cover more easily.

Looking top notch there, pretty cool lighting effects on the guns and such, did you get the idea from that French army with the same kind of thing in WD? I think your's is a bit more toned down, which i like. Looking forward to the finishing of this project. About how long do you think it will take you?

exactly.. I knew these minatures before they that WD was released..

I have absolutely no idea... Depends on how much free time I'm going to have during my studies that will begin in october... I'm currently working on 3 other armies so I can't give you an exact date

thanks for your suggestion.. I'll give it a try ;)
