...and you could do one "Dream Army" of each force available up to 2,500 points. What would each be? For me it would be:

Beasts of Chaos: A Slaaneshi "Greek Mythos" army - Satyrs using the Gor/Ungor rules, Centaurs using the Centigor rules, Nymphs using the Daemonettes rules, etc.

Brettonia: A "Local Yocals" Army - A Knight of the Realm as the General, some Yeomen for his squires, Trebuchets, a couple blocks of Men-at-Arms, and a ton of Peasant Bowmen.

Dark Elves: The "Black Legion" army - Reaper Bolt Throwers, a couple units of Cold One Knights as countercharge units, and a ton of warriors.

Dwarfs: An "Engineers School" army - Tons of Engineers, experimental weaponry, and all different units (ie. no units of the same type) each converted with steam powered or mechanical equipment of some sort.

Empire: The "Militia" army - Assuming that the new army book will allow it, tons of Militia, Crossbowmen, Archers/Huntsmen, Flaggelants, and maybe some Mortars with converted crew.

Dogs of War: An Albion army - Truthspeaker using the Wizard Lord rules, Sacred Stonebearer as the Paymaster, Pikemen done Braveheart style :D , Duellists, Light Cavalry, Woad Warriors using the Norsecan Raiders rules, Fen Beasts using the Mercenary Ogres rules, and the Giants of Albion.

High Elves: A "Dragon" army - Lord on Dragon, Dragon Knights, and Arsanil with the rest filled in with archers.

Hordes of Chaos: A "Hounds of Chaos" army - All marauders and warhounds! :cheese:

Lizardmen: The "Skink Horde" army - You know the drill, Skinks, Kroxigors, Skinks, Terradons, Skinks, Salamanders, Skinks...you get the picture. ;)

Ogre Kingdoms: A "Lord of the Gnoblars" army - Gnoblar Fighter, Gnoblar Trappers, Scraplaunchers, and Slave Giants.

Orcs & Goblins: The "Wolf Horde" army - All Goblin Wolf Riders and Wolf chariots baby!

Skaven: An "Eshin Ninja" army - Assassins, Night Runners, Gutter Runners, Jezzail Snipers, and maybe some Globadiers.

Tomb Kings: An "Anuban" army - Casket of Souls, Bone Giants with converted heads, and plenty of the jackel headed Ushabti.

Vampire Counts: A "Wraith" army - Necromancer Lord with the Cloak of Mists and Shadows and a Warrior Familiar, plenty of Wraiths, Ethereal Hosts, and Banshees.

Wood Elves: The "Lords of the Hunt" army - Wild Riders, Waywatchers, some Glade Riders, and plenty of Glade Guard.

my planned skaven tournament army.

Time and money no object, huh?

Ogre Raiders of the Silk Road:
All mounted (Rhinox cavalry FTW!), plus Rhinox drawn chariots & scraplaunchers.

Plus the appropriate opposition of a Silk Road convoy, consisting of a bunch of wagons, all mounted with swivel-guns and cannon, plus cavalry escort...

Chaos Mammoth army, under the leadership of Harna Bull-eyed, complete with 10 Mammoths and a whole lot of bad attitude. 'twould be supreme.

A Warcraft-themed Goblin army using the Ogre Kingdom rules, with steam-powered armour suits as Ogres, backed up by Goblin Bruisers (Gnoblars) and mercenaries.

A fully converted Dwarven Arms Dealer army.

Maybe an anime-esque Skaven army, with plenty of ninjas, bad fur-cuts and clunky, warpstone-powered mecha.

I like steampunk. I likes it lots.

My army of the four powers :D

Khorne Marauders
Nurgle Beastmen
Slaanesh Dark Elves
Tzeentch Daemons
Undivided Mortals

All lead by a large conversion of the Dark Master/Nightbringer.

I'm going slowly and I'll make it one day...

Ogre Kingdoms: A "Lord of the Gnoblars" army - Gnoblar Fighter, Gnoblar Trappers, Scraplaunchers, and Slave Giants.

Dude, there is already a gnoblar army army list(I think they are called gnoblar rebels). It was in an older white dwarf, I think 306 or 307(don't quote me on that). Basically, what I am trying to do, is break it to you easy that it's already been done...

The Undead Orcs army, as I mentioned in another thread.

Skeletorcs converted into different poses using the Cursed Company mini. Zomborcs converted with the same minis, but with added bits from the Boyz sprue, plus some greenstuff work.

Plus, if time were no object, I'd learn how to sculpt skeletal boars and make some undead orc cavalry. Wraiths would be easy enough - the orc shaman with bone staff painted up in ethereal colours.

Dire wolves would become dire boars. Fell bats would become skeletal doom divers.

Starting to get the crazy picture?

I am planning on doing that :)

I'd rewrite fluff a bit and make Nippon a non-human kingdom. I'm not sure what list I'd use for it (maybe Empire w/ DoW and Ogre Kingdoms, maybe BoC or maybe Lizardmen), but I would use converted Kroot minis (love those forgeworld minis) with samurai style banners, etc.

A 2.5k Chaos Nurgle Beasts army would be sweet.

But a Dark Elf Infantry Army of Naggarond would be great, loads of Warriors, some Assassins, a bunch of exectuioners and a unit of Black Guard.

And a true army of the Von Carsteins, loads and loads of skeletons, a bunch of wolves and the royal Black Knights.

I'd love to do a Barrow Kings army.

I'd use Khamul(from the LotR range) as my Barrow King/barrow prince, or even the mouth of sauron
King (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/easterlings/khamul.htm)
Prince (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/mordor/mouth_sauron.htm)

I'd use the "Necromancer" model for a liche priest
Priest (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/dolguldur_mirkwood/necromancer.htm)

I'd also be using the marsh specters from the same line as basic skeleton infantry
Skeletons (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/mordor/spectres.htm)

The Castellans make perfect "Barrow guard" models
Guard (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/dolguldur_mirkwood/castellans.htm)

Shelob and the spider queen would make PERFECT "tomb scorpions" (barrow spiders)
Spider 1 (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/mordor/in_clutches_shelob.htm)
Spider 2 (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/dolguldur_mirkwood/spiderqueen.htm)

I'd also use variations of Sauron as a spectacular centerpiece Ushabti(barrow guardian) unit
Guardian (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/lotr/catalog/mordor/sauron.htm)

Combining all these models would make a fantastic looking army! A very dark, ghostish, and threatening feel pervades almost every mini from the Mordor/mirkwood/guldur/isengard ranges, and this plays well to the feel of barrow kings.

Well, lets see what was on my checklist:
Pure Scouts :Check
plastic DoW :Check

ahHa, I've got it, a fully converted New Model Army, useing DoW rules.

A Roman Legion look of lizardmen, Lizards with tower shields and Gladius. Aura of Quetzl being a Lorica. Skinks with Pilum and slings. No Frogs.

A Maurauder Horde.

Norse marauders, Cataphract Heavy Cavalry and horse archers. Its all plastic but that's not to say its cheap to do ...

Rather simple, a gobbo infantry horde. I will never find the time to do that. A gobbo all cavalry army would be nice as well.

I am also planning on a WE army, maybe a TK army, and (far fetched) a Slaanesh Daemon army, but those are more likely to be done sometime as the gobbo army.

Beasts of Chaos: a pure beastmen army, including some saurus to serve as extra gors and skinks and skaven to be ungors.

Brettonia: A real knight army, with time being no problem I would be able to make it look really good.

Dark Elves: the army of a normal house, geared for war against the asur.

Dwarfs: A warrior army, with as most advanced war machine a bolt thrower, just a horde of dwarf warriors and crossbowmen.

Empire: The former state army of Sylvania, all spearmen, halberdiers, a couple of knights, swordsmen and crossbowmen, it would have no magic at all becasue back then it was still forbidden.

Dogs of War: A pikemen army, I would jsut love an army filled with pikes, of coarse it would be supported by some crossbowmen and duellists.

High Elves: spearmen with support of a few units of silver helms and some archers, a real flufy army without any support from the more special units.

Hordes of Chaos: THe horde of the north, all marauders with perhaps a single unit of warriors with the general in it, it would look really cool I think...

Lizardmen: saurus, I mean, who wouldn't want an army of only saurus, big angry lizards all the way!

Orcs & Goblins: Just your average orc horde, mainly boyz and commons.

Skaven: a warlord army without any units from the major clans, just all those rats with a couple of more elite rats.

Tomb Kings: An army made to look like a barrow kings army.

Vampire Counts: The zombie horde(already have a vc army, but extra models are always useful.

Wood Elves: some glade guard, but mostly forest spirit.

The cult of the red gobbo, new edition night goblins, with rackham Goblin miniatures for all the fancy stuff (Including orcs-ashigaru and black orcs- samurats, master of sulfur Giants) painted to a japanese theme!

2)Beasts of Chaos Chariot hunters.

3)Skaven horde army for each clan.

If I had the money I'd buy up a chaos dwarf army as I love the Giant-hat sporting madmen. Would have a million blunderbusses and some artillery pieces.

Also want to do an entire Brettonian Men-at-arms army, and an all old school metal night/forest goblin army.

That would be quite a bit I reckon.

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull
06-09-2006, 22:08
Well for me it would be a 2500pts marauder force with some beast chariots converted to marauder chariots.

Then my greenkin army( a balanced 15k army under 6ed rules)

And then 2500pts skaven from each clan and then 2500pts of clanrats and slaves.

A Beast of Chaos army who's beastmen with a more diverse selection of species. Not just goats or bulls.

For example a minotaur unit will also have werebears, the warhounds will also be made up of insectmen and snakemen. Centigors will also have some birdmen mixed in (I'd model them so it would look like they're only able to make long leaps). Beast-herds will also have werewolves and a bunch of other animals also. The Bray-shaman will bean owl (I dont have 7th edition yet but for 6th I would of given him Steed of Shadow) and a doombull will be a lion man.

Night goblins with burberry hats and scarves, little rolex watches and pure pedigree squigs.

Oh yeah... that's disturbing. :p

For me(lots of greenstuff involved here)...

a lovely Tzeenchian Beastmen/Daemon force with lots of scratch built dragon ogres, converted minotaurs, trolls, many horros, flamers, spawn of all types, a huge Doombull to lead, a giant of my own making and the converted Lord of Change that I've been plotting for about two years now!

Clan Moulder- so many conversions and so many rat ogre types; plus I really want to do a chimerat and a Gloritch conversion of my own.

Vampire Counts - two here... a fully Egyptian themed Lahmian army and then a corrupted Bretonnian themed Blood Dragon army (can't put the latter as Brettonians as I just love the idea of hunting dogs as dire wolves and fallen crusaders as spirit hosts.)

Empire - Ind themed, elephant in the place of a steamtank, tiger warriors as flagellents, and lots of stuff I haven't thought of yet. :)

Indrid Khold
17-09-2006, 09:38
I'm building a fairly standard Vampire Counts army now due to time and money issues, but if I had unlimited amounts of either I'd go whole-hog on the idea of a Blood Dragons vampire raising the corpses of whichever foes impressed him and have every unit of skeletons and wights made up of conversions from other miniature lines. This would include standard stuff like Bretonnian and Empire skeletons, but would also throw in some Elves, Dwarfs, maybe an orc or two or some skaven.

I'd also take the time to paint it nice, instead of the barely passable level the army is at now... *sigh*

time and money no object?
my planned skaven tournament army.
1500pts with 250 slaves

all of them being the old metal slaves.Come to think of it, I think they were cheaper
*does maths*
90$ for 60 metal
130$ for 60 plastics
:o

Anyway, mine would probably be the skaven DOW one I'm doing. Except that one would have much more ogres and cavalry.

Other than that... I'd do every single army out of skaven models!

Gekiganger
17-09-2006, 13:51
Orc and Goblin - Reborn army of Gorfang and Skarsnik.

Dwarves - Royal Clan with almost no shooting and a converted 40m oathstone.

Skaven - Using all the points from the armies not mentioned to create an even bigger horde than my current one :)

Gekiga Out!

Edit: Ups! And a Nurgle army based around converted plaguebearers and chaos warriors with a few marauders

Gekiga Out!

Hmmm...

Empire: all 'Redcoats' list. Everything with GunPowder.

Vampire Counts: a proper Strigoi list with tons of Ghouls, Dire Wolves, Bat Swarms etc. Nary a 'ranked' unit in the army.

17-09-2006, 22:28
Vampire Counts, "true" Lahmia.

A beautiful Vampire Lord in charge, with a Krell-like Wight Battle Standard bodyguard.

Hordes of Skeleton from the Khemri range rather than Vampire Counts; a bunch of Ogre Sarbretusks as Dire Wolves; Carrion as Fell Bats; Tomb Guard as Grave Guard; a unit of Black Knights with steeds put together from Bretonnian and Undead ranges... and the centrepiece? An undead Mammoth, which sometimes appears on eBay (In place of a Black Coach).

An dwarf army with 2 bolt throwers, two units of crossbow guys(quarellers?),
the rest being close combat troops.

A tau army, with kroot, representing woodelves and dryads. With a krootox as a tree man.

A army of khorne mortal warriors and knights, some blood letters and a unit of khorne gors. No dogs or maruders at all, and yes, a lord on juggernaut(is that the correct name?)

Seriously, the point limit is *way* too low for a MNO list.

hmm, two lists, an all night goblin army from the red pox tribe and the other one a lahmian army with three units of grave guard, massed skeleton with a ancient khemrian flavour, dire wolves. Anything that doesn't rot, also undead ogre manhunters with braces of pistols.
