Ok, so this is my first Project Log on this site, hope to get it right >.>
Anyway, I've just started to collect a Witch Hunters army almost entirely because of the gothic feel and aswell as how cool the models are. So when I saw the front cover of the codex I just knew I HAD to paint my Sisters that way. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be any of the Orders actually featured in the book or not (Order of the Bloody Rose maybe?)

So far I have 15 Sisters to strip and then re-paint. The four here aren't from that 15, painted with a Scorched Brown undercoat, followed by Scab Red, highlighted with Blood Angels Red. Robes were Bleached Bone, inked with watered down Chestnut Ink then highlighted with Skull White. Hair was Bleached Bone, inked with Black Ink to make it almost completely black, dry brushed with Bleached Bone then with Skull White. Guns were a mix of Burnished gold, Shimmering Gold (?), Tin Bitz and Black Ink.

I hope to have these finished in 2 days time and the rest painted within 2 weeks or so. Then I can get even more!

I love the colour scheme, I don't think that I've seen sisters done that way before, but it looks absolutely fantastic. I especially love the colour you have done the flamer, and the way the red contrasts with the bone.

Great work, keep it up! :)

as Lady hope said, the copper like effect goes well with the colour scheme you've chosen. I cant wait for an update.

Very interesting. I myself am painting Sisters in a similar colour scheme for a client's army and it's nice to see a different interpretation of that front cover art. My own tend to be Red Gore drybrushed up in shades to blood red before using pure blood red as a final highlight with robes painted up to pure off-bone white. Only real difference is our gun casings- yours are bronze/gold which is very nice whilst mine are the same bonewhite as the robes (thinking of adding swirls to it as well).

Keep on top of it and show plenty of pictures. If I get a chance I'll get some photos taken of mine to show ya.

looking good, figured what colour you want to paint your inquisitor?

Cheers for the replies guys.

Darkstar - I'd love to see your version of the colour scheme, especially the guns.

Konrad - No idea yet. I have the Inquisitor Lorr model, I may paint him the same way as he is in the book. But I would prefer him to be similar to the Sisters. So probably a Bleached Bone overcoat with Scab Red inner parts. White-ish hair aswell. As for the hat, I'm really not sure: we'll see what happens with the rest of the model first.

Depending on how tiring work is tonight I plan to have another update with more pictures.

So would I. I shall badger Wolf Scout Ewan into bringing his decent camera in on Wednesday so we may attempt proper pictures.

are you gonna be using them on sunday?

Got back from work and only did a small amout of painting. Just the Bleached Bone bits.

Anyways, here's some pics - apologies about the quality >.>

This is the Cannoness I'd deliberating over whether to strip or not. It's painted better than I can paint, so I don't really want to downgrade it as such.

This is all the models I plan to have finished in 2 weeks time. The black blob on the right is Inquisitor Lorr.

Just a close up of some of the models. My favourite is the Sister holding onto the Inquisitorial symbol. There's something about it that's just so damn cool.

Konrad - Probably won't use them on Sunday. I'd have to use mostly Imperial Guard...Blegh...I have no experience with them at all anyway.

I should have the majority of the Scab Red models finished tomorrow. So expect an update either before or more likely after I go to Games Night at GW.

Update: Slightly behind the schedule I wanted, but still going fine. Done the hair and some of the shading on the robes etc. Still need to do the highlights and stuff on the armour but that's one of the easy/fun bits.

I should finished these 3 models tonight if I'm not too tired after work. You might notice the gold plate on the bolters. I'm not quite sure about this so far, but the idea is to have the rest of the bolter a really dark silver and make the gold more copper-ish. At any rate they need a bit of cleaning up since the gold paint is really horrible to use.

Expect another update in about 6 or so hours. As always comments/suggestions are welcome :)

They look great, as always!
I know everything about being behind schedule, I'm over half a year behind schedule on my sister-army ;)

Are you going to paint the edge around the bases green? I personally think it would look much better either black, brown or another colour closer to the colour you are dong the bases.

By the way, that sister pointing her bolter in the last picture in your second last post, the one with gold armour, is that a conversion? I'd be very interested in seeing close-ups of that model :)

That's the model, it's not a conversion. I tried to find it on the online store but couldn't seem to, which is a pity since it's an awesome model.

EDIT - Can't see it in the picture well but she's holding an Inquisitorial Seal against her chest.

Update - Almost finished the 3 sisters. Pics up tomorrow (should be finished then)

the gold armour looks very tasty- it looks just gold enough, but also a nice coppery colour.

Quick update for now.

Stripped all the golden models now (as well as an ancient chaos lord in termi armour). The 3 sisters are about 95% done.

Pics tomorrow since it's pretty damn late.

Oh and Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner really is awesome for stripping paint.

isnt Mr muscle like 95% skin-melting acids and alkalines?

Damn your Inquisitor's retinue. i will kill him somehow

Ravik
17-09-2006, 23:11
god octo: It probably is, so I used the whole gloves/ventilated area etc. thing when using it.

konrad - I'll have 7 power weapons next time, just for you. :P

Here's the results of the Mr Muscle (it even worked on the plastic bases...on one it worked too well, stripping the base to white.

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7610/projektjs6.jpg

Some of the sisters were damaged when I tried to take them off their bases which is a real pain. It means I'll have to buy even more than I planned.

Semi-update:

I have been painting the sisters, but the progress is very similar to what's been shown before in this thread. So I decided since I found out how to use the camera more effectively I'd take some pics of the fully painted models.

http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4766/cannonesscoleartl6.jpg
I may repaint this model to fall in line with the rest, but I will probably use a Seraphim style Cannoness. Annoyingly the eyes look weird in this picture and there's not much I can do about it just now.

http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/7618/othertwohe9.jpg
Just a pic of the two fully painted ones together. The astute of you may notice the overwhelming similarity to Phox's scenery in his Blood Ravens thread. Well, that'll be because it is the same building >.>

As for the armies progress... I'm currently working on the first squad of 10. The other squad (7) needs another blister pack to be a fully workable squad. I'm going to have 2 Exorcists which will be converted from whirlwind turrents and some sister rhinos. Two other boxes of Battle Sisters, 8 Seraphim, 1 or 2 flying Cannonesses, some deathcult assassins and maybe some other stuff.

You mean here (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=9947010801703&orignav=9)

It's actually a symbol of the Ecclesiarchy. When that model was made the Adepta Sororitas didn't have a defined link to the Inquisition, they were the militant wing of the Imperial Cult. Nowadays they are the militant wing of Ordo Hereticus as well. The Inquisition allowed the Sisters to continue defending the Imperial Cult despite it being against the spirit of Sebastian Thor's decree that the Ecclesiarchy bear no "men under arms" on the proviso that they fought for the Ordo Hereticus as well.

Ta, Katinka, I think that's almost exactly how I'll do the Inquisitor.

I've got a lot of updating to do in this log.

The army is gonna look something like this...

Jumpy Cannoness - Blessed Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Cloak, Book
Inq. Lord (Mkerr style)
3 HB servitors
2 Chirigeons
3 Acolytes w/ bolter + carapace
1 Evesor
6 Death Cult
3 x Sister Squad w/ H.Flamer + Melta, Book, in a rhino w/ extra armour + smoke
8 Seraphim, 2 Flamers, VSS with power weapon and bolt pistol
3 x Exorcists
----

I dislike the Death Cult assassins, and since there's going to be six of them I don't like to have so many multiples of the same model. I'm planning on using the new Harlequins and changing the weapon lay out slightly and make them look very imperial indoctrinated. The ribbons they have on them (keeping the model upright) are probably going to become scrolls. The eversor may well be one of the harlequins aswell. Going to try and get as many =I='s on them as possible. Maybe even on their masks and the such.

So yeh, updates soon I hope.

Small update:
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3171/backdoorks8.gif
I managed to get these cool arching window things, which make excellent backdoor details for the Rhinos. If someone could tell me what they're from, that would be great. The other Rhino has them placed on slightly better, in a way that makes it look like it actually was supposed to be there.

http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/7845/sidedetailsck8.gif
There's these things on either side of the tank. I love of the random bits and bobs you can put on them.

Yes the paint work is rather sloppy, but it's how I paint - get as much colour on as possible then get more detailed and controlled later on.

Also, since all good project logs have pet pictures (and I feel this log is no different :P) here's some cats in my house.

http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/904/cat2gw8.gif

I know this project log is no where near the schedule I had laid out last year. But here's a glimpse of some of the stuff that's distracted me from doing it.
Beastmen! :O (http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/7031/beastmengd3.gif) Got about 1.5-2k points just now. In the summer you can look forward to my Minotaur conversions (Ogre-sized Plaguebearers, hell yeh) and some hopefully nifty looking Dragon Ogres (looking slightly more noble than normal).

Looks like the Mordheim building support sprue (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99391199002&orignav=9) to me. (The bits on the top left.)

Kitty kitty kitty! You didn't tell me you have cats! I happen to have some spare cat food if you want it, I pretended to have a kitten and got it for free. Actually, it might have gone off by now. :eyebrows:

Why? Or do I not want to know? Well your list shows that its not just me that thinks that 3 exorcists is a good thing.

Anyway, despite them being the Devil's children, they are very nice :)

To be exact, it's a Praesidium Protectiva and it even comes with rules in the codex. (I believe 4+ inv in close combat.)

This is a nice log. You almost painted your Sisters like my own. Mine have brown leather robes though.
