View Full Version : New Nids 2000pts urban army

12-09-2006, 13:17

Well first of all hello and welcome to my first ever project log

After being a loyal SM collector for many a year the time has finally come to break from the Imperium and do a xeno scum army, namely Nids.

After much thought on which army to do I decide to go with a Nid swarm as I don’t like Orks and the Tau / Eldar just don’t hit that special spot. Also I play against Stormtrooper (keep up the good work on your project logs :) ) on a regular basis and his Nids which are awesome gave me lots of inspiration. In fact we both decided to do an urban force which was quite a coincidence.

So after deciding on the army the next big decision was what colour to paint, I didn’t want to do the typical codex colours and I really didn’t want to copy anyone else’s colour scheme if I could help it. After searching every corner of the net looking for ideas and inspiration I came across a colour scheme that just sang out to me, so with a few tests and a few changes here and there to sort of personalise it the colour scheme was picked (although dark it fits the way ive painted my SM armies - Dark angels Successors in Black & Red).

Now I know it won't appeal to everyone but hey when does it ever, I like it so I suppose that’s all that matters.

Also my painting skills although not at a newbie level aren’t that good so guys please bear that I mind with your comments I’m sure as this project moves along the painting will get better. With that in mind all the painting tips you can throw at me will be appreciated.

I'll be posting an army list and a few pics of my first test models later 2day I hope

12-09-2006, 14:11
Good luck with this. Hopefully you will have better luck than I did on the urban Tyranids, in the end I just decided to expand mine with lovely FW stuff.

And remember - there is no need to rush this and the great thing about Tyranids is that you can tankbrush/drybrush them and they still look good.

12-09-2006, 14:47
making mental note pick up BIG tank brush next time i'm at WHW :D

12-09-2006, 18:06
Well as promised here's a pics or 2 of my first few warriors, they were done as a test more than anything but i like the way they turned out.

the thing is i hate the talons but havn't got a clue how to paint them so i've put them on the back burner for a later touch up.

also a few pics of my bigger creatures after they were put togeather

i'll be posting the full army list soon

12-09-2006, 18:15
They look good!! The only thing is there is mouldlines on the top of the talons still, and they are quite noticable, so I would check them out for that. Is that the winged Hive Tyrant, just without its wings?

12-09-2006, 18:19
yeah i noticed the mouldlines 2, but they were only test ones, ive mad sure to give the follow up models a proper scraping.

its the normal walking hive tyrant that i'm planning on converting to be winged with some balrog wings from the LOTR ... i also have a proper winged tyrant as well incase this one goes t#ts up

12-09-2006, 18:34
thats a pretty cool army list, but I have found winged warriors to never be worth it, just have more leaping ones for less.

keep the painting coming

12-09-2006, 18:57
Looking good so far. I want that Trygon! I also see what you were on about the other week about the FW walking Tyrant, I might just get one :D

The talons are easy enough, just go scorched brown for a base, then some graveyard earth next leaving some of the scorched brown showing. Make the edges jaggedy, this makes it look more natural. Then for the final layer just use bleached bone, again leaving jaggedy bits. Its simple and effective. Here is a pic of one of my close combat Carnifexs to give you an idea.

Its not the best picture as its old, but you can see what I mean about the jagged layers.

Another tip - You have a photobucket account, you can link you pictures from there using the add picture feature in the reply box. This then gives you big pictures rather than little attatchments. Bear in mind you only have a limit of 4 a post.

12-09-2006, 19:13
i know what you mean about the winged warriors, they will prob get cut to ribbons by bolter fire by turn 2 but i really like the flying models:D

i'm going to buy so more warriors and do them as leaping for any serious games...but shhhhhh dont tell the wife she will rip me a new one

looks good on your Fex Stormtrooper i'll give it a try on the next batch

12-09-2006, 20:26
just a few more updates, ive got a few winged warriors built and base coated.

i'm using the FW wings which are really nice but for 1 thing...they leave no room for re-positioning the model, the wings are moulded in such a way that the actual model has to be built exact or the wings wont fit.....but never mind.

Any way here's the pics

12-09-2006, 20:45
Any way here's the pics

Where are they?

12-09-2006, 20:47
i really like the colour scheme, i do like tyranids but i don't think i could collect an army, i remember a friend bought a hive tyrant, metal one and spent 3 hrs trying to fit it togeher...

12-09-2006, 21:08
i remember a friend bought a hive tyrant, metal one and spent 3 hrs trying to fit it togeher...

Yep - a real pain, even when pinning all the joints.

12-09-2006, 21:12
i'm having to pin all the wings onto the warriors cause theres no way there staying on otherwise....dam pain

12-09-2006, 22:03

12-09-2006, 22:47
Sorry brother but I hate that colour scheme, the colours dont go well together and its far to vibrant for my liking. But thats just my opinion :D. I'm loving the leaping warriors, they look really nice. Maybe the scheme will grow on me when I see models ainted in a group

12-09-2006, 23:04
no need to be sorry primarch16 i said from the start that not every body would be feeling this colour scheme. but thats the thing with colours what floats one persons boat won't float anothers :)

but you may like them when theres lots, i agree that the talons look well out of place but as i stated earlier there on the back burner as i'm not sure how to tackle them yet

keep the comments coming though even if its just on the layout of the models and there feel.

13-09-2006, 06:37
I think the colour scheme is cool, but then again im biased towards anything dark green :)
Though I'm not a big fan of nids myself, the stuff you've done so far is pretty good. Look forward to seeing the rest done in time.

13-09-2006, 06:55
Looking good so far.

13-09-2006, 10:53
Thanks for the comments guys keep them coming, helps to keep my ass in gear on this project :D

Good news finally got the GW building spurs and a few other bits so i can make a start on the base's for those first 4 leaping warriors

Ive decided i'm going to pick 1 unit at a time and finish it before i move on to the next one (i have a habit of getting board and moving on, which leads to an army half built, half basecoated, half painted but nothing really finshed) NOT THIS TIME!

Its Chopping Time!!!!!!!!!!!

More later 2night as i'm at work working really hard ;)

13-09-2006, 15:30
Always nice to see a fellow 'nid player starting a project log.

Don't worry to much about people not liking your scheme, a lot of people don't like my 'nids as they are so different from the norm but if you like them then that is all that matters as you are the one who has to paint them all.

I also feel your fondness for the flying warriors both models and in games despite their short comings. I can't wait to see them all painted up, might give me the push I need to get back to work on my nids.

All in all, good start and keep up the good work!

13-09-2006, 23:34
Hi all time for a quick update just finshing the last of the 4 leaping warrior's

1st stage highlights

14-09-2006, 01:20
2nd stage highlights

14-09-2006, 04:05
one of the bases for the warriors (very much WIP) the marine is just there as an idea if i use him he will be repainted along with the base to look like stone.

Comments please :D

right just seen the time 4am :wtf: need sleep

14-09-2006, 08:14
Highlights are working well. Not sure about the base - the position of the warrior makes the whole model seem wide. Try some brass rod to make it look like its leaping from the statue, or have it crawling.

14-09-2006, 12:04
i was thinking that myself couldnt seem to get him right last night, i'll have another crack 2day

14-09-2006, 13:30
Love the color scheme but then I'm a tad biased as my Nids are green and black as well. I think I prefer the greyish tone for the arms and legs in the first pics to the later ones.

The action poses are spectacular. I've been away from my Nids for awhile but when I get back to them, I'm going to have to do some leaping Warriors along the line of yours. Very nice.

14-09-2006, 14:38
a few update pics for you...sort of finshed the bases for the first unit or though i'm not sure if the legs are right on the one leaping of the statue, but can always change it

14-09-2006, 21:24
quesition: is the color scheme inspired by the firebase issue?

14-09-2006, 22:38
ummm no as i havnt seen the firebase mag yet

16-09-2006, 14:26
ok a few more updates for you. I've finshed the first batch of leaping warriors i just need to paint to lamp post on 1 of them (dont have the right paint yet)

16-09-2006, 14:28
The wings are on the tyrant after a long night with a craft knife and some sandpaper, just need to GS them to fill any gaps.

16-09-2006, 14:35
Looking good, I especially like the posing on your leaping warriors. There's something very dynamic about them. Like the colour scheme, too, there's a good tie-in between the fleshy bits and the carapce, which is always good.

What's the list looking like at the moment, anyway? Mostly warriors, or are these the only ons you'll be taking?

16-09-2006, 19:36
Looking good so far. One critiscm I have is that the rending claws look odd above the scything talons. As for the winged Tyrant - very nice :D

16-09-2006, 19:50
I must say I really fancy the poses on your tyranid warriors *drewl*
Though, I'm not as fond of your collour scheme... but still, nice work!

This thread has inspired me so much... thx! I think I'll start my own thread where I too will show you the progress of my tyranid project! (don't worry, I havn't done much;))

I would like too see more stuff from your army.. so keep up the good work!:)

dark angel
17-09-2006, 08:56
im likeing your army so far but im just wondering are those the winds that come with the FW fit ir are they off something else cos the dont lokk like them

17-09-2006, 11:02
No there not the FW wings...i wanted to try and do something diffrent with the tyrant than just buying the FW model.

So i bought the FW walking tyrant then added some balrog wings from GW LOTR. Tuck some doing but i'm happy wiht the result. i'll post a new pic now that ive GS them and filled all the gaps.

As for what else i have in my army Gen_eV check page 1 i think there is a full army list there :)

17-09-2006, 18:28
Well the hive fleet has taken its first major causality and its not even 1/2 way finished yet. :(

While working and my winged tyrant which I love as itís the 1st model I have ever converted I carefully placed it on the floor next to my desk (yes I know silly place).

Then came the unprovoked and surprise attack from the stairs in the form of Str 10 Ap1 kid brother...

Caught total unaware the poor tyrant was caught in the open with no way to defend its self as I havenít glued the talons on yet

Can you guess what happened CRUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Kid brother steps on poor tyrant snapping 1 wing off, smashing the head in to bits and also breaking the tail into 3 pieces.

With a look of horror on kid brotherís face he ran off in a cloud of smoke and dust while I scraped my poor tyrant of the floor with a shovel. :cries:

17-09-2006, 19:16
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps tying him to a chair and stabbing his eyes with hot needles til they pop would suffice.

Is it beyond repair???

17-09-2006, 19:23
Well letís put it this way itís going to take a lot of TLC lol

I was thinking of calling a couple of the brothers, getting a blow torch and getting medieval on his ass

17-09-2006, 20:59
Damn that winged tyrant was looking awsome too, Just the right wing size for such a big beastie. I hope its reparable. I reallylike the colour scheme on the leaping warriors, very dark and brooding. The teeth could use a little work though, perhaps some brown shading before the skull white. Any plans for the FW carnifex? Since it is a COD army... right?

Looking good so far though!

17-09-2006, 21:39
wow that sucks soooo much

19-09-2006, 20:17
well time for a few updates, have been working on the winged warriors for the last few days so here's the results so far

19-09-2006, 20:19
Also the poor crushed hive tyrant has spent the last few days in the A&E department and i'm pleased to say he has made a full recovery with the help of a bucket load of GS

20-09-2006, 11:03
Yeah i have plans for a FW fex in my list :D maybe crushing claws and rams not sure yet maybe even a wrecking ball, will have to wait and see...i may pick something up at games day on sunday if i have enough spending money lol

20-09-2006, 14:56
not many posts does nobody like tyranids :cries:

never mind i'll carry on posting to myself :D still keeps me motivated lol

20-09-2006, 15:53
not many posts does nobody like tyranids :cries:

never mind i'll carry on posting to myself :D still keeps me motivated lol
It's the same in my tyranid topic. But keep posting, every once in a while someone makes a post;)

I'm curious. What colour are you going to paint the wings in? I have three flying warriors with the FW wings too (yeah, they are amazing!!) and have no idea in what colour to paint them in. Right now I'm figuring just to keep them black and highlight some with codex grey/fortress grey. But perhaps you got some better ideas?

20-09-2006, 16:21
Paint something big and nasty, that will make people post :D

21-09-2006, 23:14
right a few updates ive been finshing the 2 broods of flyinh critters

Comments please but there still wip

21-09-2006, 23:16
and the next batch of critters that need some wings 2morrow

once these are done i'll be painting a big ass nasty critter maybe the trygon r the tyrant :D

21-09-2006, 23:19
They looking good mate so far ,FW Nids stuff are so nice looking forward to seing the Fex ,Keep up the good work :)

21-09-2006, 23:19

I have the same problem dont know what colour to paint them so there going to stay black for the moment until i can come up with some brilliant idea ;) or you do and share it with me lol

26-09-2006, 18:20
right have finally finshed the flying critters all thats left is to drybrush 3 of the bases and there all done thank god :D

Ill be painting the flyrant next along with mocking up the 1st brood of stealers so will post some more updates soon

26-09-2006, 23:32
Nice, I like 'em:)

Would be cool if you included more than 6, but I guess there are other things you prefer having than more warriors.

Anyways, I really need to get started on my warriors... 2 days without painting now:eek:

29-09-2006, 17:56
Anymore progress?

29-09-2006, 20:57
I've just realised why I dont like these guys (there painted nicely, well based, good conversions... but something was sitting right...)

Basically I'd whack the hands on the bottom. I know it still works as is BUT the scythes look in the way where they are, and if the flying nid grabbed something those dont have the bends to be able to stab the victim...

Just a though but have a look at some birds of prey and stuff and see how they work. Those claws look like they should be talons it uses to perch with and scoop up victims.

Its probably been mentioned and I'm babbling on, but I thought it'd be worth pointing out.

29-09-2006, 22:50
I agree with asmodal in which the weapons should be switched

30-09-2006, 04:37
Trying to insert pics for the 1st time, so bear with me if there're 10,000 edits.....

You wanted some advice about claws - the best I've found is to just do bleached bone, with a flesh-wash that's heaviest towards the base of the claw, highlighted with bleached bone.

I would also recommend breaking up your highlight on the carapace (totally up to you, of course!) Yours just looks so precise, like it's exactly 1/8" across each piece of it.

Here's some pics of my 'nids so you can steal my claw and/or carapace ideas if you like 'em. Of course, if you don't like 'em, just tell me they're rubbish and carry on! =)

This next one is blurry, but look at the bottom claws on the closest 'gaunt:

Hope that helps, and keep up the good work!

Edit: OK, the pics didn't post, but the link to the gallery did, which is almost as good. Anyone know how to make the pics embed off the warseer gallery?

30-09-2006, 18:45
Hey guys thanks for the comments all good points there so lots to think about.

I have never painted Nids before so this is a learning curve for me as I go along, I agree the highlighting needs to be a bit more random and Iím still playing around with the colours on the talons Iíll get there in the end Iím sure lol.

As for the winged warriors I know what you mean but I tried switching them round it still didnít look right, but there growing on me the more I look at them so they will do for now I may change them later on.

Anyways slow progress at the mo what with work :( ive base coated my flyrant and made up 8 of the first batch of stealers and base coated them and also made 22 more bases for the others so lots going off. I'll get some pics up in the next couple of days.

Keep the comments coming though as it keeps me going :D

01-10-2006, 12:32
Well it's hard to work constantly with warhammer wince there are so many other things in life that you need/want to do. Just don't quit working and updating this project, because then all of this would be for nothing!

About the flying warrior; I've come up with a way, not advanced but good enough to make a little change, perhaps that finishing touch your warriors need.

Anyways, I made a light (I really mean LIGHT) drybrush highlight on raised areas and on the edges of on the wings with Codex Grey. Now the actual highlights are so small so if you look at the wings you will have to look really close and really hard to notice that I've done any highlight at all, but when comparing that warrir with a unfinished painted warrior, you can see that the one with highlighted wings feels a little more "living", so to say.

I've finished one of my warriors (finally!!) and I'll take some pics and write an update in my tyranid thread soon, probably later today, if you're interested in seeing it;)

01-10-2006, 13:35

Yep def take a look at that, ive been tearing my hair out on the wings cause i wasnt sure what to do so maybe this is the answer ;)

01-10-2006, 19:44
Thats what I did with the wings of my Tyrant - very very light drybrush of codex grey to pick out the details.

07-10-2006, 01:25
Right havn't posted any updates for a few days (busy with work and things).

Ive completed the 1st brrod of stealers here:

07-10-2006, 01:28

Ive also completed the bases for the next 2 broods:

anyways its 1:30am:eek: and ive got work at 8 so off to bed for me.

07-10-2006, 09:30
right on to something big and nasty 2day. i'll post some pics later 2day ;)

07-10-2006, 09:59
Wow!!! Im really impressed with how these are turning out (making me jealous!) The stealers are really good, better than mine - ooh dont tempt me to go back to Tyranids, Im just starting to expand my marines!!!

So whats the big thing your working on? Trygon perhaps ;)

07-10-2006, 20:26
Right i said i was going to be working on something big and nasty so here's a few pics after basecoating and adding the 1st colour

and here's a few pics after the 1st highlights

tell me what you think so far

07-10-2006, 20:34
Nice :D

I want one.

08-10-2006, 00:14

Wow. You......wow. That thing is enormous. Scale shot plz?

08-10-2006, 00:45
right i'm of to bed but before i go a few more updates.

ive done the 2nd and 3rd highlights done a bit of cleaning up on the carapace and based the talons and claws

C&C welcome as always :D

UnRiggable [pause]

Wow. You......wow. That thing is enormous. Scale shot plz?

I'll get a scale shot done for you 2morrow ;) but as a ruff guide a normal marine's head just touch's the bottom point of the lowest talon on the pics

08-10-2006, 16:40
Looking good there so far - but what of the head? have you started that yet? Have you thought about the base too?

The Keeper of Secrets
08-10-2006, 17:25
I'll get a scale shot done for you 2morrow ;) but as a ruff guide a normal marine's head just touch's the bottom point of the lowest talon on the pics

So in other words, IT'S HUGE!!!!:D

08-10-2006, 20:51
a few more updates, ive started to add a bit of detail i still need to use a purple ink on the carapace to tie it into the purple in the flesh.

08-10-2006, 20:53
oh yeah almost forgot the scale shot ;)

enjoy :D

08-10-2006, 23:42
Looking good. I wish I could start Tyranids as well, but I promised myself I woulden't untill I get all the stuff I have now painted. :( (Hopefully this will be some time around new-years (maybe even ask for them as an x-mas gift :)), but we'll see. I still have about 250 models spread out over 3 or 4 armies to go.)

09-10-2006, 00:25

just starting adding thr first few layers to the purple flesh parts

Right off to bed its 12:30

I havnt thought much about the base but it would be cool if i could make it look like it was bursting out the ground, have to have a good hard think on that one. As for the head i havnt started it yet i'm doing it last ;) mak you wait to see the finished item

09-10-2006, 12:45
i'm thinking of using a ink wash on the Chitin (carapace) but i'm not sure if to use a purple to tie in with the flesh or a blue to give the black a blue/black sheen when the light hits hit.

thoughts please before i do anything

09-10-2006, 13:19
i think either would work, but personally i would go with purple, as i dont like seeing two many colours on the same model. first post on this thread btw, im loving ure tyranids, they are all really good work
good luck

09-10-2006, 15:20
An idea for your base - you could use bits of cork board to create a crater for it to sit in with bits of plasticard to represent paving slabs and use random bits from the cod sprues.

As for a inkwash, try it on something small like a hormagaunt before you try it on your trygon.

09-10-2006, 22:36
I definatly agree. Much better to realise it dosen't look good when you've tryed it on a nice cheap (ish) Gaunt, rather than on a massive Forge World peice.

09-10-2006, 22:58
personally i would'nt give it a wash, rather i'd paint some purple (very watered down) on the edges and highlight it up using fortress grey it'll give the whole carapace a deep purple look.

10-10-2006, 12:02
ummm hadnt thought of doing that way but i may just give that i try ;) thanks Spiky

10-10-2006, 15:20
Ok first the problem:

I'm currently painting one of my largest critters the trygonas you have seen, unfortunately this FW model doesn't come with a base and I cant think of anywhere that does one big enough. So Iím going to have to make one myself from scratch. I have 2 packs of 9 rippers from FW which I want to include on the base if I can (maybe not all of them). Also I want the trygon to appear as if its bursting out the ground or has just busted out as itís a tunnelling monster.

I'm working on a couple of ideas at the mo invcluding cork board COD stuff and other bits but this will prob go Pete Tong in a big way:eek:

Any ideas please

10-10-2006, 16:37
You can make the base from a piece of MDF wood, around 5mm thick should do. As for what to do to give the impression of it bursting out of the ground, I suggested something a few posts back - cork board, sand and cat litter with a few bits from the cod sprues and you should be there.

10-10-2006, 16:50
yeah think i'm going to go for a mole hill idea....so it looks like the grounds been pushed up from underneath with the trygons sat in the middle and the rippers following it out. as i have another trygon for this army i might go a wee bit mental and cut the thing in half  and have it bursting through so half of it looks like its still under the ground.

10-10-2006, 17:13
Youve got 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10-10-2006, 17:44
oh yeah

10-10-2006, 18:02
For the flying warriors, have you considered swapping the places of the talons and the claws? With the Scything talons for arms, you could do a little be of work with the rending claws to make them look more like a bird's talons, which would work excellently for feet, and would bring them very much inline with the design of the hive tyrant.

10-10-2006, 21:04
few new pics for ya

10-10-2006, 21:20
Aieeee! That's looking nasty.

10-10-2006, 21:26
Looking good there. Not sure about the idea of using corkboard for a base - too flimsy but then at that thickness it looks odd too.

10-10-2006, 22:09
Oo nice Trygon! I like the purple :)

10-10-2006, 23:13
I think for things that big the Lotr mumak base with some GS would look fine

12-10-2006, 02:17
Trygon Done :D 1 left to do :cries:

12-10-2006, 05:04
Wow that Trygon looks great, I have always loved that model and hope to one day add one to my own army.

Only improvement I can think of would be to do something with the scales/chitin on his tail and chest. Just plain black they look a little unfinished as there is so much of them. Painting them like the rest with the yellow would look cool but saying that it is up to you, its your model after all!

12-10-2006, 09:08
I agree with the last post - the black scales dont look finished so Id highlight them. Just the base now eh?

12-10-2006, 12:59
ok guys i agree ;)

So its out with the paints again then :cries:

12-10-2006, 14:02
itll be worth it in the end, already that things look fantastic! looks very hard to paint... but you so far have done a good job, good luck on number 2

13-10-2006, 00:18
right its done at last thank god, comments please :D

13-10-2006, 00:20

13-10-2006, 01:22
That thing is sick :p. It may have taken forever, but it was definately worth it. Great job on the painting, can't wait to see some more models painted.

17-10-2006, 15:02
Trygons looking nice there matt, I look forward to blasting it to bits

Anymore progress?

19-10-2006, 00:14
he's looking forward to it too:D but not before hes had his fun with your army.

Ive got another brood of stealers finshed but havnt got a camera at the mo so cant get any pics :(

will post some next week or maybe this sunday if i can

19-10-2006, 09:33

Sorry about the pic will get better ones at the weekend

27-10-2006, 21:51
That trygon looks cool matt, Cant wait for barry to meet him.

28-10-2006, 09:33
So whos Barry then darrel? Need updates matt if we are to crush paul and darrel in the mega game......

29-10-2006, 21:19
sorry guys not much been happening what with work, but i've nearly finished th all the stealers then just the Gaunts and a few bits oh and the HT it never ends lol.

Up dates this coming week though

29-10-2006, 23:26
That's one fine looking Trygon!

30-10-2006, 21:04
oh your stormtrooper then. Barry is the one who sits behind woods/buildings and drops strength 9 ordanance on your nids. lol.

02-11-2006, 20:16
Well havnt posted much as of late due to work and other things. Ive just finshed the last of the stealers thank god so here's a few pics...

02-11-2006, 20:19

So now time to do start the next batch of critters :)

02-11-2006, 20:21
Those are really cool. The bases in addition to being excellent in there onright make the models look very dynamic and live.

03-11-2006, 09:51
thanks for the comments :D i wanted to try i give a sense of movement to the stealers like they were running and leaping off things, i thnk ive got it on some of the models but its all a learning curve lol.

Right i got boared last night so i put togeather Trygon no2 and my Malanthrope so ill be painting these off and on over the next few weeks, i have to get the core of my army done so i need to do the 20 Hormagaunt, 24 Termagants, Lictor, HT, 3 Ravener's and the 2 Fex's this will fill out 2000pts.

Only 53 models to build and paint  :cries: does it never end

Then when this army is done i'm starting a Necron army for next years GT i was going to do tau but a friends doing them so i dont want to copy, i may do them after the Necron's. i wasnt going to do Necron beacuse i was worried about the lack of dirrent models but what the hell it should be fun and i like the fluff behind them.

Getifa Ubazza
03-11-2006, 15:27
I love those genestealers, they look like there alive. The trygon is also a fine looking model. The winged warriors im not to keen on purly from a personal taste stand point, although the leaping ones are superb. The winged tyrant looks good and should look brilliant when hes painted. I particularly like your overall paint scheme, its very natural and real looking. When looking at your models i can really picture them moving through the city, looking for there prey.

Good luck with the rest of the army.

03-11-2006, 15:32
Thats a lot of stealers!!!!

Looking really good.

04-11-2006, 11:16
Looking good there matt, Id better get my marines up to 2000pts so we can have a game.

04-11-2006, 18:17
just a few WIP pics for you

04-11-2006, 18:19

And a baby Trygon

04-11-2006, 19:21
Looking cool matt cannot wait to meet them on the table. The stealers are fantastic the movement in them is amazing, shame to land an ordanance template on top of them really.

04-11-2006, 19:33
Is that an epic scale trygon?

Otherwise, you are crazy. Always a compliment on this forum though :)

04-11-2006, 22:00
It's a Ravener... :)

04-11-2006, 22:39
yeah its a ravener...but it looks like a baby trygon :D well it think it does lol....

05-11-2006, 00:58
Well, it's speculated that the Trygon is a overgrown sub specie of the Ravener.

05-11-2006, 14:26
right i have a week off work coming up so i'm planning to get this army done for the end of this month, so far this is what i have left to paint...

24 Termagants
20 Hormagaunt
3 Ravener
1 lictor
1 Hive Tyrant
1 Venom Fex

Then as add ons but not part of the main army so these can be done as and when

1 Trygon (def)
1 Malanthrope (def)
1 FW CC Fex (def)
1 Possible Walking Tyrant

05-11-2006, 16:21
Army ready by the end of the month eh? Good job Ive just decided to up my marine army up to 2k for the end of the month.

08-11-2006, 10:01
Army ready by the end of the month eh? Good job Ive just decided to up my marine army up to 2k for the end of the month.

Well i'm planning for the end of the month but you what happens to the best laid plans ? they tend to go Pete Tong

But all going well i should have the core of the whole army done by 30th of November which is a Tursday :D so i will be able to get a 2000pts battle in with them if your up for it :)

Then just a few FW bits to tag on i.e the 2nd Trygon, malanthrope etc.

Then its on with the next project NECRONS :chrome:

15-11-2006, 12:08
right ive had this week off work so ive been getting loads of stuff done.

Ive finshed the 3 raveners, the Lictor and ive finshed my first Fex

Ive also nearly finshed the HT which will be done 2day all being well

15-11-2006, 14:17
'Fex looks ace, nice to see the 'regen' head and twin-linked venom cannons for a change. Oh, and the gigantic FW hook cannons are nice too :D. Using them as ... flesh hooks? spine banks? gigantic hook grappler cannon things (ala FW rules)?

Looking forward to more of your critters.

- Salvage

15-11-2006, 16:54
Looking good there Matt - I guess our 1500pt game cant be far off then?

15-11-2006, 22:53
Lovin' the 'Fex.

16-11-2006, 00:35

16-11-2006, 00:38
The Hive Tyrant (not happy with this one)

And a few other models

16-11-2006, 01:38
I'm liking the 'fex and the Raveners. Great job on the Hive Tyrant's wings, they look awesome. I can't wait to see more.

16-11-2006, 08:45
Looking good there Matt. I dont see the problem with your Tyrant - are you happy with it now its finished?

16-11-2006, 12:44
i'm ok with the tyrant now i think, i dont know something just isnt sitting right with me when i look at it but never mind i;m sure i'll figure it out later lol.

Right on the last bits of this army the cannon fodder troops

44 Gaunts

16-11-2006, 22:11
looking great matt cant wait to meet them on the table. by the way can i borrow your red dwarf vids i love it.

16-11-2006, 23:49
Red Dwarf ? sure you can, the best brit comedy ever :D

25-11-2006, 14:14
Great stuff here, where did you get the bases for them stealers?

yes Red Dwarf is the best. :P

25-11-2006, 20:31
Why not add some markings to the middle of the Hive tyrant's wing membranes to fill up the black space :)

Awesome army though!

26-11-2006, 06:05
And put it on a round base please.

Rest of the army is looking great.

26-11-2006, 10:07
Great stuff here, where did you get the bases for them stealers?

yes Red Dwarf is the best. :P

There Dark Age bases i never liked the GW ones....just sand and some spare buildings bits and bobs chucked on.

Yeah i need to do something with the HT wings but thats for a later date have to get this army finished.

As for the base it has to stay on what its on sorry to say its a FW model and the Base and legs are 1 part and i dont fancy trying to seperate them

29-11-2006, 12:58
i know its not really the place but i'm just throwing it out there for C&C but i have a brood of 24 gaunts what do guys think about giving them the scuttler Bio-morph ?

29-11-2006, 13:03
I don't really think they benefit enough to justify the cost...

29-11-2006, 14:18
Anymore painting progress?

And are the scuttling gaunts something Im likely to face on thursday? ;)

05-12-2006, 16:14
yeah done some painting will have to get the pics uploaded asap....not much left and this log is done and dusted :D

Getifa Ubazza
05-12-2006, 21:45
Looking forward to those pics, I dont understand why your not happy with the Winged Tyrant as i think he looks great.

06-12-2006, 20:43
when are we getting more pics matts cant wait to see them.

24-12-2006, 18:29
Any further updates?

25-12-2006, 17:37

the last group of little buggers started

and the start of the next army which will be for the GT next year

28-12-2006, 19:05
Looking good there matt. One thing about the stealths - put them on 40mm bases, they are a similar size to a terminator.

28-12-2006, 19:30
Yowza, beautiful dual trygons there! Fantastic work, thanks for sharing. Good luck with the Taus ...

- Salvage

29-12-2006, 19:43

Light of the Emperor
30-12-2006, 04:30
Very, very, VERY nice! Excellent job. They look quite impressive en masse. The hive tyrant and two trygons are great centerpieces. Kudos!

30-12-2006, 08:51
Great army. Your big units remind me alot of gears of war. Which was a very cool game. I really wish I could play against this army. How much are those trygons anyways? Points wise that is. Are you going to do anymore nids or are you moving on now?

28-01-2007, 12:04
right need to raise this thread from the dead.

just when you think an army is done you cant help but add a few bits here and there :D

Im finishing painting to more fexs for this army another Daka Fex and a heavy VC / BS fex, also im painting 10 more stalers and finishing of 20 hormagunts.

And ive just ordered a Bio Titian which should be fun to put togeather :p .

Havt got a camera at the mo but pics will come asap promise

C&C always welcome

nightord - sorry for the delay the trygons are 290pts each so only use them in 2000pts + games

28-01-2007, 12:17
Sweet the bio titan sounds cool. Never seen though so hurry up posties and get it to his house!

28-01-2007, 12:37
pic of bio titan if you havnt seen one

29-01-2007, 12:12
does any one know were you can get big bases sort of 100mm + size ????

29-01-2007, 13:49
I just seen this thread. And they all look really cool. A bio titan will make the army complete and look really amazing. I always love the bigger things, But they only look good If you have a huge army of smaller and larger things to swarm around them. Which Is exactly what you have!

I look foward to seeing this done, and the whole army complete.

And please dont take this the wrong way at all and I know It would be a fair amount of work to do now seeing as the army Is so large.

But I think If you did It right a black wash In all the cracks and crevises would really bring all the details out. All the painting Is so neat so far and this would really help Improve the whole look alot. Just to make It look that bit better. Know what I mean?

And good luck with the Bio Titan, I really Cant wait to see him done. Could you make the base out of wood? Or several sheets of thick plasti card?

29-01-2007, 18:08
Wow!!! i love these ones :D:D
Keep it going!

hm.. can i ask you where did buy the trygon?

dave is the best
29-01-2007, 18:14
hm.. can i ask you where did buy the trygon?

Its from Forge world

30-01-2007, 01:35
yum yum. more please

30-01-2007, 09:37
Wow!!! i love these ones :D:D
Keep it going!

hm.. can i ask you where did buy the trygon?

Yeah as Dave posted trygons are from forgeworld, about £80 each, a pain to put togeather, a pain to paint but so much fun to use :D

But they do need your opponents permission to use as there not a GW model and they cant be used in Tornie's and there 290pts a piece so an expensive unit but they do rock

20-02-2007, 19:25
ok a after a while a new update finshed the next 2 fexs i more dakafex and a VC/BS fex.

Ive also finshed the next batch of 10 stealers so i now have enough stuff for carnage

Pics of stealers to follow

20-02-2007, 19:47
Cool nid army- you have 2 Trygons!!!

Nice colour scheme and well painted, but also really impressed with the bases. In my opinion a completed base really breaks or makes a model and yours are fantastic.

Looking forward to the bio-titan- oh and do the malanthrope, those things are really gribbly!

21-02-2007, 01:56
:wtf: :wtf: Bio Titan!!!!! You failed to mention this at the weekend you heretic! Good luck building it ;)

21-02-2007, 11:40
yeah i bought one in the end just couldnt help myself lol.

Should be fun to put togeather if it ever arrives

Starting the malanthrope tonight & tomorrow with some luck so pics tomorrow :D

Think im also going to go back and redo all the highlighting on the whole army the more i look at it the more it dosnt look good enough. may also try and do a very thin black ink wash to darken the shadows and bring out more detail.

24-02-2007, 16:02

24-02-2007, 16:03

24-02-2007, 16:20
looking good man cannot wait to meet them again, got a couple of tricks up my sleeve for them.

27-02-2007, 22:23
More carnifexs! Nicely painted ones too- might have to borrow some of your ideas to use in my own growing Hive Fleet.

28-02-2007, 13:03
pinch as many ideas as you likes that what these logs are for.

Pics of malanthrope 2morrow, this is the worst model ive ever painted, tricky bugger :p

28-02-2007, 17:15
Can't wait - you've got what might be my favorite Tyranid scheme ever, and I've loved them since 2nd edition.

If you do go back and wash/highlight, be sure not to overdo it!

07-03-2007, 00:30
These nids are awesome!
A bio-titan would be really, really cool.
I just started a nid army, and these are a great inspiration.
Looking forward to seeing the malanthrope.

14-03-2007, 00:04

26-03-2007, 14:45
well fresh back from the Carnage event at the weekend, My nids did better than expected wining 2, losseing 2 and drawing 1. Not bad for my 1st Torni.

And to top it off my Nids got nominated for best army, which just makes all the hard work worth while.

Picked up some more bits as well so loads of new stuff will be appearing soon

26-03-2007, 14:50

Looking forward to seeing what awaits.

29-03-2007, 13:03
Just a quick update as ive been putting togeather my walking tyrant, he is still wip as i need to remove a few mould lines here and there.

The guard has been converted to have the Lashwip Bio-Morph which is done with wire and GS as there is no part to use.

There will be 2 more guards done over the next few days then on to painting them

29-03-2007, 17:22
Looking good there mate. Get them don fast so you can use them in the 3000pt game Im planning. Got any pictures of the titan? a size comparison with one of your trygons perhaps ;)

30-03-2007, 09:40
Well not a progress update but more an update of one of the most amazing things ive ever seen in my life - the first few pics ive seen of my child :D so proud and happy

30-03-2007, 09:59
City Hospital I know it well! Great feeling isn't it?

Be a boy, be a boy, girls don't like Warhammer! ;)

30-03-2007, 10:02
PS. Is that you in avatar? What art are you doing? Just ask because Josh my eldest got Kata bronze at the nationals before his brittle bones stopped him doing it, but my Nephew is National Silver and His dad (my bro-in-law) Is an area manager for the schools (beast on the floor as well).

02-04-2007, 23:58
a bit of a progress update been working on the walking tyrant he is still very WIP but c&c welcome

03-04-2007, 00:37
Congratulations on the child.

03-04-2007, 01:30
at first glance of the pics of the soon to be rugrat, I saw the black part that looked kinda tyranidish... made me do a doubletake.

well, there goes your warhammer money :)

03-04-2007, 01:54
Oooh. A Genestealer cultist in progress?
Kidding. :)

The Tyrants looks like it means business.
I can see some mouldlines however. On the whip arm and on the scything talons.

03-04-2007, 19:45
Looking good there mate. Best you keep your spending up til the arrival of mini-matt. Liking the Tyrant too, have you finished the Malenthrope yet?

02-05-2007, 16:32
My god three??

The Laughing God
02-05-2007, 19:39

Sweet this log is back.

One of my favorite logs here on Warseer!

I really like the Flyrant, Nice bloody space marines. Usally I don't like blood and gore on models unless pulled off perfectly, and that's what you did.:D

Any more trygons added to the collection?;)

Very Very Very Very Sweet.

The Laughing God
02-10-2007, 22:27
just wondering, have you had any time to work on the titan?

27-12-2009, 20:11
Right Time to drag this log kicking and screaming out of the archives and back into active service.

Well with the upcoming release of the new Tyranids in January I guess its time to go back to the beginning and the 40K army that i love the most for those of you who havnt seen my other Tau 40K log here it is http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172540

Anyways I have been very good and managed not to pre-order anything until I have my hands on the codex come January, I do know for a fact that the Broodlord though will be an upgrade for the stealers and although I dont know his stats, pts or anything thing else how could I not have a few of these for my army. Not sure if I will use them in my normal list or save them for Apoc games, depends on what they do I suppose.

Anyways Pics of the new broodlord. Found it really hard trying to paint this scheme again after all this time so gave up in the end and painted to the level i am at now, pretty happy with it although it does rather stand out when I stand it next to an old model. it it still very WIP but C&C welcome as always

Brood Lord 1of 4

Surely the helmet the brrodlord is holding should be yellow and balck - after all that's what they kill the most of..!

As aslways - perfect!

27-12-2009, 20:54
Cheers Daz.... I thought painting the helmet yellow & Black might be taking the p#@* :)

I love the purple/green combo you got going. The blue terminator helmets look good too. Are you planning on getting the plastic trygon to compliment your others?

01-01-2010, 19:29
Hey there :-),

a shame that you weren't able to keep up your old paint sheme, because I think it only rocks. One of the best shemes for nids I have ever seen.
But besides that you cannot hide that you have improved your skills since your older nids and this is very nice imo :-)
I like the vivid colours of the smbiarch very much, I only would add one stage highlights more to the part, were the tongue goes into the jaw, the purple part there, dunno how to call it ;).
The claws are especially really well done, I envy you there :-)
Also nice oxidation effect on the pipes of the base.

Well done and keep it up :-),

I love the purple/green combo you got going. The blue terminator helmets look good too. Are you planning on getting the plastic trygon to compliment your others?

Well im planning on getting a lot of new stuff but what i will actually get will be a lot diffrent due to a house, wife and 2 babies lol

Right have finished the 2nd BroodLord so here are a few pics

Next to one of my old Stealers so you can see how bad the old stuff looks lol

The close proximity of the lights on the varnish has made them look a lot shinier than they are in person. Anyways C&C always welcome

I wouldn't say your genestealer looks bad, its just the broodlords look stunning.

Thanks for the comment, I do prefer the new look and may well end up repainting the whole army over the next year.

Hi guys just thought would share my experience of the new Nids

I have had an official copy of the codex for about a month now and so far I have a 2 big 3000pts+ games to try and figure out what stuff does.

The list below is what I have used, it was not written to be a serious list more of a chance to just see what some of the new stuff does and how it acts. I didnít intend winning either of the games I played (although I did win both) this was just a test of the new units. Anyways this is what I used and I will go through each unit and give a run down on how it behaved and if IMHO its worth taking in none Apoc sized games

Winged Hive Tyrant
Scything Talons, TL Devourer, Hive Commander, Leech Essence, Paroxysm, Adrenal Glands

Swarm Lord & 3 Guards with lash whips

Death Leaper

3 x Zonethropes

Doom of Malanítai

2 x Venomthropes

2 x Tervigon with Regen, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Catalyst

2 x 10 Gaunts

2 x 8 Stealers with Broodlord all had scything talons, adrenal glands

3 x 6 Spore Mine Clusters

1 x Mawloc with Regen and Adrenal Glands

1 x Trygon Prime with Regen and Adrenal Glands

3 x Biovore

1 x Tyrannofex with Rupture Cannon and Regen

Ok 1st up the Winged Hive Tyrant

IMO he is still very worth taking although he is very expensive mine, cost me 280pts and now he only gets a 3+ save and no Inv. In the whole game he tuck 1 wound which I caused landing in some trees. TL Devourers are still great 6 x str6 shots to weaken the enemy unit before you assault is really handy. Paroxysm is your biggest friend believe me. I used every turn to make some Devastators BS 1 while I flew round and ate every thing else near them, they didnít land a shot the whole game. Leech essence is ok worked better on the Swarm Lord but is good to get those wounds back. All in all still a good option and well worth taking

2nd Swarm Lord

Well this guy looks pure filth on paper but on the field of battle he didnít do anything. He is to slow with the guard and it was turn 4 before he got near anything. Paroxysm was awesome again as was leech essence. In the end it tuck the combined fire power of nearly 1000pts of space puppies + an assault by 4 units to take him down so he is hard as nails but when he isnít in charge range he s a big points sink just taking a stroll and getting shot. I would rather take a normal HT with a Heavy VC and a 2+ save that way I can pop transports and tanks at range and im still nasty in CC

3rd Death Leaper

Again another unit that looks good on paper but poor on the battle field for his points cost. He made the only enemy Rune Priest Ld 7 which was funny because he didnít cast a physic power all game. After that he didnít do anything now they have taken the ability to appear and assault from the lictors they are no were as affective as before. You have to DS them out of the way were you hope they wont get shot and walk up to the enemy so IMO no were as good as before and not something I would take unless I need the +1 to reserves and the no scatter on deep strikes. 140pts for the anti Physic ability is a bit expensive when you consider that it only works on 1 character so what happens when they bring 2 or 3 or even 4 Rune Priests or 2 Farseers etc. Not sure I would use them outside of big games.

4th Zonethropes

Awesome Unit and a absolute must have in your list. That 3+ inv save is brilliant I tuck a unit of 3 and they didnít get a wound at all in either game. They floated round dropping ap3 blasts and ap1 Lances like no tomorrow. Great for anti armour as Land Raiders now are only armour 12 to them and also great for killing the regular guys with 3 ap3 blasts. I will be taking at least 1 unit of 3 if not 2 units.

5th Doom of Malanítai

Again looks good and fun on paper not so good on the field, but I think this was more down to the way I deployed him. If you take this guy then he needs to DS in a spore. I didnít so by the time he got 6Ē near the enemy they were pretty much all dead from the rest of the army. He needs to DS in near 2 units, leech 1 unit and then pie plate the other. If you start him on the board he wont do anything for you trust me. Would use again as he is fun and getting 10wounds and then dropping a str10 ap1 template is great.

6th Venomthropes

A complete waste of time if you ask me, Why? being only T4 and having a 5+ save they get nailed. I had a unit of 2 and put them in terrain giving some gauts a 5+ cover save only to get 4 krak missiles in the face failed 3 saves and they both bit the dust on turn 1 and turn 2 in the 2nd game. I just cant see a use for them in a normal list maybe big games but with only 6 attacks on the charge between them there not that good, thatís 8 Stealers which get 34 attacks and have the same T and SV, ok Venomthropeís wound on a 2+ but it isnt that great. Overall no very impressed

7th Tervigon

What can I say about this bug apart from he is freaking great. I had 2 as troops due to taking 2 squads of gaunts and having a T6 6W troop monster that spawns more troops is insane. Having sad that on turn 1 one of them rolled a double 1 and stopped spawning the other though spawned so many gaunts that I didnít bother putting them on the board on the last 2 turns. Using Catalyst to give Feel no Pain is great, especially when you do on the swarm tyrant and his guards (now thatís just nasty).
Will defiantly have 1if not 2 in my army but remember the more gaunts they spawn the more easy kill points your putting on the board.

8th Gaunts

All in all great little guys as before I tuck 2 squads with devourers which was a bit insane 30 str4 shots is nasty a brood of 30 would be insane with 90 18Ē str4 shots.

9th Stealers & Broodlord
Still really good despite the loss of save and Flesh Hooks, just donít assault into terrain giving them TS and AG is a must to get that extra attack and to be str5. I just used cover properly to make sure I got the 4+ save. Broodlord is good high strength and Initiative is good his abilty to make 1 enemy model not attack was good I just picked out his power fist guys and stopped them attacking which was fun. Broodlord is expensive but scary and fun to use, good when using outflank.

10th Spore Mine Clusters

FUN FUN FUN FUUUUUNNNNNNN, what more can I say, dropping 18spore mines in to the enemies deployment zone before they have deployed is great. Although a bit hit and miss against power armour that str4 ap4 Large Blast will cause carnage with every other army. Really forces your opponent to deploy were you want them and makes them cluster in 1 area of the board were your Biovores will be lobbing pie plates. Great Funny would def use but 3 units which is what you really need takes all the FA slots so it depends if you want a harpy of other things.

Tyrgon Prime & Mawloc

Very hit and miss and a unit that needs a lot of play testing to find its best uses. In game 1 my Tyrgon & Mawloc turned up on the left flank supported by the winged tyrant, zonethropes and a squad of stealers. I managed to kill enough of the enemy to make sure he couldnít bring them down in his turn so they worked the mawloc scattered on to a squad of 5 terminators and killed all of them which was great. In the 2nd game they came out more in the center of his army and they both died the turn they arrived although it did mean the rest of the army wasnít getting shot but is was an expensive diversion at 400pts. As many have said make sure you start the Mawloc on the board turn 1 so it can burrow and arrive turn 2 for sure. There is also some confusion over the mawlocs blast ability, some are saying that you can directly target an enemy unit others are saying that it acts like a normal drop pod and you cant target enemy units and you have to hope you scatter onto them. Not being able to appear and assault makes them hard to use as well because they just sit there and take a lot of fire. Not convinced by them yet they need to be used to take out isolated units or threaten flanks, bring them up in front of the bulk of his army at your own risk as they wont be there in your next turn.

12th Tyrannofex

Ummmmmm this has to be the worst unit in the codex for me, Well overpriced not tough enough and why is it only str 6 when a fex is str 9 ????. Rupture cannon is ok pops vehicles really well but at 265pts before regen etc its very very expensive. Mine died by turn 3 in both games from combined laser cannon fire and in return in had popped a couple of transports. Just cant see the point outside of Apoc games would rather just take a normal fex at around 210pts.

13th Biovores

These guys are now brilliant and again a must have in your list the ability to drop 3 large str4 ap4 templates is ace and against anything other than power armour it will cause complete carnage. Twinned with the DS spore mines making your opponent cluster when he deploys the AP4 hits will wipe out loads. If they fail they leadership then they still fire which is great, there only weakness is from flanking units who pose a real threat so you need to make sure there in the middle of your deployment area and they have some CC support to protect them. All in all excellent unit and I will be having 1 or 2 squads

So that was my experience so far hope thatís shed some light on some of the new units and if you have any questions then just ask

;4303502']thanks for that rundown matt, im getting the new nid dex in a coupla hours, but first:

Tervigons. can you explain to me how they work?

In a nut shell they are a HQ choice but for each squad of gaunts you take as troops you can take a Tervigon as a troop choice. They are str6 T6 W6 3+ save with a short range weapon. They arnt good in CC so will prob get klled if not supported by other units.

At the start of your movment phase you roll 3d6 for each tervigon add the sum of the 3 dice togeather and thats how many gaunts it makes that turn. The gaunts are placed within 6" of the Tervigon and act as a new unit, they are blank & basic just fleshborers no other upgrades. If when you roll the 3 dice you roll a double then you can no longer spawn gaunts for the rest of the game.

The Tervigon also have synapse & shadow in the warp which are always active and a couple of other powers such as Catalyst giving feel no pain to a unit of your choice or Onslaught giving the fleet rule, but these 2 powers cost extra

If the Tervigon gets killed though all gaunts in 6" take 3d6 wounds with no saves.

His stats are WS3 BS3 S5 T6 W6 I1 A3 LD10 Sv3+
he can haveScything Talons, Crushng Claws, Loads of biomorphs including Regen on a 6+

He is great and i will def take 2 in my army and he his ruff 220pts with Regen & both the extra psychic powers

Hey Mattrs :-),

thanks for some infos about rules and gamefeeling.
Do you, or someone else, has some infos about the Pyrovore? I always hear "it's the worst model ever rulewise" and I want to know why, because I like the model very much :-)
I don't have the codex yet due to money issues, would looking forward to some small infos :-)

17-01-2010, 15:21
Ok nocturn, i'm not mattrs but i do have the codex ;)

Pyrovores are a waste of points IMHO because of teh following:

Their weapon is a flamespurt, which is essentially a heavy flamer, S5 AP4 assault 1. This by itself is not spectacular, but it does have power weapons in CC, but just a single S4 WS3 attack. When a pyrovore is killed it explodes, but only on a 4+ and the explosion is S3 AP-.

I would advise against them.

oh damn..how many points do they cost?
yeah, a flamer on a not-rough and resistant nid is such a bad idea...the idea of the model is so great and they made that trashy rules for it.
haha it explodes, and then on a 4+ and no AP. that's....yeah...Nothing.
Dumb rule writers... I would do better :P

Thanks and sorry for highjacking. Mattrs :-)

Wow, he looks amazing, model and base. The color combo is a bit odd, but it works. You did a really nice job on the power weapon and the rust. Tutorial please!:D

Are we going to see a new log for these guys?
