Marine Equivalent - Toughness 4, 3+ Save basically. Covers Necrons, some Aspect Warriors, Marines, etc...

Brother to GEQ, guard equivalent, Toughness 3, 5+ Save.

Thanks, I had a hunch that's what it meant... I'd never heard GEQ though

It's rarely used, much to the amusement of some guard/nid players who take great delight in people being fixated on marine style armies. Makes our life much easier when they're carrying lascannons instead of heavy bolters :D

sometimes MEQ can be reffered to (something that happens and when i get annoyed) as a fast moving army, something that has alot of transports and tanks. i like to call these armies mobile armies, not MEQ armies.

Buh? I've never heard MEQ used in that way, and certainly not on here, since Marine armies in Rhinos kinda suck. Eh, whatever, good to know for future reference :)

its just that i think some people got confused by what poeple meant by MEQ armies. i think they thought that MEQ meant Mechanical armies in a way that there were alot of vehicles and related.

but MEQ will always be marine equiv.

No...that would be MECH, as in short for mechanized.

While some eldar do have 3+ save, none of those have T4.
Mostly just marines, chaos and necrons, and those three (marine+chaos especially) make up the vast majority of armies out there.

The Eldar Aspects have ways of making up for it. Falcons are a notable difference in these forces, not to mention their nifty Exarchs. Gotta keep in mind that the key element of MEQs is the 3+ save, and the weapons used to counter them wound all those troops on low rolls. It's the AP2 folks want.

And hey, your vast majority is my slight minority, so there ya go.

Didn't say Eldar Aspects were bad in any way. In fact, I think Eldar Aspects are the best there is, especially for point value, if they do what they are designed to do. Eldars is an army of specialists that compliments each other.

But they are not MEQs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only thing in the Eldar Codex that has T4 is the Farseer, and it looks like they're gonna lose that in the upcoming codex.
