View Full Version : Something remarkably similar to Fishmen on Sneak Peek!

There's something that looks decidedly fishy on the GW news Sneak Peek (you have to scroll through a couple of times, but it's up there). Is it one of those aquatic Lizardmen I've been hearing about lately? Maybe it ties in with the Lustria Realmbook? Cool trident, anyway.

Norm

Edit :

>>Omigod, there really are fishmen at the Sneek Peak!

:goes to look, then realises there aren't any. :D

Nooo, hoist by my own petard!

Heheh, April Fool - though there are some rumours about aquatic lizardmen conversions, aren't there?

Fish men on April 1, I think there might be something in this...

Nah... not really my kind of model. I don't like it's tail. How can you ever field it as a regiment. Too busy, maybe it's a special character. But I still don't like it. The trident though is a cool bit, might be featured in future conversions a lot

Whoa, look at the wicked fishman! Did you read the message on the GW forums that they have announced a fishman army book?

*and yes it is still before 12 noon!

Edit: Nope, nuthin' yet.

I've got a repeater bolt thrower.

Anyone kind enough to post a link?

GW have only sent the link of the fishman to their best customers. You can see it when you login to the GW site.

How much have you spent in the last few weeks?

**edit - joking aside the sneak peeks are actually playing up: the WFB one says Tenehuain, but only shows the bolt thrower, and the LOTR one says Suledan-the Serpant Lord, but only shows Sharkey and Worm.

Works for me.

Apart from that, I'm desperatly trying to work out how much money I can spend on GW this month. Dammit.

IIRC they did the exact same thing last year.
But back then, it took a couple of hours before people realised it was April 1

Well, since the joke picture seems to be gone from the GW site, did anyone snab a copy of it? I would love to actually see the joke (assuming the existance of the joke fishman picture isn't a prank it's self).

I thought we had established that there never was a "fishman" on sneek peaks. GW didn't do a prank this year... the guy who started this thread did.

Oh sorry, I wasn't sure you had established it or if it had been in the sneek peak for an hour or so.

So are did anyone actually do a fishman conversion last year and photograph it? If so could they just use a rightclick on the picture to save it and the manage attachments button (below submit post button) to give us a look.
Thanks in advance.

I think they're made of converted skinks. That would explain their high quality.

Nope, the two Fishmen posted are real Fishmen models made by another model company (bugger that I canīt remember which one).

I very clearly remember seeing them on another companys website, painted and all.
They also produced a Shaman for the Fishmen, and all in all it was some really nice models.

*EDIT* www.dragonrune.com look for Komodons.

I win, you lose :p

WOW...
awesome minis...
are those 4 the only ones they have?

Falkman
06-04-2005, 07:12
They have a Champion, a Shaman, a Musician, a Standard bearer and 5 normal troopers from what I can see.

Guess whoīs writing rules for a Fishmen army? ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: GW really were developing Fishmen. My source at the Design Studio reported on both the Ogre Kingdoms project and a number of concept sketches of Fishmen just before he left the company.

Not this means an army book is forthcoming, but they have toyed with this idea in the recent past, and not just as an April Fool.

Festering Chantor
06-04-2005, 19:29
It's bin a week since the 1st of april, isn't time to choke this discussion? It has been proven that the fish-things is another companies product. Even if 'fish-men' ever were a part of the Warhammer world, GW would never do them. It's hard enough to find reasons for lizard-things and elf-things to fight, they never leave their forests. What reasons could underwater fishies have to go to war?
"The Dwarf sub leveled my house..." Bohoo!

(Note: This is ment to be strictly ironic)

who said children of mannan? mannan is a planet completely covered in water in the star wars universe - its off KOTOR

Festering Chantor
08-04-2005, 15:28
I know, freak coinsidence or something. If not SW ripped it off GW 'cause Mannan has been around a really long time...

Stouty
09-04-2005, 00:58
I said Mannan, I wasn't aware it was in KOTOR but in both celtic (or pickt) mithology and old WHFRP he was a god of the sea and water (hence the Isle of Mann in GB).

Festering Chantor
09-04-2005, 11:55
It's ok, I raised an eyebrow when I first heard of Mannan... or was it when I first played KOTOR? Can't remember...
