This is the list that I will be building around. Most of these models are already built and primed black and I will be posting updates at least every week (but probably more like every second day). The bad thing is that when I moved I didnít take my army or supplies with me, so it will be another week before my army arrives (for pictures).

The theme of the army is based around what I think of chaos. I always liked the idea of a bunch of mortals running around doing the bidding of a big nasty daemon who has decided to wipe humans off the face of the earth. To represent this, thereís going to be on snow type bases. I hate the GW snow that they sell so Iíve decided to go with gravel and paint it grey and then work up to white. Iíll add in some static grass to give some contrast and make the base look a little more interesting. I may find a way to add in some normal daemonettes as they are my favorite model.

Iím currently waiting on a GW delivery, which includes my basing supplies and Bílakor (sp?) who will be my Daemon Prince. Just wasnít happy with the regular Daemon Prince model as it doesnít look big or evil (just stupid in my opinion).

I also need to strip my warhounds as they were bought second hand, and although decently painted, will need to be repainted to fit into the color scheme of the army. Then theres my test knight, who came out pretty good, but this was back when I was going to do a Nurgle army, so into the dipper he goes :D

-----

Current work:

New Chariot Crew- I built new crews for the chariots. Cut the bottom of the axe and added on the end of a spear, to give a halberd type look. I had to add on to the back of the chariot in order to fit two chaos warriors on (capes take up to much room).

Mounted Daemonettes- I finished painting the unit, although Iím not as happy with them as my normal daemonettes for my Emperors Children army. However they still look decent I think, just not to sure about the steeds. The bases need to be painted white to go with the theme of the army.

I've decided that the main nemesis for this army will be dwarves. Basically as the army moves south moving through the mountain ranges en route to the Empire they stumble across a Dwarven mining site. Dwarfs, not being one to forget such have retaliated by sending an army to aid the beseiged village.

I'm thinking of using these guys on my Daemons base, basically to get the point across that Kal'wrath is a really scary individual  So the first picture is a slayer running away, and the second is his buddy who he left behind.

As a little update to my situation, my main army is looking at getting here in under two weeks :cries: , this also has my black spray, files etc...FFS. However my Daemon (B'lakor) should be here in three days, so I'm gonna look at putting him together and what cool things I should do with his base.

I would like to hear some comments/suggestions from people, I see alot of viewed but no comments.

Got my GW shipment today. Funny thing is it came in this really beat up brown box, I thought some bum left it there lol. Anyway, I assembled the Daemon prince and am still looking over ideas for the base. From the picture I saw online I thought the model was alot bigger then what it actually is and therefore am re-evaluating if I should do anything special or not. Would like some ideas to help me out. So heres three pictures wraping up the day...

Since you haven't really provided much in the way of actual pictures of painted miniatures, let me ask you a question regarding your army list.

Why 16 warriors, and in which formation are you planning to field them?

6, 6 and 4?
5, 5, 5 and 1?

Yay! No ranks in HTH then, i'll face those warriors any time ;) (You now need 5 models for a rank now)

If you want to use the new edition, you now need 5 models to get a rank bonus. So, for +3 rank bonus you need 20 chaos warriors.

Hey, 20 chaos warriors is a little pricey so I'm going with 5x3+1.

I would consider going with 12. Not too pricey, statistically pretty much the right number, and it's a multiple of 6 to boot.

I know in 40k having a multiple of six gives a free champion but I believe in fantasy it does nothing, correct? I like having an extra rank for CR and some weight incase I get charged.

Just a small update.

Lets play, "fix this model!".... This was my first time using green stuff, just filling in the cracks. I'm gonna try to green stuff something cool, but not sure what right now lol.

I'm planning to paint the Daemon the same as my Daemonettes. This means the skin will be layerd up from black, liche purple, space wolf grey, white and then white again (smaller area). The wings will be liche purple with appropriate highlights. Chains and armour will be gold.

Scorpio

That sounds like a very striking scheme. Lets see some of it comon!!!:D ;)

My stuff finially arrived. Ended up playing a mega battle today. Daemon prince rolled many 1's and ended up dieing to a paladin. Another group of knights ran off the table from terror. Mounted Daemonettes killed off 2 bolt thrower crews with engineers, 2 cannons with engineers and a group of 10 thunders lol. I ended up having 11 warriors and 4 mounted daemonettes left but my side won big overall so yeah!

Just thought i'd take some pictures of works I have completed recently. Will update new stuff soon!

Daemon prince on a 50m base in one unit and turn the others into a unit of 20 and 12?

Slyer running away is a bit overdoing it don't ya think? I know he's scarey but damn... Slayers don't run, that's like giving Jesus a jetpack, It's a heretic ideal.

Wanted to show some photos of whats going on.

This is my EC army that I shouold be painting lol. Most of it is painted but badly, and needs stripping or fixing up. My GW HoH record with this army is 5 wins and 1 tie and no losses. I will be taking this army to conflict but only when I finish painting it (funny enough I won best painted not to long ago with this army). Not in the photo are my mounted daemonettes the MVP of this army. You can see I'm really tight for space (I'm a university student) and they've been put on an empty box...

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/EC.jpg

Next up is my HE's. Again no space so they ended up in a droar... Another army I won best painted with. All cavalry, the mages are just for display. Hoping to sell this army soon as I propbably won't be playing it anymore.

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/HE.jpg

Heres an army shot of the my Slaanesh, the current project I'm working on now. You can see a nurgle knight there, that was my initial idea for this army and he was the test model (being metal, easy to strip). You can also see my work area for models.

nice look you're got going. I know its wip, but how far were you planning to go ont he deamon prince? I would recomend some more highlights on his body and some inks on his sword. Also, maybe add some etheral color to the sword, just an idea.

th0r
16-10-2006, 02:03
For the prince, the only skin thats done is the abdomain (white color) , his entire body minus the wings will be the same color. The sword will end up having a purple wash over it and highlighted silver. The reason I'm going with silver is to fit him into the scheme of my daemonettes who have silver daggers. All talons and horns will be blended brown to bone as in the chaos warrior photo. More photos to come as he progresses.

Sounds you need more mounted daemonettes. I wish i had units that would do that for me...Oh well! Keep goin we want more!

I love what you did regarding the white, it sticks out really well. Exactly how big is Mel'akor's model i was planning on using his as a base for a DP when i came around to it.

I thought from the picture on GW's website that he was pretty big, IMO he is not. He's only about half an inch taller then a warrior and his wings are about an inch up from a warrior. Having said that he is much better then the regular daemon princes, as he actually looks like he causes terror instead of stupidness.

I think he was refering to 6 being Slaanesh's sacred number.:)

Yeah I got that...

Updated picture. His pointing hand was a pain to paint, not to mention the forarm on his sword hand (spiky). Almost done this sucker so I can mvoe on to the other 60+ models in my Chaos army. Oh, and if that wasn't enough today my GW mail order came in... Chaos Marine Box, High Elf Archers (my HE BB team after converting), Dark Angel Veterans (command squad for Chaos) and 8 ML bitz to be converted and green stuffed into different poses for my Havoc squads. On top of that I've bought all the nessesary models for a Daemonhunter army through eBay and it should be all ariving in under a month (bought it in pieces from different people). On to the pic!

I thought I'd put a little aside in my project log to have a quick tutorial. When it comes to modeling I am a wuss. I hate building, green stuffing or anything more then swapping weapons on a mini. However to be an effective hobbiest (theres more to warhammer then gaming, when I finially found this out I had alot more fun playing) you need to try new things. I notice alot of people use GW trays and end up glueing them together (including myself) however you can never get the size you want and models end up sliding off because they don't fit right. So I decided to make my own (yes I know it's boring but its got to be done!).

The objective of this mini-project was to create perfect fitting trays for different size models (cavalry, heavy infantry) at a lower cost then buying GW trays.

First thing is go to your local hobby store and get materials. I originally was going to use plasticard but for some reason the store only had really expensive sheets, and the cheaper ones were to thin to properly support a unit of metal models so I ended up getting some kind of plastic board for $2.00 Canadian.

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/tut1.jpg

Next I picked up some plastic stripes for the siding at $3.00

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/tut2.jpg

First I lined the mini's up and used a marker to outline the demensions.

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/tut3.jpg

Then after cutting out with a model knife and ruler, lined up the stripes to get the length needed for the siding.

http://www.freewebs.com/th0r/tut4.jpg

th0r
17-10-2006, 04:24
After glueing all the sides together I end up with my finished product in under 5 minutes. Not to mention I can get 20 such trays out of the material I bought... not bad compared to the $10 I would have spent on 4 GW trays.

Progress has been slow due to overload of GW related stuff. Right now I'm converting up my Havocs for 40k incase I end up playing in a tournament next week.... On the project front, I'm currently stripping the warhounds (bought second hand). I also rebuilt my chaos knights so there weapons are alittle varied. I also built bases for my chariots and they will be the next item to paint after the daemon prince.

Oh and did I mention how I have an entire Grey knight army sitting infront of me now!! So little time :cries: Then theres my High Elf Blood Bowl team but luckily theres no need to get those done so there on the back burner for now.

Just a better shot showing the newest painting area of my DP, the side of his chest. I know it seems slow but the way I do his skin takes about an hour per section, were talking codex grey, space wolf grey, white and white again which really adds up to a lot of time.

I like how the skin turned out on the Demon Prince, he's lookingvery very nice and nasty.

I think the sides of that tray you made for the chaos warriors are too high. It actually looks like they are standing in a box and not marching. Try sloping the slides a little, or dremel a 45 degree angle off what you already made, as well as take some off the top.

Keep it up!

th0r

The daemonettes are very simple, if a little time consuming to do.

1.Start by priming them black
2.Water down purple and apply
3.Codex grey the entire model, leaving purple in the areas of shading
4.Space wolf grey inside the grey areas, leaving a bit of grey showing
5.Light coat of white inside the SW grey areas leaving a little SW grey showing
6. Another light coat in a smaller area then previous.

When done they give off a bit of a "glow", and look quite good on the battleflied in addition to standing up to the 3 inch test!
