Fast mobile army in a nutshell. I can easily get into combat quickly against shooting/defence armys or hold back and trust in my armor. Basically it lets me pick my own fights.

The Commander will go with the princes and the two mages will go with the silver helms if needed to avoid being shot.

The Chariots will support the Silver Helms/Princes where it's needed. Or if they're spare will be used for war machine hunting.

The Bolt Throwers will be a good defence towards such armies as Chaos ect.

Magic wise.

7 Power Dice, 4 Dispel. The Seer mage will be taking Fury of Khaine and Flames of the Phoenix ( 2 and 3 dice for each spell thanks to Jewel of the Dusk ). The other mage will use his two dice to throw out whatever spell he can whilst ofcourse I'll keep the ring till last to use. So basically I should be getting off 2-3 spells + ring per turn.

I was debating droping the silver helms altogether for spearmen+archers and then the the bolt throwers for some swordsmen. But I decided I'd perfer a more hard hitting adaptable army.

C&C welcome.

if you wanted to, you could always put a mage into one of the chariots- it would give him a better line of sight for spells

That's true I suppose, although that would leave them rather screwed against cannons ect.

It would also save another 34 points though to put them both in chariots.

Not a bump. Honest.

Enchanted shield can't be taken with other magic armour in 7th ed.

Quick warning, with nothing but cavalry and 3 chariots you may get bored with this very fast. Plus you'll hear no end of complaints regarding cavalry and mage-hammer.

If this doesn't bother you it does look pretty solid. Your mages will get tonked from missle fire in the first turn though as you don't have any units to hide them in now the targetting restrictions have been relaxed... may as well put them in the chariots.

I think the above comments sum things up a bit... get some infantry!

cheers,

Still reckon a balanced force would be more fun but fair enough, to each his own.

Ok then, I would still tinker with your commander a bit. Although it gives you a bit more of an edge in later turns, the S5 the Sword of Might offers will probably not cut it. Better, I think, to take the S6 on the charge that a lance offers, get the guaranteed kills, and tough it out in later turns if you're still there. Also, drop the Dragonscale Shield and retake the Helm of Fortune. A couple of ill-rolled 1's and horses or zombies will take him down. Better to take the re-roll... even if it means you don't have enough to get a shield as well.

Alternatively, how about greatweapon, Helm of Fortune and Guardian Phoenix? In my experience this guy is near indestrucable and, even though not as good as his 6th edition S6 counterpart, can still deal out a bit of damage and survive. At least this way you don't sacrifice a Magic Item slot for the S5.

May be best to try what you've got so far before doing much else though... see what works best and how lodged in combat you get.

cheers,
