I'm just startin BFG and am doing a tau fleet, though i have been playin 40k for over a year now, and i need some criticism on my first fleet list:

Flag ship:
Custodian Class Carrier- Aun'o 75pts
Kor'o 80pts 465pts
Protector Class Cruisers(3) 570pts
Protector Variant (1)* 190pts
Castellan Class Escorts(4) 200pts
Warden Class Escorts(3) 90pts

TOTAL: 1515pts
*the protector variant uses the rules from the BFG article: Distant Darkness

Be brutal about the list if necessary.

Use these rules instead ;) :

Still, if you're intent on using the IA3 rules, this list seems as good as any other - you've avoided the fire-magnet that is the Emissary at least.

thanks shinnentai, i'll have a look at de fleet list
why are emissarys fire magnets?

I'd be willing to bet that unless that list has hit the SG website (hadnt last time I was there, but that was months ago admittedly), it'll get taken down by the Warseer Inquisition as soon as they see it.

Thought I should point that out.

Harlequin21 : the IA3 list's Emissary has a lot of weaponry on it for just a 4 hit point ship. That means its survivability to points ratio is going to be pretty low for a capital ship. IE 130pts for a ship that is crippled in 3 hits, although its 6+ armour prow helps it in some situations of course. Given its confused weapons loadout I'd agree with your all-Protector cruiser force.

Paddy : you seem to be a little confused as to what I linked to there. That's the fan-made list that has been in development over at the SG forums. It started way back in August 2005 and doesn't take a single idea out of IA3. All of the artwork and icons are original too.

In any event the IA3 rules are now available as a free download either from the Forgeworld rules page or the SG BFG experimental rules page.

A moment of laxity spawns a lifetime of heresy

Good good, was just concerned the IP police might be knocking down the door if it wasn't.
