I am new to WFB & have yet to play a full game. That being said...heres my list...ive been told its cheesy...which to me means utilizing a list effectively...but what do you guys think?

Level 3 Wizard LOrd w/ lore of the heavens, wizards staff, dispel scroll, & holy relic - 260

Can't speak for the rest as I do not have the Empire Army Book, but your wizards are illegal, magic items are unique, you can only have one of each (not 2x armour of tarnus).

oops!...okay...take 5 points off my total & instead I will give one of the wizards...the white cloak...besides that anyone see aanything bad...?

yeha artillery/gunlines are quite boring, i used to play one a year or so ago. its fun for the first few games, blowing things to hell and all, but it gets old real quick :(

well i also plan to play orcs & i have a dogs of war army ready to go...so this is probably my tourney army...the cheese wizards of nuln...lol...

With 7ed this type of army has lost some of it's punch, yet remaining as boring as ever.

Wizards can now kill themselves quite quickly and the new charge/overrun rules means that flank charges are even deadlier.

Gunlines tend to fail at tournaments because many players will simply give up and hide behind terrain, settling for a tie. You don't win tournaments with tied games.

Your list is illegal in various ways and could be better in some.

Drop the Wizard Staff and Dispel Scroll so that you can take the Rod of Power, which allows you to use left over dice from one magic phase in the next. And why not level 4?

Both mages have 60 point of Magic items (their max is 50) with the illegally duplicated Armor of Tarnus (35 points). I would ditch the armor entirely. Give one Wizard a dispell scroll and the Doomfire Ring (if your going all out with magic, then go all out). Give the other wizard the Seal of Destruction and see if you can deprive your opponent of his best spell since you will have another dispel scroll and the Rod of Power.

Your detachments are one model too large. A Detachment can have no more then one half the parent units models, rounded down. Additionally, detachments are not allowed any upgrades, and that includes Marksmen.

You should consider replacing some of the spearmen with Swordsmen. They have better Weapons Skill, Initiative, and save, for the same cost, which can be helpful at times.

Also as you have 4 parent units and 6 missile detachments, you should consider mixing your ranged firepower. Perhaps a unit or two of Crossbowmen. More range, but less Armor piercing.

Finally, you can reduce the cheese and open up tactical options by adding melee detachments, which swordmens and free company are excellent for.

This is a lot of points for a few models. You would probably be better making your units of State Troops larger and getting a Captain (since he would be your 4th hero) to strengthen your leadership for the unit farthest from your General (Heck, he could be the General).

Where is your Hellblaster Volley Gun? You need one for a proper Artillery Train :)

And with gunline, a unit of Huntsmen can be useful to do a little march blocking.

Drop Pizarro for stronger regiments and perhaps another mage and make the first one lvl. four. You will drain his dices, and once he is out even a lvl. 1 mage can do serious harm. Drop armour and mundane protection for your maged, just put them in units. Once they are in cc you have lost anyway. Use the ring of fire. Pray that your enemy is lame...

I emailed Games Workshop Hobby Service pertaining to the units i could use in creating an Artillery Train of Nuln below are the responses i got.

No.

The normal armybook rules apply. But as a list of units you should build
your army out of it is fine.

if u are refering to the 'back-of-book' list in last ed. empire codex, they are, and always have been just a bit of fun, they are illeagal at turnaments, and you have to ask to use them in friendly games, they were never meant to be used .

the list would work a few things i have to say and here it is
your parent units are too small to work
and are your dogs of war special or rare cuz if there speacial then you have a bit to many
and flyers and skirmishers will totally destroy the army

When i Put No Dogs of War, i Mean the New Empire army Book doesn't allow Dogs of War
