Does anyone out there know if there are any rules out there for the use of Squiggoths in the Warhammer world an if so where I might find them? I have a new Orcs & Goblin army that need a really cool centerpiece. I am using smaller Squiggoths I converted as a stand in for my chariots and thought that a bigger one would be great. Thanks for the help in advance.

at least it's not a space ork leading your troops...

Use the rules for the Forgeworld Ogre Bull Rhinox Rider and just use three or four orcs instead of one ogre to ride the thing. Fits very well :)

Brilliant idea Avian. That could work very well. Just don't use the gargantuan sqiggoth. Use the baby one.

NakedFisherman

I'd say it's not particularly brilliant considering squiggoths don't exist.

Neither do dragons, chimeras or Chosen chaos knights, at least to my knowledge ;)

That's what I get for being ambiguous.

How about using the Chaos Mammoth rules ? Squiggoths are big enough.

Indeed.

I totally disagree. Why not just use the giant rules? Maybe not the best representation, but then you get it within the rules. Just imagine that for example "pick up and..." are some cool equivalent a squiggoth would have done.

EDIT: You can cram just about anything into the warhammer world, just because GW didn't mention it doesn't mean there is no place for it. If YOU put it in there, then it is in there.

There is a Kroot Warhammer Fantasy army, looks nice too

Go for a squiggoth

There are a lot of people using models for stuff that doesn't "exist" in the whfb world, do whatever you like it's your figures.

Use the baby one (the one that fits onto a chariot base) as an Orc Chariot or as an Ironback Boar.

TheWarSmith
18-10-2006, 15:27
There's no "baby" squiggoth to my knowlege. Just the gargantuan and non gargantuan

normal one: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/squiggoth.htm

gargantuan: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/snapdragon.htm

The normal one would have a tough time fitting onto a normal chariot base IMO.

As for them "not existing", it's a fantasy world with fantasy models. I'm always a fan of altering things, as I hate 100% canon settings(which is why i hate starwars roleplay). If you're running an O&G list, I'd run it as either a giant or a unit of rhinox riders.

I think it would make a fantastic centerpiece for an orc army. The ONLY thing I'd be a bit dodgy of is the howdah, as it's covered in metal, which isn't the orc style(wood baby!)

Heck yeah.

I think a squiggoth would be fantastic.

We've seen a few fantastic conversions already, and I can't think of anyone who would honestly be unhappy to see a killer-looking squiggoth on the table.

Well Im split on this one because as much as I hate seeing Fantasy and 40k blending together, I do love squiggoths:D I don't know how you'd make them chariots though, they're waaaaay too big.

TheWarSmith
18-10-2006, 21:39
It's really not 40k blended into fantasy. As I mentioned, I'd look into altering it's howdah so it's not so metallic to give it a more OrC look and not so much OrK look.

Why can't there be dinosaur like things in fantasy. Oh wait, there already ARE!!!

How is it a paradox?

Using the argument that there are no [X] in the warhammer world, so that's why they don't appear when converting [Y], which also doesn't exist in the Warhammer world.

As far as I'm aware, Squiggoths are very a big species of Squigs.

And Squigs exist in Fantasy dont they?

Yes, in 40K.

They're not the same.

As a parallel question: humans exist in 40K, so does that mean there's vampires?

Simsandwich

I don't see why there couldn't be vampires.
The warp spews out some pretty nasty stuff.

Well, there's plague zombies... and I seem to recall a story in Warhammer Monthly about a "vampire" (he was half-daemon IIRC).

Wow fellas, didnt xpect this much of a turn out on this one. INteresting ideas beign thrown around. I lke all of the ideas though. I am currently converting 2 of the star wars mini of the creatue called a "reek" to carry the chariot buckets to represent my chariots.

Thanks to the wonder that is ebay, I have also purchase the larger toy version of the same creature for a bigger sqiggoth. With a few bitz and the wonders of green stuff, I think I will be very happy. If they cant be used in the game then o well, they will look cool anyways.

BTW, someone earlier in the thread mentioned a Kroot fantasy army that looked really good. Any links to that army. I am a huge Kroot fanatic in 40k and toyed with the idea of a Kroot fantasy army based off of Wood Elves. WOuld love to see this army to see what might have been.

Yes it is.

And who are you people to say there aren't gargantuan plain-dwelling beasts roaming around the badlands? There were no rinox or giant mammoth until recently, and you don't seem to have much of a problem with those. Do you only accept ideas emerging from official GW institutions? What happened to the creativity and artistic freedom of the individual player?

If it looks orcy and there's nothing canon to tell me it absolutely does not exist within the boundaries of the Warhammer setting, I'm all for it.

Squiggoths ahoy!

I agree, at the end of the day it's fantasy, the only limit to what can exist is your imagination

Axel

How do you know that Squiggots do not exist in the WF world? Just because we have not seen them in the standard background?

Some creatures, eg. like the Chaos Mammoth, need some time to get the spotlight they deserve.

TheWarSmith

Arguing that ANYTHING doesn't exist in warhammer FANTASY is rediculous. use your imagination. If it's within reason, go with it. As for feel, tell me how the squiggoth DOESN'T fit into fantasy world.

The main thing is that 40k doesn´t streach over into fantasy.

Arguably it fits better, as squigs are much higher profile creatures in fantasy than they are in 40k, where they are a wargear choice rather than a real regiment as they are in fantasy.

The main thing is that there is no limit to what our imagination and creativity can provide. Limiting the game strictly because it doesn't fall into somebody else's creativity set is boring.

Nobody ever comes up to me and says "your army doesn't make sense, take it off the table"

Disruptor: Good point there. I see no reason why warpstone evolution over time could create squiggoths.
