Hi again!
i've been posting loads of stuff here lately so i thought i'd show you my new high marshal that i've just finished.
this fig was a spur of the moment thing which involved me putting my hand into the bits box and grabbing anything i could see, all the bits i found seem to add upto a cool black templar conversion- helbrechts sword and backpack, a metal plasma pistol, the iron halo of the terminator chaplain and a classic commander fig which i've always liked.
the hair on the commander didn't look very black templarish so i shaved it off and added a bionic eye with green stuff, now he looks hard!
i'm very pleased with how he turned out, i know the pose may not be everyones cup of tea but i like the classic commander pose and it's more of an icon on the battle field.
painting was in line with my other black templar stuff, black armour, red swirls, freehand, yadda yadda blah blah.
any feedback would be cool! (just gotta wait for mr brushyourteeth to come along and rip it apart)
cheers! Daz

looks exelent, the cloak and tatoo are especially excellent.

the sword as well is great, you didnt by any chance paint the swords on the new farseer model did you? ( the one with the sword and dagger)

Quality as always.

The inside of that cloak is obscene. My Tourettes Syndrome makes stuff like that utterly impossible :D

Very, very nice, Razza. I especially like the little eagle on his bald head. It's a very well painted model. Keep up the good work.

P.S.: which eldar things did you paint?

beautiful, all those little things (like the backpack) really make him look even more like a space marine hero.

Impressive as always razza, but now that I've seen spacemunkies' BTs I'm tempted to say you take a leaf out of his book in the way you do black. I guess I'm asking for more reality, even though SM are usually a beacon of cleanliness and structure - a bit of dulling of the armour wouldn't hurt this already immense job.

To sum up, kudos - but a bit more mess would be cool.

thanks for all the comments guys, more messy? my painting always seems to come out clean when i paint, i also like the grimy look that some black templars have. lets just say that mine are 'newer' than others:D
phew! think i got away with that one

can i ask, how many years ahve you been painting Razza? that way, i can estimate how long it will take me to get to half of that standard.

Wow fantastic work Razza, I like the conversion work and the paint job is excellent. I especially like the purple glass/marble effect on the power sword. The freehand on the cloak looks superb too.

thanks for all the feedback guys!
james, the freehand is done with a small battered trusty old brush and lots of practice, it take a lot of time but i'd say it was my strongest point of mini painting.
reflex, i've been painting for 16 years now, some people pick it up quicker than others but i had to teach myself everthing from scratch, i think nowadays with the net and more stores it's easier to get the standard up but you still need to sit down and spend the time :(
thanks again! Daz

Faultless Darren, really like the sword, inside of cloak and the tattoo. All up to your usual high standards.

I am guessing the "He has the Power" is a nod to He-Man?

Sublime as usual. The sword and tatoo are incredible.

Bootiful. The freehand, the NMM, the everything! The sheath lets this mini down, though, dangling between his legs like that. You could've also drilled out the hole. That said, I can go hang myself for not being able to paint like that. Ever. :p

how did you get the crisp colours

Oh.My.God-Emperor!
That is a brilliant model. I think what sets it off for me personally is the sword blade alongside the base - I really like the "understated" base, not too cluttered and it helps attract the eye towards the details on the model. The front of the model is far more striking than the back due to the freehand on the interior of the cloak.... and the red contrasts nicely with the black armour.

Time to snap my brushes and mourn the time lost pretending I could paint....Oh the shame!!!!!
