I know I personally got a little bit of nostalgia seeing this army on ebay. I wonder how this guy got it in the first place, or why Matt would have ever sold it. I remember it from a few battle reports. Any thoughts?

I think you are right. to be honest, the army doesn't even look *that* good any more.

and i usually wouldnt knock Matt Hutson; i loved his 3rd ed. Black Templars, they inspired me to do my own!

I must say I'm utterly disappointed; I saw 2 grand buy it now price and thought "wow these must be amazing, a real treat for the eyes!". Then I clicked on the pictures. The models are alrightly painted, but they're not anything even approaching special - I can think of loads of people that go to my local store/used to work there that can paint significantly better than this.
If that's pro painted, then it must mean I'm now a pro painter as well. I'd always considered myself to be slightly above average, but apparently not if this is anything to go by.

If anyone does actually pay $2,000 for this, then congratulations, you're a chump. Message me to inquire about purchasing some old rope I have for sale.

Thats the thing with ebay is everyone is looking for a deal or something utterly amazing. Its not a deal nor is it utterly amazing.

No offense to matts stuff I do like alot of his blending in that army but by no means should he start it off at $999 or buy no $1999.

It's tabletop quality; clean work but not for that kind of price. But hey, if someone is wiling to pay it, why not?

this came up on ebay last year when matt flogged it off. I guess what you are seeing is someone trying to cash an 'investment'

not for me

I suspect this army looks a LOT better in the flesh - those photos aren't very well lit or shot.

Still, anything starting at $999 is just taking the p*ss.

Yes the army looks alot better in the pics I have seen in WD. These pics are of such poor quality I almost thought it was a knock-off copy of Matt's original army. Yeah, the price is :wtf: ridiculous.

Is Matt still in the hobby?

Bah,is there even 1000 dollars worth of models in there?

On top of that, the daemon prince and some other units arent even painted by matt. Like someone pointed out already i think its just someone trying to cash in on their "investment"

Matts great skill by all accounts [or from how i remember it mentioned in White Dwarf] was how quickly he could paint up good looking complete armies while everyone else had just about managed a squad.

Its a nice army, but not worth $1000, let alone the buy it now price, someone is very seriously in dreamland lol

I think the actual cost of the items is about 500 or so USD (minus the fancy case)

its not too far off from some peoples comission prices in fact Id expect the comission price to be in the range of 250-500 so 1000 aint to bad
2k though thats a bit much

Sigh, but im sure someone will buy it. I mean sombody sold a french fry for like $100, why not an army for $2,000?
