View Full Version : What is the best possible Armor Save?

Im wondering if this Saurus Scar Veteran is legal, and if I have the Armor Save right. This is what I gave him:

Scar Veteran
*Adding the Armor saves as I go down the list.
-Scaly Skin (5+)
-Light Armor (4+)
-Enchanted Shield (2+)
-Spawning of Quetzl (1+)
-Spawning of Itzl, Rides a Cold One which adds two saves? (-1+)
*Cold One adds one for the mount, and another for its Scaly Skin.
-Aura of Quetzl, doesn't add to the armor save but gives a 4+ Ward Save against Strength 5+ hits.
170 points total
(40 points of Magic Items)

So he has a -1+ Armor Save. I know a roll of a one always fails, but I'll be fighting an army that will modify it (Skaven), which is why I added the Aura. Is there any other character build that has better saves?

PERFECTLY LEGAL.
and wonderful... as a Chaos player I can get to 0+, but I beieve only the lizzies have access to the -1+...

your opponent needs to have S7 just to move your save!

Vampire Counts are also able to have a -1+ save IIRC, DE can have it too but only against missile attacks.

Hows about Blood dragon, barded nightmare, full plate, enchanted shield.

erm. sure you can get a -1+ in chaos. not got my book in front of me but think it goes as this.
Khorne Lord on jugger with enchanted sheild
ChaosArmour 4+
Jugger also gives 4+ so that 1+
then enchanted shield 2+ taking it down to -1+. or have i gone wrong somewhere?

Jugger doesn't confer his armour to the Khorne Lord. Since he's a monsterous mount and monsterous mounts are targeted independently.

I believe a Dark Elf has the best possible armour save with -2+ against shooting.

An Imperial Character can get to -1+ to:

Dawn Armour (4+)
Enchanted Shield (2+)
Helm of the Skaven Slayer (1+)
Barded Warhorse (-1+)

70 magic points, but then you get -1+ with Re-roll!

You can then spend the 30 remaining on a White Cloak, giving him 5+ ward too... But he won't have much hitting power...

Na dont belive you can have both Enchanted shield and Helm of the skaven slayer, are they not both from the Magic armour section ?

Then they can only get 1+ with re-roll or 0+ normal save.

yeah but you can have enchated sheild with other magic armour. well u could in 6th dont know about 7th

Usually riding a barded steed is much more beneficial than the HW+shield bonus.
