View Full Version : Its Bloggering time...1700pts DiY Chapter

22-11-2006, 20:44
So here it goes……

My attempt to start and actually finish ‘’this time’’ with a army log,
On the first of January 2007 ‘’probably the 8th of January’’,
My gaming group will start a 40k campaign.
The basic idea behind the campaign is to get some army’s painted,
We will start with a 500pts army and work it up to 1500 pts

Period one 500pts
Period two 1000 pts
Period three 1500 pts
Every period will be played over 2 months; at the end of that Period the players should have painted 500 pts.

But because I want a tourney army I’m painting/building 1700pts worth of Beakies.
Here’s the army list.
It isn’t the best army list possible, but due to lack of money:cries: I made this list based on stuff I had laying around.

Command Squad
Master with Lightning Claws 105
Master of sanctity with plasma pistol 115
Epistolary with plasma pistol 130
SGT, with terminator honours, power fist, plasma pistol, teleport homer 60
Apothecary terminator honours and plasma pistol 60
Company Champion with terminator honours and plasma pistol 55
Company standard bearer with terminator honours and plasma pistol 60
1x Marine with lascannon 50
1x marine with plasma cannon 50
3x marine 45
12x infiltrate 36

Techpriest full servo harness, 100
2x combat servitor 50
1x Multimelta servitor 35
1x Plasma cannon servitor 45

5x assault terminator 2x thunder hammer 3x lightning claws 200
5x assault terminator 2x thunder hammer 3x lightning claws 200

5 x scouts 1x sniper 70
5 x scouts 1x sniper 70

Venerable Dreadnought with twin linked lascannon, missile launcher, extra armour, smoke launcher, search light 164
Total 1700

What I intend to paint for each period.
First period: 10 scouts, 5 Terminators, the librarian, Apothecary, lascannon marine, and a basic marine.
Second Period: 5 Terminators, Dreadnought, the Chaplain, Company champion, Plasma cannon Marine and a basic marine.
Third Period: Techmarine and retinue, Master, Company standard bearer, Veteran Sgt and a basic marine.

on to the pictures.
A basic marine I started building about an hour ago..
Right side
Left side

and some cheating I have done couldn’t wait for the second period.
very w.i.p still got a lot to do on the arms and ‘’groin’’ and some minor things to do on the legs.

Comments Criticism and suggestions welcome..

I really like that dread! What colourscheme are you going to paint them in? What chapter did you come up with?

22-11-2006, 21:02
I actually like the "groin" this way, shows a bit of the technics..

22-11-2006, 21:20
@ malika
falcon turquoise ''hawk turquoise'' and
skull white are the main colours.
black red and gold for the ''details''

chapter is called ''the'' Faith Bringers
succecor ''speling'' of the imperial fists
imperial fist icon is also used for this chapter

22-11-2006, 21:21
The legs of that dread definatly need some bulking up. I've always liked those dreads with sentinal legs. Look much more like walker IMO

Good luck with this project!

small update,

started with the green works today, i still find i very difficult to sculpt some decent looking joints,
i also started on the narthecium reductor for the apothecary.
and made some concept bases for my scouts.

the legs

the narthecium reductor

the bases

the idea behind the bases.....battle cruiser/space hulk walkway

C&C welcome

Looking good.
If you run out of doors you can use mesh on the bases to make them look like gantries.

So finally after a few weeks I got our camera back. ‘’my sister gave birth to her first born and she has no camera…though I’m really happy for her, it took like forever before I got the cam back.

So here are finally some new pictures.
Pictures of terminators they are al still very W.I.P ‘’some more then others’’

First up: Terminator with thunder hammer.

And another terminator with a thunder hammer

looking great!

17-01-2007, 16:31
Their looking good! Can't wait for more pics!

17-01-2007, 16:37
I really like the poses on the terminators, they look much better in a charging pose than just in a static normal pose.

Keep up the good work,

17-01-2007, 16:49
excellent work man, nice to see this didn;t die out!
can somebody please pick up my jaw?

i really like him, cooler than Sicarius, please stick some purity seals about! and err... may i use the idea in the not so distant future?!

keep up the good work, i'm looking forward to some painted pics :)

17-01-2007, 16:52
really liking the look of the terminators, you need to get the mould lines removed though, wouldn't want to spoil great conversions.

looking forward to seeing some paint on these guys once they're finished.

17-01-2007, 17:40
Very nice! The dread looks very "Battletech". Keep it up!

17-01-2007, 18:50
Wow, those are some of the most dynamically posed Terminators I've ever seen! Good job!

*mustn't say anthing about the bare heads...mustn't say anything about the bare heads...*

Pretend I didn't say that :o

17-01-2007, 19:01
The terminators are really dynamic without being OTT great work on them. I think you need to clean the mup a bit more and then add some fist symbols and seals then slap some paint on em. The dread looks good for a start but the legs.... It looks like chicken pattern dread atm so I hope you make the legs thicker and more armored. The rocker launcher looks really cool!

17-01-2007, 20:07
I like those Terminators - where did the metal head on the second one come from?

17-01-2007, 20:18
I like those Terminators - where did the metal head on the second one come from?

I believe it came with the baal predator

17-01-2007, 22:58
Very nice and dynamic posing. I love the way those T. Hammers look. Good job!

18-01-2007, 18:26
So a tiny tiny update.

i need your opinion on this Shield
the metal ''fist plate'' wil be replaced with one made out of greenstuff ''it bends '' metal doesnt:rolleyes: ''at least not as much as greenstuff.

glue and some minor peaces of skinn still need to be removed.

Hideous Loon
18-01-2007, 18:33
Looking good, Bra'tac. I love those kitbashed Thunder Hammers, good work.

By the way, are these Imperial or Crimson Fists?

18-01-2007, 18:50
By the way, are these Imperial or Crimson Fists?

Its a successor chapter of the imperial fist called Faith Bringers,
still writing fluff etc they are a combination of Black Templars, Mentor Legion, Inquisition and some others ''i stole al the good fluff and trew it in a blender.;)

18-01-2007, 20:34
Whoa! great job on the sculpted symbols there! I'd slap on some purity seals somewhere to give it a more asymmetrical look though.

The extended shield is a great idea, I'll steal it:D !

18-01-2007, 20:50
seconded the request for purity seals :)

good way btw

19-01-2007, 12:29
Looking forward to seeing these guys painted and seeing the fluff. I may have to swipe the thunderhammer idea when I get around to reworking my Sunhawks. ;)

Sorry Voronwe, you'll need to wait for his next blog, this one's finished:( .

Actually, Bra'tac, I'm pretty sure there's no need for sadness, I expect you to use your excellent Termies for your DW army log...?
