I am currently in the process of writing up a backstory for my current High Elf army, the Order of the Rose.

To get a hint as to what my army is going to look like, here goes the starter model I finished just a few hours ago.

It looks quite good! Original to see a High Elf with no white too. I would paint the horse in another colour, this one is to red, and since the High Elf is also red... Oh and one thing: why do you call it order of the rose? I don't see any roses on the model...

Quick update with how the dragon princes will look. Today at a small tourney I got so many compliments for how just these two models were done. Also several offers of commisioned painting, which I won't be going with until after I finish my high elves. ;)

It has been a while hasn't it! Well i've been really really lazy with my army but I have picked up a few new models which should give me something to do.

For instance the new Great Eagles! Which are absolutely FANTASTIC.

Also I redid the horse for my Commander. Before he was riding an unbarded horse and it was kind of bland looking. I just decided to have fun with it so here it goes.

Looking very nice there Jhayden, smooth and well painted; much better than mine :).

If you paint to this standard it doesn;lt matter about taking a long time; better to be good and slow than quicik and rubbish :)

- I really, really, really like the reds in your scheme. They just work so nicely, and have been blended so well.

Great models but what really stands out in terms of quality are the faces. Really, well blended with great eyes. Proper work of art.

I will say that the runes on the banner look a little spikey (Dark elven perhaps). The 2 main ones at least.

With the way im painting my Spearmen I can pop out 2 in 3 hours! That's without breaks and by doing each one individually. At this rate i'll have my whole regiment finished by next wednesday! (which by the way is a first for me. I have never really fully finished a full unit of models ever!)

Nice to see some infantry here as well as the cavalry. Great colours on them painted very well. Good freehand work on the banner as well.
It's interesting how those spearmen models looks so muich worse without their shields :)

Keep up the good work :)

The paint scheme is looking great. Very different from how most high elves are painted, and in a good way. I think it would look great on the battlefield faced off against some dirty, evil critters (Skaven perhaps?). The contrast would look very nice :)

I really like your color scheme. In fact, I'm using something simillar in my DE Army (i.e. Red Gore and Burnished Gold) However, I found it difficult to highlight my cloth areas since it always looks too pink for me. I see the same shades in your army and the "pink" really doesn't look too bad. I thnk I'll finish a regiment first and then assess whether the "pink" still jumps right at me or does a good job highlighting the red areas.

I can't wait for the rest of your models! Post the rest soon! :)

Post some pics of your current models, I would love to see how other people interpret the Rose scheme.

As for the pics. Well, I accidently left my army at the local hobby shop so I havn't been able to get any work done. Saturday i'll start working on them again and after I finish the first regiment i'll post the pics! (Im a very slow painter)

Small update!

Well I havnt been painting as much as I would like. Been busy with midterms but now that im on spring break I should be able to get back on track!

Here goes my test model for my Dragon Princes. The Horse is fine and dandy and I wanted the actual rider to stand out. That's why his armor is so much brighter than the horse's barding.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/mrpockets/100_2030.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/mrpockets/100_2029.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v496/mrpockets/100_2027.jpg

Now for this model (as well as a bunch of others...) I used GWs new black primer. I am not really a huge fan of it at all, it doesn't stick to the model, it very easily scratches off even after 2 coats and I can't glue anything to anything! Oh how I miss the old primer...it was fantastic. But the results speak for themselves. Im rather proud of the armor and the face came out better than any other skin I have painted. My only gripe is that he looks rather Dark Elfish in terms of having a very bad attitude but he rocks socks nonetheless.

Very nice work Jhayden; the gold on the barding is excellent as is the painting on the face. The blue is a nice contrast to the pink and yellow and works nicely IMO, although I'm gald you didn;t go overboard with it.

Looking very nice, I can;t wait for more :D

Little thing about the silver helm, most looks excellent but the silver metal looks like a basecoat in the pics =/

Maybe use a wash or highlights? (could just be me though)

I love the red paint scheme. It is refreshing to see a non blue high elf army. Your painting is very smooth.

I actually thought it might be another "all female" elf army ... o_O

That said, fantastic work, and if that's what your models look like with a horrible camera I'm almost scared to see what a good camera does for them! The infantry champion's face is particularly fantastic (and particularly feminine IMHO).
