I was thinking of converting a Vampire counts Army of Undead Wood Elves (Except Vampires of course) i was thinking:

Glade Guard = Zombies/Ghouls

Skeletons would just be skeletons with Spears and such

Eternal Guard = Black Guard

Wild Riders/Glade Riders = Black Knights

Spellsinger = Banshee

It would be a heavy convterted Army with almost every single model been converted save the Vampires and Spellsinger Banshee (just painted 'ghostly' colours)

Any opinions on other models and what not i could use?

It would totally work. It can represent the army raised during the Battle of the Cairns.

Would Tomb kings not work better?

They have missile troops and could have
treekin as ushabti
treemen as bone giants
glade guard as archers
eternal guard as tomb guard
glade riders as light cavalry
wild riders as heavy cavalry
warhawk riders as carrion
you could even bring back the classic wood elf chariots

Those are both really good ideas.
You could convert Orion into a Blood Dragon.

I'd think it'd be better as a tomb kings based army.

After all, ask yourself if you'd be creating "new" undead wood elves.

i've once seen an army like that. can't remember where, but if i find it, i can give the source.
it looked extremely cool, with loads of conversions, that's what i can say!
and it was based on vampire counts, if i remember well...

both ideas are cool, though tomb kings has more potential, go with what you like the best, eitherway, very good idea, original, only ever seen generic undead or bretonnian undead, not welves.
