Read it and ejaculate vigorously. This is all that can be said.

I read the artcile in PC gamer today and all I can say is bouncy bouncy. You can build a flying aircraft carrier how cool is that?

Huh...my pants shouldn't stretch like that.

I think Chris Taylor (the designer of the game, and Total Annihilation, for those that don't know) is just the right kind of crazy. He just seems to have a big sense of fun.

I especially liked the comment "Who says Supreme Commanders and short range tactical nukes shouldn't mix?" :)

Well..they certainly set the bar high for themselves. I'm a little sceptic since there are numerous things that can go wrong..for a game this complex the interface has to be perfect. The balancing of the units is another great factor because whi wants to only play 3 or 4 units because the other 20 are just not worth it most of the time..

It remains to be seen but if they can pull it off we're up for a hell of a game. I'm a little bit excited right now. Let's see

I think they'll manage it.

I like the fact that they say you can set all your factories to automatic to produce more meat for the grinder continually. This suggests massive carnage. I love it.

There are a few things I notice though. Some of the shots have units, particularly the naval ones, engaging at absurdly short ranges. I hope it's easily moddable. I hope there are bigger air transports.

The scale of this game looks HUGE.

Definately one to look out for.

Also, I notice people talking about ejaculation in this thread, so we can talk about ejaculation yet if we say the word 'butt' we get banned for a day...okay then. Make sure you put in the FAQ!

It's possible it could be 3D with a fixed camera, like Total Annihilation. Also, some of those units are possible placeholders, or unfinished. The game's still a long way off.

Total Annihilation also looked a little bit different in the early videos.

TA has swallowed so many hours of my life...such a good game.

Hopefully you will be able to form up tanks and robots into battlegroups in order to move them on the strategy map.

Also I love that battleships will now be to scale.

Does anyone know what kind of computer requirements this game is going to have?

11-07-2005, 16:21
I imagine it will be pretty RAM intensive with those giant maps.

Did you see the screenshots of those nukes? I need to lie down!!!!

12-07-2005, 07:48
wow. the game look awsome. Very similar to Red Alert 2.

When is it due for release

12-07-2005, 07:56
Very similar to Red Alert 2.

Red Alert is not a patch on TA. As it's the same guy making it, and he's admitted that it's TA's 'spiritual successor' I'm hoping for something much greater than the C&C franchise.

12-07-2005, 08:23
the C&C francise is practically no existant. Ever since EA brought it from Westwood it has slowly gone down hill. Generals was reasonable be nothing like RA2.

Will we ever see a new RA, possibly using the Generals game engine with huge amounts of troops

If not this will have to do

12-07-2005, 12:55
Red alert has nothing on TA, Supreme Commander (TA2 by any other name) will probaly set the bar for RTS games again.

12-07-2005, 13:19
I hope so TC27. Hell TA still looks and plays better then most RTS's today!

12-07-2005, 13:49
Hmm, looks very good. TA was the first computer game I bought, and it remains one of the best, even though I lost the cd several years ago.:p I just hope they balance it properly and make all the units viable.

12-07-2005, 13:49
The original TA. With 64MB+ maps... and me stuck with a crappy 16MB (later 24MB) ram machine when releaased.

Man, that played slow at the time :(, but it's great now on my 768MB monster :D

12-07-2005, 14:06
I hope there will still be pee wee in it :D

12-07-2005, 14:58
Wow. . . really wow. I read some of the Gamespy articles, and it looks AMAZING!
