Hi.

While listening to "Global Fussball OK" with "Tyskarna Från Lund" (I think it should have been the official WM song), I spontaneously wanted to start playing BloodBowl.

I wonder if BloodBowl is any fun?

I was thinking, because of lack of bb players, starting multiple teams, and letting people play with them, is it a good idea?

And how big teams do people play? (How many kgc?)

The maximum size team you can have is 16 players. I have no idea what KGC is I'm afraid.

Big BB fan especially now I can play it online at fumbbl. If you have multiple teams then I'd let people start their own as that'll inspire them to play more.

Standard starting money is 1M GC. Bloodbowl is well worth the effort, and most teams can be made on the cheap from WFB plastics.

Bloodbowl is the game that my friends and I would play most often (out of BB, WHF, and WH40K) back in the day. While our focus is currently on the bigger brothers of the hobby, I still like having a couple teams around just in case one of my friends gets a wild hair and wants to take the fight to the pitch.

The game itself is relatively quick, loads of fun, and CHEAP! 16 models is all your looking at buying per team... well, 19 if you add a head coach and a couple cheerleaders. But that is NOTHING compared to the loads upon loads of figures you have to purchase in order to play the other games. Even if you didn't end up liking the game, you won't have spent a lot of money on it, so who cares?

I say give it a shot!

Blood Bowl is very funny. And with only 16 players on your team, it’s also cheap.

However, be aware that the teams are not balanced. Some teams are much better than others – especially in a tournament setting.

Must one have an understanding of gridiron to be able to play it?
(and enjoy it? :P)

I don't even know what the term "gridiron" refers to, and I love Blood Bowl. So no, you don't need to understand that :)

I apologize to BB fans.

BB is the worst idea GW has ever had and that includes LOTR. I absolutly hate football and playing it with elves makes it no better. Imo it is a stupid game and an awfull premise, it is the only bad specialist game and the only one that deserves the amount of support (or lack there of) that GW gives it.

Radical Inquisitor: you don't like football, so you don't like Blood Bowl? Even though the games are wildly different (seeing as football has a round ball, no armour, goal-posts, an off-side rule...)? Seems a bit contrary.

Did you mean American football? Anyway - I'm not a fan of either sport, and I like Blood Bowl fine. Less running, more dice rolling, and fatalities aren't just legal, they're mandatory!

So I have to ask... what is it *about the game itself* that you don't like?

I haven't played it much, but I think it's loads of fun.

Haven’t played it in years, but that’s not due to me finding it dull. I thought it was great fun back when I did play it.

Sorry, but gridiron is a american football term meaning the pitch, but to get a better understanding of blood bowl think Rugby!

It was only first edition blood bowl that was based off of american football not the current living rulebooks or even 3rd edition.

I say this as a American myself!- Damn Americans and their version of football!:cheese:

BB can be great fun if not taken too seriously :D

It's a great game for when you fancy a game of something but don't want to be setting up terrian and getting out 2000 points worth of stuff! Also because your team devolps with each match you can really find yourself getting attached to your players, especially those that do something incredible! Poor Sniksnak my lil gobbo *sniff* top scorer for my gobbo team until the unfortunate 'landing on his head while being thrown' incident

Blood bowl was one of those games I always shook my head at when I saw it being played instead of one of the bigger GW games. However, after playing a couple games and getting the hang of it I found it was lots of fun. I would actually rather play BB over 40k and fantasy most of the time. You should try out FUMBBL for online bloodbowl, it's free afterall.

Bloodbowl is an excellent game that I enjoy immensely. I'm going to run our new club season next year and I'm currently painting up my new team (The Deathdealers) in preparation, I'm not expecting to win but I'm going to have good time.

Highly recomended.

Bloodbowl is loads of fun and really easy to collect and play.

You hardly need any figures and can proxy most of them with a bit of conversion (i've got some skellies wrapped in strips of paper that i use as Mummies).

It's also pretty quick to play and there are hardly any rules to learn compared to GW's other games.

I still see Bloodbowl as GW's 3rd game, even though I enjoy LOTR.

Look into joining FUMBBL, it's free and you can try out teams withouthaving to get any figures at all, though watch out if you play in [R]anked as there are a lot of sharks out there who don't seem to realise the game is played for fun.

Ya know I might try to dig out Bloodbowl and see if the girlfriend might give it a try. I got her playing Space Hulk so it might work :chrome:

I'm surprised that Yorkie hasn't pimped the Warseer FUMBBL league yet (Sub-forum above you!)

Yeah, there's almost literally no connection between Blood Bowl and even American football. You can dislike the latter and love the former - you could dislike all sports and still enjoy Blood Bowl. You really ought to play the game before making snap judgements.

Then FUMBBL sounds perfect for you. No models needed, and a ready supply of opponents.

Blood bowl is the 3rd best game GW has ever made! Just behind space hulk and 4th ed 40k (and thats mainly because i think the back ground is the best sfi-fi back ground ever). You can play a game in about 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours, there are rules on cheating & it's very quick to learn with for me makes for an extremly fun game.

Heresy Blood Bowl is far beeter than Mordhiem (a poor mans Necromunda) & Epic (with just doesn't seem as tactical as Warmaster).

splutters to self, appart from the guy who owned up to not liking BB cos he doesn't like american football (fnuff) presumably the other 5 people whho've voted BB as boring are stooges of GW working to try and suppress what little support bloodbowl gets, perhaps the same people who give each WD 10/10...

Fummbl was ok for a while, but there are too many there that take the game and themselves too seriously and dont know how to play just for fun. Then again, it is populated by far too many trolls for my liking (one of which actually threatened to take my life when I stated that I did not like to foul without proper cause). I got tired of it and closed my account there down as it was no longer worth the effort. Now, the client that they use is open for anyone to use so anyone who has the webspace can set up thier own similer site. With Warseer being as populer as it is and the number of gamers who come here, starting a true Warseer blood bowl game might be an option to explore.

Team management is great fun.

I developed a human blitzer, who was nigh-untouchable. He had AG4, +1 movement, block, dodge and stand firm. He really, really dominated and was able to win a game on his own, but then my opponent assasinated him due to TR difference and I practically gave up the game.

BB is a cool game. The made up a whole heap of static grass boards at one of the local gaming clubs with grandstands, score boards and everything. The old foam board is cool though.

I remember a dungeon bowl expansion back in the day but I never tried that.

I play DB regularly. Great game. One addition me and my mates make is to award 1 SPP per knockout. As the game ends after one goal it kind of limits how fast your team develops.

Give DB a go.

Is BB fun? Yes. Very. Anyone who doesnt like it doesnt know how to enjoy their gaming.

Personally, I think BB is the best game that GW has ever made, and I have spent more time playing it than any of GW's other games. The absurdity and exquisite cruely of Bloodbowl ensure that its never dull. But to get the best out of it you have to play in a league, where each match and each result counts towards something.

As much as I hate to do a 'me too' post...

Blood Bowl is one of the best games GW ever made. It's the only GW game that I still play regularly.

I loved BB, Only problem was I never had the game, and could never find people with the game to play with. Last game I played was about 2 years ago, might have to try this online thingo.

Kafka - had a similar problem, but the online thing has even sparked my interest enough to try and set up a RL tournament again.

My local league is about to enter it's third season, with about 24 regular players. You'd be surprised how many blood bowl players are actually out there, it's a great game.

There is nothing better then a game of BB, some beer, and rolling for a causalty after making your armor roll.

Best game ever. I was on the verge of dropping wargaming altogether, then I re-discovered Bloodbowl. It brought the enjoyment back for me, and let me get back into the right frame of mind to play other games (SG ones mainly, plus Quest and Gorka).

If you don't get it, yo don't get it, but imo, the day GW finally drop BB completely is the day I never buy a GW product again.

I just got into BB and its a Blast. Right now my Amazon Nun team is in third place after 2 games. It rocks. But be sure to check Places like Shadowforge if you dont like the GW models. Thats what I did

Can't vote yet (too junior-ha,I'm 41) but I love rugby,NFL,Aussie rules & Gaelic fb but I even if I didn't I'd still love BB.Still the only game I play on a regular basis. The only thing to remember is,like all GW games,is to try to play in character to the race of your team(my mates HE will only ever foul Chaos)
rather than just to win at all costs. If you have coaches who foul all the time
make the foul 'spotted' on a double & on a natural seven.Tends to calm down
the nutters when half his team's been sent off, especially in tournaments.

I would put BB in as my fave GW game, next to Necromunda and WFB.

It gets more fun the more beer you drink, it has become a tradition on new years to get in from a club at about 4 in the morning and play a game of drunken BB to see in the new year.

I like it to be my first act of geekdom for any year.

BB is a truly great game.

The BB Warhammer World is a satire of the 'real' (for want of a better term) Warhammer world, where the inhabitants play Nuffles Sacred Game (Blood Bowl) instead of going to war.

And thats the background...

As a game, its strength is that its a quick and simple game to master, striking a perfect balance between boardgame and wargame.

Everyone should set aside their serious Warhammer heads once in a while and play it, because, if nothing else, its fun.

Its also becoming increasingly popular as a tournament game these days, which is even better.

Personally I can't stand American Football (calling it American Rugby would be far more accurate) but I love BB, and have done for 12 years, since 3rd ed came out.

As long as both players are playing for fun (and it is very difficult to do otherwise) it is a brilliant game.

I like Bloodbowl so much that I used the rules as the basis for a dungeon-crawling game and a future-fantasy game, both of which port the high model:fun ratio of Bloodbowl into games with existing WFB and W40k models.

Fummbl sounds like the perfect place for you. Just try not to upset the admins.

I was in the top 10 coaches with username Jezlad before they banned me for using "rude" team and player names.

It's bloodbowl right? I thought silly names were part of it.
