Vote and explain the best and the most compatiable combo you use! Thanks!

[[[ I have long used and loved the Fireknife configuration, it is a general purpose , high utility set up, Plasma Rifle+Missile Pod+Multitracker...It can kill Marines at distance or at 12" kill 'em a LOT! Missile pod can add wounds to them, or take out up to AV13 at range! it allows a measure of safe engagement for my crisis teams and has never let me down.

I haven't played Tau with the new toys yet, but in the old days the "best" combo for me was the Missile Pod/Plasma rifle. Reasons as above.

Hmm...This poll is sorted - It's going to have a few Burstcannons, perhaps some Flamers, a few more Fusion Blasters, a fair amount of CIB, and then Plasma Rifles and Missile Pods all the way!

PR+MP for Normal suits,
CIB+MP for my Shas'o.

The best mainstay for the crisis suit in my opinion is the plasma rifle/missile pod with a multitracker so you can use both. It has the fexibility to deal with most armies and has a good range.

the next best option would be to drop either the missile pod for a fusion blaster (anti-tank) or the plasma rifle for a burst cannon (anti-nonMEQ)

Yeah, I'm also a huge fan of the Fireknife combo (plasma+missile pod). I've been trying something else with my other squad of 3 crisis, twin-linked missile pods and a flamer. Its very cheap and it can take out light armor, or instant kill squishes. As an added benefit, for only 4 pts per suit, 3 flamers will decimate almost any squad.

Of course the FK is the best, but I personally enjoy the Helios FB/PR due to short range 'sniping' someone's character/h2h badass with the FB or possibly the PR's double tapping 12" range.

[[[ I have used Helios to devastating effect as well! it is my second choice, and I will usually make a Shas' El a Helios to work that magic on eney heavy tanks or heroes.

Plasma and missle pod is a very effective choice against ANY army, except swarms.

Depends on what your looking for.
In general, I find the missile pods to be very useful because of it's strength and range and deathrain suits are reputed to be very good.

The default suit is fireknife. It has good range and kills marines dead.

Firestorm is also a good suit. I think it was shown to have about the same killing power against marines as fireknife on ATT. Also, with it's higher volume of fire it would likely fair better against horde armies. Cheaper suit too.

I prefer Death-Rains myself, though Fire Knives are incredibly useful as well.

Deathrains.

Fireknives are for the imagination- and skill-impaired.

Plasma and Fusion combos for me. Missiles are for Broadsides ;)

Currently, I run a 3 suit squad with twin missile pods and target locks for the hilarious ability to knock out three enemy transports at once with a single sub-150pt unit, and a 2 suit squad with twin plasmas and shield gens for doing unpleasantness to heavy infantry.

For horde work, the dirt-cheap twin flamer option looks good as well for a future expansion (when I build up the energy to start converting more suits).

Fire Knife. Plasma FTW, and Missle Pod for Light Tanks. Really, is there a better combo on a regular Crisis Suit? you can kill some 3+ Save guys, and you can pop all the Rhino variants. It doesn't get much better then that!

death rain have gone up in my opinion due to the targeting array,

the ability to have lone suits that are armed with a twinlinked, assult, Bs4 auto cannon, is not to be over looked, they also out preforms fire knives in almost everything but killing terminators...

FireKnives. People may say it is unimaginative, but by now the codex has been out so long all possible configurations that are even slightly good have already been thought up and posted on the internet. So nothing really takes too much imagination.

I like the flexibility of most Tau units, and for that reason i'm not a huge fan of the really specialised suit patterns, thats more of an Eldar thing. Hence Fireknives.

Deathrains.

OK. I know what Firekife is -- Plasma Rifle + Missile Pod + Multitracker.

But what is a Deathrain?

Edit: Found it!
Twin-linked Missile Pod + Drone Controller + 2 Gun Drones (White Dwarf 263us).

Three Shas'ui all with twin-linked missile-pod, drone controller and 2 gun drones (White Dwarf 263us).

Yup, Deathrains have twin missile pods, plus whatever else you want to tack on to the third hardpoint. I'm partial to flamers myself.

Firestorms (missile + burst) are pretty awesome too.

Twin Link Missile Pod and Targeting Array. Pure gold man pure gold.

sometimes i go for the fireknife, but it gets dull sometimes, so sometimes i take a twin-flamer+burst cannon deepstrike-suicide monat. or a burstcannon-cyclic ion blaster combo, or missile pod-fusionblaster for anti-tank.

Fusion blaster and Missile pod.
Stay at a safe distace and let the missiles rain down on the problem, or get in close and blatst the problem away, no matter size.
Simply nice ^^

Im partial to missile pods myself. I want to know why PR+MP is somehow less imaginative than just two missile pods.

I'm currenly outfitting my Shas'el w/ AFB and TL BC but i'm thinking of changing the TL BC to TL Missle Pods for only a few points more. I was designing him for horde armies but I'm thinking i'll like the range of the missle pod.

While the PR+MP is a effective setup, I'm trying something different and going for a more urban look and feel.

I usually go for the FireKnife pattern, its a good reliable and multi task combo, but i do switch from time to time to Plasma and Fusion Blasters just in case its needed
