Hi and welcome to my next project log after just finishing my Urban Nids its time to crack on with my project for next years GT.

For the GT i'm going to be doing Tau, i had intended to be doing Necrons but as santa bought me 2 Tau mega Forces i guess it will have to be tau hence why i'm doing 3000pts worth in one go, from this i'll be able to play around and come up with a competative GT list i'm sure.

So the plan is to produces 3000pts worth of tau but as this army is intended for the Gt i have ages to model and paint so no rushing, i'm going to make sure that no short cuts are taken, ill be painting better than i have before and for the 1st time i'll be using magnets on everyting.

so with ive been putting togeather my first war fish and Skimmer.

ill be painting as much detail as possible on these models so ill be painting them in bits then putting them togeather last.

Seekers with magnets on them so they can be removed when fired

In bits ready to have the inside painted

yay... magnets.. .

*is far too interested in the magnets... *

ive built a suad of gun drones and the first squad of stealths as well, ill be posting the 3000pts list in the next few days to give you guys something to chew on

Yeah i just noticed the engines lol must pay more attention

Good to see youve started these already - which heat are you intending on entering? I know what you mean about not wanting to rush it and make it the best you can. What colour are you thinking of doing them? And where did you get those magnets because I want some tiny ones for my drop pods.

Devilfish engines are round the wrong way incase you didn't notice.

It is probably landing. I like the way the tau Orca dropper's engines swivelled about as it went in for landing in the game Fire Warrior.

I like the way the Pirahna looks with seeker missiles slung under it's stability wings.

Just in regards to the effectiveness of your army- I would go for fusion blasters on your piranha. You've got enough S5 AP5 elsewhere. See assorted Piranha tactica on Tau online or Advanced Tau Tactica for details. If you want to make them interchangeable, it's really easy- I used bluetack for my piranha, and you can't even tell. Just blutack the circular turret bit below the chassis that holds the weapon, and when you need to, you can pull it off and replace the weapon, which sits easily in the frame. Never had any problems with it.

Slightly OT, but why 3k pts.? I thought GT's were like 1500?

I think its so he can have some variety in his list - and he got 2 megaforces for xmas. Plus at our club (warhammer world) we tend to play games of 2000pts +. In fact, myself and mattrs are teaming up with our Tyranid armies to take on a IG and space marine alligence in a 5000pt game. Between us we have 3 Trygons, a Barbed Hierodule, 60 Genestealers, and no end of Carnifexs.

yeah your right GT is 1500pts but as Stormtropper said i tend to play 2000pts + games at our club so the list is built around a core 1500pts with a bits added so that i can change the list around and try new things each week i just hate using the same list all the time tend to get board with it lol.

This army will prob end up being around 4000pts by the time i'm done with it.

Rogue 7 - yeah i know what you mean about FB on the Piranha it dosnt show it on the pics but the busrt cannon is held on by magnets so i can pull it off and swap it for a FB it needed. All weapons on the tanks and skimmers , battlesuits are held on with magnets that way i can change the weapon Configs at will.

Will have some more pics today i think show you guys mny new shiney toy

Shiny new toy eh?

12-01-2007, 00:12
ok a few more pics this is taking a lot longer than i had thought due to the Devil fish kits being almost as crap to put togeather as the SM land speeder and thats a bad kit. Anyways a few a pics showing were ive had to fill gaps in, ive tried to blend the joins so that when its painted they will be invisable so as to give a smooth look with no join lines. the only problem is it takes ages to sand the putty flat and smooth but oh well.

Still have a few gaps here and there to fill but its 90% done C&C welcome

Well, in planning mine (since they originally came out  ) I've been looking into the major mecha manga/anime: Evangelion, Gundam, Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Dominion Tank Police... it's a good place to start for some painting inspiration.
