What's your favourite Mordheim Warband?

Mine is the Carnival of Chaos :skull:

Tough choice! I'm ploaying Norse just now but usually play Marienburgers. The Norse are quite tough to play because they have very little ranged ability and aren't any tougher than normal guys. Great in H2H though!

Sisters of Sigmar here.

Have to say I enjoyed Kislev in my last campaign; all round humans with a bear!!!!(great for breakthrough scenarios with M6) The fact that my 4 axe & shield & bow henchmen got +1 WS and +1BS as their first advances was a big advantage too. And the BS 4 Streltsi hero was pretty cool too.

Dwarf Treasure Hunters are fun but my favorite band right now are my Reiklanders... Can't beat BS4 marksmen with crossbows (BS5 after a quick upgrade)

My favourite warband are the Sisters of Sigma.

Dark Elf... repeater x-bows, sea dragon cloacks and heavy armour. high Initiative is a guarantee to get up save on rooftops where others can't go. And then it's a matter of time before all enemys are shoot.

Reikland, or Marienburg, either one of them, its a difficult choice

I love my Witchunters, even if they are the unluckiest Warband in Mordheim...

I love mordheim. So, it's a tough call.

I'm A big elven fan, so Shadow Warriors rank way up top for me.

Second is kinda a 3 way tie: Reikies, Sisters, Skaven.

They're all a lot of fun.

Orkies are quite entertaining, too!

Mwehhh... I always say choose the warband that has the most appeal to you, and most definitly not the one with the best stats... That's so lame! You play a game for fun, not for winning... But that's just me... Me? I chose to build a Possessed warband themed around Nurgle... I might build a Clan Pestilens warband next... No I have nothing with plagues... I just like the models >_<

I always loved my Albrecht's Eviscerators warband... Marienburgers, through and through!

The prospect of fielding a starting party with 600 gc was way to hard to pass up. As were the swanky threads they wore. Who else could pull off red stripes, yellow spots and a blue leather trenchcoat?

They lasted about 15 games, then got rediculously overpowered (what? leader with a broken leg? HELLO BARDED WARHORSE!) after winning about 80% of its battles.

I moved to High Elves (a list I found on Army Builder - don't know if it was official or not) for about 8 games, then the music died.

Oh, getting off track. My favourite warband is Marienburgers, for the record.

the HE list is lustrian, and is mostly broken, honestly.

Either Witch hunters or Reiklanders. Both gave me a great, great time. (Funny, as I am a Vampire Counts player)

BS5 Marksmen FTW!

Well they start out at BS4 but yeah that one upgrade and you are set :)
Then just add bodies to that group :)

Marienburgers. +100 staring gold, and +1 to find cool loots. Makes things much quicker when going for the end-game powerhouse.

Personally I really like the "Assassin squad". It's and experimental warband but all the same it's fun to play. Unlike normal skaven warbands it's max is 12 models but they're a more specialist oriented warband. I have made some changes though. I increases the cost of the henchmen by 5gc and made the skill ultimate speciallist only take affect on the charge. Look it over and tell me what you think.

Dark Elves are the ones I'm most comfortable with. Sisters of Sigmar are a close second, and were my first warband way long ago.

I've recently started Tinkering with the Clan Skryre experimental warband... It's tricky because all the funky toys are so expensive.

Oh, yeah! And that fantastic priest! He can summon squirrels armed with laser-guided sniper-acorns (the acorns do 2d6 S1 hits that ignore armour saves!)

My top three would be Undead, Carnival of Chaos and Averlanders.

Mortogul
24-02-2007, 20:40
My love belongs,
to the Undead they make a great Warband lots of Guys who ignore Stunned
and cause fear. The cheap Zombies which can come back to Combat by the Necromancer and the Vampire which is one of the most brutal Beasts that can roam the Streets of Mordheim when he had got the right Lvl-Up Dices.

On second the Pirates they make an funny Warband which is able to bring an massive amount of long and short range Firepower to the Battlefield.

Mine are Witch Hunters, Orcs, and Averlanders. Witch Hunters are rewarding to play because they're slow to get started, but can be a handful once you have them up to snuff.

Orcs are kind of an acquired taste because they're completely chaotic and are almost guaranteed to do something bad at the worst time. They're fun to play if you have a sense of humor, but can be maddening if you don't.

Averlanders are an excellent warband that flies under the radar of a lot of players. They have shooty heroes, great all-around henchman in Mountainguard, cheap shooty BS4 henchmen in halflings, and all the flexibility of most other merc lists. They're very underrated.

everyone knows pirates rock

blackpowder is the end all weapon type in the game. period.

plus, im a master at using the pieces in the empire militia box set and a bit of green stuff to make some awesome pirates. have an entire red foam tray full of them...even a kickass swivel gun model.

Pirates are nice and all, but blackpowder is hardly the end-all of weapons. Especially when your campaign uses the blackpowder misfire rules. Being able to give every single member a blackpowder weapon is nice, but with that many weapons, you're certain to lose some, and watching your men take themselves out of action with exploding pistols is never fun. Plus, the Kidnapped special rule hardly ever comes into play. Still, having a Gunner roll up Lad's Got Talent is AWESOME. A cannon that can ignore cover, fire every turn, and get multiple experience points for hitting clouds of zombies with grapeshot? Yes, please!

Hands down I have to go with Skaven on this one. Cheap, Fast, High Initiative and to top it off, Warplock Pistols and Weeping Blades...:skull:

My favourite warband in a campaign is my Dwarf Treasure Hunters. Last campaign, I has a Hero with BS6, Trick Shot, and Eagle Eye, using a Crossbow. Also, my Lord had Gromril Armour with a Pavise (2+ Armour, heh.).

I would like to make a Hillbilly, er...Ostlander Warband, just for the humour aspect.

Despite there being a number of more exciting warbands out there, I can't go past the Reiklanders. They were my first warband and one that I thoroughly enjoyed upgrading through various conversions - my entire warband is plastic bar the hired Ogre and a hero armed with a Hochland long rifle (which I can make out of plastic anyway :P).

Hmm... tough call. I have had a lot of fun with Various bands over the years, from my 5 man possessed band (yay for a Vampire tripping and impaling himself on my spiked midget mutant :D) My Skaven and their legendary Ninja Monkey allies (giant rats are for pussies :p). Still need to go back and re-model the actual Skaven in that band, and bulk out the 'Ninja Monkey' numbers. I still have plans for my red-neck ostlander band, though I want to improve my sculpting skills before I can do that justice.

I've had a lot of humour out of my ands, but even my more serious ones (second story ninja elves ftw) have had a lot of good times.

Soo many bands, so hard to choose... and I haven't even mentioned Pirates or Carnival of chaos. But I think purely on the legend of the Ninja monkeys, the Skaven win.

The undead.
Their really fun to play and the vampire is one of the most brutal and fast heros in the game. If you get sprint it moves faster than a horse.
Pretty spry for a dead guy :D .

Pirates are my favorite. I think they are the most unique human warband but then it would have to be Dwarfs because they are rich (name of the game).

My Pirate warband has a Slayer Pirate, a reg. Slayer, and a Dwarf Fortune Seeker (or treasure hunter or whatever he is called i.e. Miner) which gives me the best of the two warbands I like the most... Pirates and Dwarfs.

I enjoy Witch Hunters the most. Their fluff is just great and if you lose badly, you can just blame the over-zealousness of your leader.

Sisters of Sigmar. The GW mini's are ugly... but battle nuns are hawt.
Although I can never use them in "official" matches, I prefer the Reaper Miniatures for battle nuns. The hawtness. :D

As no-one's mentioned them yet and they were my first warband, I'm choosing the Amazons.

They are fairly squishy (no armour except helmets & bucklers) but with slings and clubs, they can get a lot of attacks quite cheaply. The special toys are probably underpriced (Claw of the Old Ones gives +1 Str and no saves allowed for 30gc, Sunstaff is a 24" S4 missile weapon that has no -1 for long range and allows no saves either for 50GC).

But all of that aside, I really like the concept and the models. Girls in bikinis for the win!

You're right, Getz! Witch-Hunters ARE the unluckiest warband in Mordheim. I love playing them, but my captain always gets killed, somebody else suffers from stupidity but ends up being the replacement captain, and it goes on. it doesn't matter how many lucky charms I give them, they are still jinxed!

Pit Fighters for me. I've collected a lot of warbands over the years, but I love the idea of Gladiators stomping through the streets. They've yet to dissapoint me in battle. Also, I love the models and it was a poor excuse for me to buy an Ogre Hunter and throw him in the lot as an Ogre Pit Fighter.
My Amazons are a close second.

Amazons, without saying. I don't really get the religious bent GW likes to mold their armies too, or I would say Sisters of Sigmar. My first band was Reiklanders, and they were a lot of fun

the Undead

they need revision [ie - more skeletons less wolves] but i love Vampires :)

[i also like clan eshin - and i had succesfuly lead this warband in various scenarios]

Without ever having played Mordheim: Dwarfs. The miniatures are just great, I like Dwarfs, so that settles it for me.
