Greetings, I hope you are all well of this windy January day.

The February/March release window is upon us and two of this issue’s Fanatic Online articles reflect this. The Araby List is obviously the rules, background and army list for the new Warmaster Araby range of which you can advance order (http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=List_Models&code=301545&orignav=300808). Rick Priestley and Lex Van Rooy have been working on this list for sometime and it is now ready for public consumption. Read it now (http://www.specialist-games.com/assets/FO87Araby.pdf).

The next article is a discursive one by Jervis on how you can play as the forces of Chaos in your games of Epic. Read it now (http://www.specialist-games.com/assets/FO87EpicChaosJerv.pdf). The reason for this article is because we are releasing the Epic Chaos Horde kit through GW direct within the next few weeks. (Check with your local GW Direct for exact dates). The Chaos kit contains 2 of the Epic Infantry sprues that were originally released for Epic 40,000. I’ll have pictures on the website of this kit first thing next week.

Finally for this month Robert Elliot gives Blood Bowl Human coaches a stern lecture in tactics and the use of players. Read it now (http://www.specialist-games.com/assets/FO87BBHumans.pdf).

I was planning to write a long-winded diatribe on how our games fit into Games Workshop’s gaming universes to accompany this issue, unfortunately, I’ve been stuck in numerous dull meetings all week so I’m having to delay my editorial until early next week. Along with a full-length editorial, expect to see some major site updates early next week. Also, do not forget the extended deadline for the Warmaster campaign competition is this Monday (22nd of January).

Win! Win! Win!
Talking of competitions I have just got time to announce a fast and furious competition for you to win over £140 of Black Library Novels! Including 4 omnibus books (Gotrek and Felix 2; Space Wolf; Soul Drinkers; Gaunt’s Ghosts – The Founding) as well as over 15 novels including the two recent Necromunda novels Back from the Dead and Outlander. To win this large pile of pure reading goodness just simply answer this question:

Who is Gotrek Gurnisson’s vermin-like nemesis?

If you know then type the answer in an email, with you name and address, (subject heading: Black Library Competition). The Competition is free to enter and open worldwide. The winner will be chosen at random from the batch of right answers. The closing date is Friday 26th of January. Terms and Conditions apply – please see Games Workshop’s terms of use (http://www.games-workshop.com/termsofuse.htm) for more information. Important – please note that, unlike our article writing competitions, you may only enter this competition once.

Send your entries to fanatic-andy@games-workshop.co.uk

I’ll be back early next week.

For now,
Andy @ Fanatic

And I will post a review of each article shortly.

What a bunch of crap! This is no different than the weekly submissions we used to get. Not only that, but not even a mention of the new BFG book! What the hell?

First off the editorial part is actually related to SG this time and it looked like it was going to be even better, but he was stuck in meetings - possibly defending the games. There is the note about the Warmaster Campaign Competition and a quick Competition that is interesting but means you have to be pretty well read concerning Gotrek. So overall the intro is alright and presents the opportunity for expansion should he be able to do that.

I am fairly certain the new printing of the BFG book was mentioned 2-3 weeks ago closer to its release. True that it would have been nice to have a mention here.

The Araby Army - I think it is good overall. It has background about Araby itself and about each unit. A feel for the army is not hard to get from the rules and it is well done. It also marks a true expansion to one of the SG games since going to the monthly online fanatic having both the rules and the models available.

Epic Chaos - 1) Officially adds the Chaos Space Marines and The Lost & the Damned list to the game. 2) it makes a shout out to all the players who developed the list. So the article is a decent announcement of the re-release of the chaos plastic sprue and the list becoming official. It also gives a list of the corresponding loyal minis to those that are Chaos, most important part being the Titans as these may not be immediately apparent. So while it is not a full release that everyone is used to with the core games, it is still a release.

Lecture 1! - First off I do not play Blood Bowl, but this article is very detailed and helpful for new players. 6 pages! Prof Elliot has written a detailed guide to playing humans, going through the strengths of each unit, his rosters, slight changes to the roster if you prefer certain things. General tips for Offense, Defense, and playing against different kinds of teams.

The BFG book was mentioned before christmas. And as it is already in the online stores there is no point of mentioning it in here.

I like the fact that Andy now publicly said that Epic Chaos sprues are going to be released. There was a blurb of FW or possibly SG making more minis ... that remains to be seen but a positive thing for E:A anyway,

I will say it was a definite improvement over what we have been getting. I do wish for more models/ support for the Chaos release, like if the final army lists for either chaos list had been put up at the same time as this was, or if more chaos models had actually been produced for this release, but it is at least some support for Epic even if it is just a far reduced and far pushed back release.

It's a nice article - it's just a shame that it's for the wrong version of Blood Bowl! The latest is LRB5 that came out in October last year and it makes a big change to the way the teams are comprised (there's no need for Fan Factor 9 every time...) Also the first few lines about the Halflings is just rubbish - that was a cut and paste from a different document without even checking it before it was converted to a PDF and published.

Andy should have spotted that it was no longer relevant before he posted it - I fear it just proves that they'll just post up anything on the SG website as filler as long as it involves the least amount of effort as possible. Total waste of time and effort...

they did fix the mistake, but your right that it was a stupid mistake to make and would not have hapened if Andy, or someone had taken the time to proof read the article and properly pay attention to the Specialist Games.

I thought that was a great set of articles and given that they have cut back on SG I'm very happy to see them at all. And I thought they were all interesting and fun (and definitely better than a certain other magazine...)

I would love to see Forgeworld step up and start expanding the Specialist Games miniature range. After seeing what they did with Kreig, Elysians, and Tallarns I would kill to see their take on some Necro gangs. The new Chaos Militia would make great models for 28mm Inquisitor.
