I like it sir. Did you dry brush or did you black line?

i black lined it. (with a 0.25mm draughtsmans pen)
the completed wing will consist of
4 thunderbolts (scimitar flight)
2 lightning attack (rapier flight)
2 lightning strike (sabre flight)
1 marauder bomber (broadsword flight)
1 marauder destroyer (falchion flight)

all will have the black and yellow tail fins.
the yellow nose designates the commanders aircraft.

Looks good, you lucky bastard. Some drybrushing would do you good, though. And why is there a mirrored number 1 painted on the hull? So the wing mates will look in their rearview mirror and recognise it?

Very nice sir. I'll have to find a similar pen for touch up. The wing you are working on is very similar to what I imagine, except I'm not taking Lightning Strikes and grabbing two more Lightnings. Leave the ground attack to the Marauders and Thunderbolts.

i'd love to say it was deliberate, or a picture error, but all i can say is;
oops.
i'll fix it tomorrow. :D

the aircraft has been drybrushed in areas, it just doesn't show up very well in the photo.
the lines on the wing are not very deep so they were not as distinct as i would have liked.
so i lined them with the fine pen.
i use it for most of my fine detail work (names on scrolls, writing on purity seals etc)

Er, shouldn't it be 111th? One hundred and eleventh? Just being picky :D

I'm buying two armies; Eldar and Imperial. I'm copying my Imperial air force off this paint scheme. It seems to bring out the most detail in the model: http://www.dropship.org.uk/images/thunder3.jpg props to Carl Woodrow of Dropship

I reckon I might steal that paint scheme as well, Malakai. Any idea what the colours might be? Graveyard earth and khaki brown or something?

PS: Shouldn't it be the 111th air wing? :p ;)

It's nice to see some pictures appearing - I'm also planning to go with a brown colour scheme (and there's a nice painting guide on dropship for copycats like me!).

Check out the bottom of the pic. http://www.dropship.org.uk/epic/eaf001.asp Dropship is a wonderful site for all things epic and the like. The founder a Mr Carl Woodrow has not updated it since October of '04. I'm not sure of the circumstances but I heard it was personally related. I do hope that he is well. He's one skilled hobbyist and I wish him the best.

I must say, Marv, those are very nice aeroplanes! Good to see the ol' low-vis grey making an appearance - and even better to see that the RAF lives on in the 41st Millenium. ;)

Eleventy-First as in how the hobbits say big numbers in Lotr, sigh, please read the whole thread and not just the title.

As for the models they're looking good, although what i'm really looking forward to is blowing them away with some Barracudas in couple of months when Marv gets back from the other side of the planet:)

Ah yeah, but I think you've forgot.... All hobbits should be boiled in their own juices... or maybe sliced thin and fried... hmmm hobbits. It's the fact they are reared on a mix of Ale and hallucinogenicpipe weed.

(I was right about being yelled out though.)

Personally i find Aeronautica Imperialis rather 'tasty', not only the background, but also the detail on the models and the armies in which you fight for large scale dog fights are a thing of the past, i bet some fool payed hundreads of pounds making their own sqaudren ;) [dice0]

I think that it will be good to share with you with my latest creation. It is a (an?) Ork Fighta, which I gave to my friend as a birthday present. Hope that you'll like it.

03-02-2007, 14:07
Thank you for all comments. This Fighta is almost complete. It lacks some minor details though (some wires and odd plates here and there ;)). I didn't count but it took between 5 - 7 hours (I'm rather slow painter). There will be another Fighta and GW/SG Thunderhawk (with hand made base) in the near future . :)

I thought that I might put up one of my fighta-bombaz. This one is converted from a FW fighta, so I added a rear gunner and bombs and then I added 2 Autocannons cause it looked cool.

Blue Flight

Golds One and Two and the Bomber Green One

Yes, I realise that Green One has lost a tail fin and a helstrike missile, its just accident prone.

In painting currently are Reds One and Two (lightnings)

You talking about my ork? Cause if you see the model from another angle, you'll see the ork tail gunner is about to blow the tail fin off. But Ork planes don't need them, they are for show. they steer using vectored engines.

Yeah. I'm going to have a go at that tomorrow. It was OK for my Epic models, but I think it's because the eldar were bright yellow.
