Haven't got the rulebook yet, trying to figure out what planes I should get.

I much prefer the look of the Thunderbolt, but Id like a bit of variation. What are the practical differences between the Lightning and the 'Bolt?

From what I can tell, the Lightning is quicker and more maneuverable, but with a lighter weapon loadout and less ground attack (bar Strike variant). Is there a significant difference between the Bolt and Lighting in Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground?

And similarly, between Strike and 'Bolt?

Finally, in a slightly different vein, with the AA guns, is there any difference between a Hydra platform and Hydra on chimera chassis? Or is it just classified as an unmoving 'AA Defence' type unit regardless?

Thanks for the help!

I (not having the book yet) would probably include say 4 of each in your wing, but not neccessaraly field them together

To paraphase the Umbra Squadron commander in Double Eagle: "Lightnings are for pilots that like flying. Thunderbolts are for pilots that like killing."
