I`ve never really done a showcase type of mini before, ever. In fact I`ve always put 5 or 10 minis in front of me and worked my way through them until they had a satisfactory look to them. Pretty much cause I was primarily a gamer but I liked to have my minis at least painted and based. After becoming a family man my gaming time has more or less evaporated (as other parents can tell). I think I`ve played 4 or 5 battles these last 18 months, I used to play that each month, minimum. So now I`m more of a hobbyist than a gamer, something I quite enjoy actually.

So back to the showcase part again. On da Red Tavern we decided to run a painting competition called Beauties & Beast of Medusa V (http://s11.invisionfree.com/da_Red_Tavern/index.php?showtopic=290&st=0).

Some of you might remember my Death Guard thread here and at first I just thought I`d enter with my lieutenant and be done with it. I even scrapped his face, arms and sword and re-did those. He was just ready to be painted and it was all done. Then I got an idea, "prowling the streets"...I usually tend to get ideas on other projects but this one was really cool. So I started to go through my bits cabinet and what I sat with was parts to make an ork. For the comp he`s a Warboss but for this project he will only be a Nob.

I`ll start with apologising for no WiPs, I got so caught up in the entire process of making this model that it kinda eluded me...

I started with the base. The cobbles are wall sections from the Mordheim starter set, the pipes are that thing that protects your brushes and finished it off with some gravel. Since this base is the most elaborate base I`ve ever made I made sure that it wouldn`t take away the focus on mini itself. So an easy grey colour scheme which fits the theme well enough.

Next up was the grot carrying the "re`s da boss" boss pole. I think he`s from the old Grom the Paunch model but not entirely sure. I made the banner out of greenstuff and otherwise I just painted him without anymore fuss. The banner looks more glossy on the pic than IRL which is irritating me a lot cause the banner itself turned out really good with the shape and all.

So for the Warboss himself. rdboyz lower and upper body + head. Arms from some nobs. Worked a lot on getting the right pose for him but the term "prowling" fits imo at least.
Wanted to make him really colourfull so bright red colours, bright skin (which was a nightmare to paint) and variations of brown for the shirt and trousers.
The power klaw I painted up similar to the power weapon I did on my White Scars veteran sarge, simply cause I like that effect and it adds to the colourfull part.

Finished the entire modell by adding the smallest attack squig in history. Also a splash of colour on the setting.

So next up is a weirdboy, a mekboy, painboy, BIG attack squig, some grots and a handfull of nobs + a proper Warboss. This will be done one at a time, hopefully retaining the quality of the first nob. I also think I`m gonna make a magnetised display base for this gang.

Oh dang..almost forgot the pics -lol-

more pics...

So weirdboy next :D

really nice! make it an army, id be honoured to play against an army painted that well!!!

Red Skullz
11-06-2006, 17:29
Thanks pal :D

Well I`m an orC at heart so it`s not unrealistic that this may turn into an army. Think it`ll be a pure footslogger army since it`s heavily city based.

I`ve now made the base for the weirdboy (yes I know he`s not in the current codex but since there`s a new one coming soon it`s allowed to hope isn`t it?). He`ll be flying on WAAAGH energies and the ground underneath him will be swirling and heaving.

Btw, what or how can I make a WAAAGH energy effect on him? Preferable around the staff or as a more halo like effect.

11-06-2006, 21:07
use twisty blue things that look like magic, and subtly shape some of the energy things to look like the letters waaaagh!. or something similairly subliminal messagey :D

11-06-2006, 21:44
Like the base!

Red Skullz
12-06-2006, 04:57
I think I`m gonna use some wire, shape it and then use gs to get the right look. Then it`s just to paint it neon-ish green.

Anyways here`s how the weirdboy looks so far:

So the ground heaves and moves away from him as he`s practically flying on the strong WAAAGH energies. He won`t be this angled when I`m done with him, had to fasten him with bluetac so got an idea on how it would look. So next up is paint the base, drill a hole in the weirdboy so I can fasten himand basecoat + paint.

PS: oh and the square base on the weirdboy is there for easier painting ;)

So progress has been going gruesomly (sp?) slow due to me buying some tool boxes to properly store my 11-12 years worth of bitz and pieces. Let`s say it took a lot more time than I reckoned...

Anyhoo, I`ve started painting the weirdboy. The face is entirely done and looks proper. I`m kinda wondering about some tatoos but I`ll see when I got the rest of him painted up. Oh and the base is done as well. Pics will come when I get my camera fixed.

I`ve also started building a cyboar w/rider based on George Dellapina`s Feral Orks from WD 298. Actually quite easy to make so WiPs soon.

The last thing I`m building at the moment is a warbuggy out of a Land Speeder and a SM bike. It will turn out quite good but still got a long way to go before it`s even decent enough to take a pic of -lol-

As a last thing (a bit OT but still...), the voting for the painting comp I mentioned in the first post is up and running now so go check out the great entries: http://s11.invisionfree.com/da_Red_Tavern/index.php?showtopic=591&st=0&#last

I like the idea for the Weird Boy- very cool.

Red Skullz
29-06-2006, 06:16
Oh my things are going slow aren`t they...

Okey so I`m still not done with the Weirdboy. A mega armoured nob converted into a warboss like the one on the cover of the Black Library book "Armageddon" has got in the way.

I`ve also bought a ton of stuff from a shop in Oslo that is not going to sell GW products anymore and therefore has a 30% discount on all the GW stash.

So more boyz, stormboyz, kommandos and a city worth in buidlings are on the way.

When will I ever get the time to get this stuff done :cries:

But I hope that I can get some pics running this weekend for ya`ll, it`s not that much left on the Weirdboy.

29-06-2006, 08:57
Love the banner for the nob, just says simple Orkiness to me

Red Skullz

Haha, threadomancy

This project has taken a different turn than I originally had planned. So let`s see:

This here will be my humble start in building an ork horde for 40K. My first goal is a 400 pts Border Patrol list that will look like this:

Big Mek w/Kustom Force Field, Slugga & Super Stikk Bombs

14 Slugga Boyz incl 2 Burnas & 1 Nob w/shoota/skorcha, Choppa & frags

10 Shoota Boyz incl 2 Big Shootas & 1 Nob w/Big Shoota

14 Grotz w/1 Slaver with Grabba Stick & Slugga

400 pts and 40 models on the money B)

The theme will be a Blood Axy-Flash Gitzy kinda look. Based primarily on Waaagh! Grishnak from WD 300 and 308 (he`s got a Bad Moon tribe but still).

Here`s the test model I whipped up for the first mob, a slugga boy:
So red as the "uniform/contrast" colour, and the rest with natural browns in different shades.

Here`s the unit so far:

And lastly the Big Mek I`m working on:

c&c please B)

Ah nothing like getting a storm of replies after a pic update

05-09-2006, 20:58
Nice painting. Is that an old shock attack gun the big mek has on his back?

Red Skullz
06-09-2006, 07:51
Thanks bud :)

Yeah it`s an old shokk attack gun, got the idea from the Speed Freeks thread that`s on page 2 or 3 here in project logs. The spinning gubbins on the shokk attack gun will be used a a KFF for a normal mek in a burnas unit.

I`m hoping to get in a big update this weekend:
- finished the slugga boyz unit incl burnas & converted nob
- WiPs of the shoota boyz unit incl big shootas & converted nob
- preview of some really killy grotz

06-09-2006, 17:01

Da boyz look like proper boyz, well done, and I cant wait to see that mek painted. That KFF looks really nice, great idea to use the part as that.

Good luck with painting and converting, keep them coming for us to see

Red Skullz
06-09-2006, 21:20
Thanks a lot Exo :D

Well I`m on work this entire week but from friday afternoon and the coming weeks I should be able to update quite frequently. My goal is to have the 400 pts there ready by 22. september (hey it is 40 models so it`s quite a lot). In between this I will start on a new gaming board the 12th (payday  ) + all of my buildings that haven`t even been taken out of their boxes..

So stay tuned!

Here`s a little update for ya`ll!

Finished the Slugga Boyz nob, 4 boyz and 1 burna:

Did some changes on the Big Mek as well. Changed his arms with Nob metal arms to give him some more bulk since he won`t be getting any pads. I still want to include the auspex / "KFF controller" so I think I need to add a grot that`s holding it instead.

Anyhoo, c&c please!

I really love your bases, good job on them.
One thing that needs improvment IMHO - the skin looks little flat. I'd suggest you paint the skin DA Green, then add a layer of Snot green, then ink the muscles and face with DA ink, and as a final touch - add some light Gobling Green drybrushing.

As for the rest - good work!

Red Skullz
09-09-2006, 21:20
Thanks bud! In fact I paint the skin snot green, then gobbo green and final highlights with scorpion green. Gives a smooth transition imo.

Anyhoo, update time.

Slugga Boyz all done:

And here`s an early WiP of the Shoota Boyz Nob:
Equipped with: big shoota, more dakka and avy armour.

So I`ll be starting on the Shoota Boyz now..updates tomorrow I hope.

All looks really great so far, keep it up.

10-09-2006, 22:38
Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it :D

Anyhoo, I`m trying to make some grots for this force. Now I`ve never had any proper gretchin models and the goblin pieces I`ve got left from the Fantasy range that are worth using are primarily heads and arms (+ a ton of wolf rider legs).

So I rummaged through my bitz cabinet until I found a bunch of Catachan sprues. So I cut of a good part of the legs, glued the boots on again and a gobbo head and voila:

What do you guys think? Scalewise he`s the same size as regular goblins, proportion-wise there`s nothing all to wrong, yet I`m really not to sure on what I feel...

So please, share your opinions with me.

New update:

nr 1 and 3 from the left are my converted Big Shootas, the other 2 just normal Shoota Boyz.

Oh man it`s so great when you`re ahead of schedule :D

I managed to paint up the 2 shoota boyz I had planned to do today + (!) get halfway through on the remaining 3 shoota boyz in the mob
So then I should be able to finish them off tomorrow, basecoat the nob and actually be able to start on the grotz this friday.

I just love your orks but i really do think that a few coats of testors would do them the world of wonders! :D

I just IMO dont like the gloss finish.

Keep up the great models!

rd Boyz Nob and some boyz
Just added as much armour plates as I could find, I got 14 in total of these guys so I had to do about 1/4 of them with greenstuff. Turned out pretty okay imo, still need to add details to each model though. Bags, pouches, heads, ammoclips, etc

Warboss (for small pts battles, will use a mega armoured one in larger battles).
Lots of bits and pieces that I found. He`ll be equipped with the biggest gun in the warband (still working on the gun) + avy armour since he`ll be leading the rd boyz.

This should be it for some days, hope you like m and feel free to comment :)

Yaaaaaaay revival!!! Brilliant as usual! :D

11-11-2006, 01:46
Wow, man. Just wow.

i love orks and yours rock (a tad bit shiny though).

consider your thread watched until this army is finished.

11-11-2006, 02:12
oh man, i love the ridiculous size of your big shootas. Amazing conversions.

11-11-2006, 03:36
SO AWSOME AND ORKY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they are painted extremely well (just need some dullcoat) I love how you do your guns, maybe you should do some Flash Gits next as you can do some more awsome gunners.

Red Skullz
11-11-2006, 09:09
Thanks a lot for the kind comments guys :D

About the shiny factor...it really doesn`t look like that IRL. However the blitz on the camera makes the reflection when I take the pic. Ah well, at least they are soundly protected against wear and tear ;)

As for my guns. Well I love m too -lol- Especially after I totally disintegrated an Imperial Fists army last monday by shooting ALONE

Red Skullz
13-01-2007, 18:22
Hmmf...long time between them orky updates now a days...

Ah well here`s a good one ;)

Okey so it`s only a kombi shoota/rokkit launcha but bigger the better right -lol-
Main body of the weapon is a razorback heavy bolter, rokkit is the leman russ hunter killer missile and the choppa on it is of course from the ork sprues.

Now back to the tedious job of cleaning mold lines on the remaining 26 models..

13-01-2007, 21:41
Well, you've at least succeeded in making a chainbayonet for a bolter, although it's a Heavy one!

Red Skullz
26-01-2007, 22:42
Well here`s the newest section for this thread namely "Red`s Rides"!!

I was planning during the christmas holidays about finally getting around with a mechanised army. The choice then after browsing way too much on Forge World was doing it with IG. Buuuut after thinking long and hard about it and even buying and assembling a Leman Russ I knew I was off track.

So in came the idea of converting the hell out of a bunch of IG vehicles too accompany the Red Krumpany (so long light infantry concept). I`ve made a 1500 pts list for the army, approx 750 pts more than I have assembled at the moment but I feel that I`ve now hit spot on with what I want.

Anyhoo....here`s my BattleWagon WiP.
First up the construct so far:
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/170/wip1frontbz2.th.png (http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wip1frontbz2.png)
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5613/wip2sidevj2.th.png (http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wip2sidevj2.png)

Here`s alternative 1 with what I think would be a good solution:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4925/alternative1mg8.th.png (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=alternative1mg8.png)
Will have to elevate the guntower a centimeter approx I feel + widen the platform on the back.

I really could need some good ideas here. Oh and rivets + + + will come I need ideas for the main build itself. As for weaponry/upgrades the battlewagon will have a Kannon, skorcha, TL Rokkits, 3 bolt on big shootas, armour plates, grot riggers, red paint job, searchlight & turbo boosta.

Here`s the "drivers" of the wagon, all WiP of course:
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6920/grotriderstw3.th.png (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grotriderstw3.png)
The wagon commander will of course be an ork with a very sporting officers cap.

Opinions please.

27-01-2007, 08:31
Thanks for the comment bud :)
Well I partly agree with you but after trying out some more I`ve decided on mounting the turret halfway between the original place and the roof of the drivers cabin.

Here`s a small update, wagon commander WiP. Still need to bulk out the gap between the torso and the right arm with greenstuff. Oh and of course filing away all them eagles and other IG markings.

Why should an ork care if it has eagles on it? It goes boom and dakka! What more do you need?

Anyway, great project, I love the commander especialy :D

Why does it have TWO ammo feeds? The back ammo hopper would be running ammo directly into the rounds from your chain feed on the right side.

Suggest removing one or the other feeds.

Time for a new update.
After browsing through my backcatalog of WDs I found the Ork release in Epic in issue 211. My eye caught immediately the battlefortresses pics seeing as my basic construction quite resembles them.
So with that in mind I went around and made a "tower lookout" as seen in the pics. I`m still wondering about adding a roof to it so opinions on that would be nice.

The basic shape of the platform as seen on the pics is staying. I will have to add support beams not just for looks but for added safety for my models (not very orky I know...). As for the turret I kinda feel I need to bulk it out into a more square shape. But I think I`ll wait with that until the towers are done and it`s more easy to see how the end result will turn out.

Oh and some last question.s What do you guys reckon of the skorcha and TL rokkits seen mounted on the front? I`m not quite feeling it, maybe I should just add them to the gun towers? The searchlight mounted on the drivers hut I`m happy with, but should I add 2 more lights or just add armour plates?

Building goes ahead steadily :)

After doing the tower "lookouts" I really did feel a roof was in order (again to keep the build in line with the Epic Battlefortresses). The problem when I did that was the the turret looked really puny in comparison...so like a propah mek (or at least I think so) I built a custom turret out of a movement tray (hey plasticard ain`t easy to get hold of in these parts... :( ).

Quite happy with how things are turning out. I`ve now got plenty more room for my boyz, a much more orky look of things, and it`s getting more and more fun to build for each day that passes.

Here`s a pic:

Now dat's a ded flash wagon!

I really like the forward-mounted gun the whole thing reminds me of a Lungbursta.

Red Skullz
29-01-2007, 10:54
Thanks a lot guys :D

Yeah I`m really busting my ass on getting a proper build on this one. I must say that the Epic vehicles are host to endless inspiration for proper orky vehicles! I hope I`ve incorporated some of those into this wagon.

I forgot to mention in my last post that the towers will come closer to the turret itself so it won`t look so top heavy. But still, is it to top heavy? Do I need to another another track width or maybe even some large tyres at the rear?

Red Skullz
29-01-2007, 13:09
Okey the more I looked at the towers the more I disliked them...so I took them off and added the heavy bolter sponsons instead. With some additional armour plates here and there I must say the front is now a lot more to my liking :)

The sponsons and the mounted bolter/shoota will count as bolt-on big shootas, so I will have to modify the sponson ones a bit more.

Btw, what do you guys reckon of the headlights mounted at the front? I kinda like it but I`m interested in hearing what you guys think.

So here`s the updated version:
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/5714/wip5vn0.th.png (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wip5vn0.png)

I think I`ll have to link the platform and the sponsons in some way to make an angled front of it. That way I might have a way of mounting the TL rokkits and skorcha.

Opinions if ya feel for it.

PS: sorry for doubleposting but it needed a bump anyways ;)

Red Skullz
29-01-2007, 15:54
While dwelling on what to do with the link-up between the platform and sponsons at the front I did some more work on the turret and platform:
http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3614/wip6upperbuildlj8.th.png (http://img412.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wip6upperbuildlj8.png)

Still got some minor stuff to do on the roof of the turret as well as adding some small poles and chains on the rear of the platform.

Anyways, quite happy with todays work...think I`ll take a shower and watch some tv.

PS: dang there`s a lot of traffick in project logs today, I think it took only 30 minutes before I was off the first page :wtf:

Red Skullz
30-01-2007, 22:45
Some minutes here and some minutes there really pays off actually. I`ve not managed to get a proper sitdown with the battlewagon today but I snuck in some time here and there as mentioned which really was productive.

Best part with today was that I finally "cracked" the code for the front of the platform where the remaining weapon mounts where going. So you`ll see the TL rokkits there as well as the skorcha. The TL rokkits are only two SM rokkits glued together, the skorcha is a heavy melta/flamer. I mounted the weapons on the lower half of the streetlights that comes with the CoD sprues. Worked like a charm since they`re stable without needing any magnets or pins :)
Other than that I`ve added some bits and pieces to the front. Some more lights as well as some smoke launchers. Just for show really, not a lot of use in them on ork armour

Now I only need to wait for my order so that I get the extra tracks but I`ll work some more on the rear of the wagon in the meantime.

Ah well bedtime, gotta get up early tomorrow...

Getting some painting done while I wait for plasticard and more vehicles to kit bash.

Started on the rd Boyz unit since that`s the largest unit I`ve got to do.

First up are some WiPs. I`ve "rdened" them up a bit more than the previous ones I`ve shown. Just added as much plates I could spare.
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2096/wiprdboyzjw2.th.png (http://img208.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wiprdboyzjw2.png)

Then it`s some PiPs. As you can see I`m quite messy at this stage. I never tidy stuff up until I`ve got all the base colours on and started on the nitpicky stuff.
http://img480.imageshack.us/img480/8699/piprdboyzxr7.th.png (http://img480.imageshack.us/my.php?image=piprdboyzxr7.png)

Here are the ones I`ve finished so far. Only 11 left and a nob :)

New update since I got my order today :D not the plasticard though...

This is something I`ve been thinking about for a really long time..."da Senti-Dragsta". As I think I`ve mentioned some time back my force is loosely based on a Bad Moons / Blood Axe theme so when the idea of using vehicles with my Red Krumpany came it was obvious that I would use IG vehicles exclusively and just kitbash the hell out of them. Hence the idea of a sentinel converted into a dragster came, in gaming terms it will function as a warbuggy and this one will be with TL Rokkits.
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9774/sentidragstawip1vi3.th.png (http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sentidragstawip1vi3.png)

As you can see I`ve mainly used the upper portion of the sentinel. Originally I hoped that I could use the legs as the chassis but for anyone with any knowledge of that kit knows it`s no use.
Still got a lot of work left on it but the main build is done and now just needs to dry off.

Comments please.

Damn, I's tempted again to collect Orks. It happens occassionally when I see really well executed things - be it paintjobs, conversions, modelling or new official models like the ones that accompanied Medusa V.

03-02-2007, 21:46
Red Skullz, does your skin pigment have a greenish tone? It's a common symptome amongst real 'ardcore greenskin players.

Red Skullz
03-02-2007, 21:49

Well if I ain`t green on the outside I`m definitely green on the inside ;)

PS: I`m taking the rdcore greenskiner as a compliment!

03-02-2007, 21:51
Great; you should do! :D

The limousine style buggy is excellent! Scrappy, unfunctional and yet working in its own orky way.

Red Skullz
03-02-2007, 21:52
Thanks :D

I say go for it! Orks or Orcs are the best there is anyways. Maybe not in gameterms always but they sure are one of the great ones when it comes to converting and the like :)

As for Medusa V or rather cityfight I would say it`s given the hordy ones a major lift. I run a narrative campaign where we`ve so far played only on omega level cityterrain. Through 11 games I`m unbeat ;)

Nah enough bragging...

Red Skullz
03-02-2007, 21:56
Thanks again :D

Yeah it turned into something freakishly funny in the end even if I had my doubts initially. I just love how the dude on the rear with the Rokkits are looking through the optics...too funny when you know they got BS:2 -lol-

For my next buggy I`m going for trakks on the rear. I need more stability there since it`s kitted with a Mega Blasta. I have no clue how it`s supposed to look like so I`m thinking super-sized gun mounted on 1 sentinel leg with an ork operator beside it. Of course the next one will also be dragster themed.

03-02-2007, 21:58
Hah; looking forward for it! :)

Got a couple more rd Boyz done:
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/6397/rdboyz56av13ou0.th.png (http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rdboyz56av13ou0.png)

Here`s the unit so far. Only got the three rokkit boyz, 3 normal boyz and the nob left:
http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/8569/rdboyz6completedrb5.th.png (http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rdboyz6completedrb5.png)

Since I`m waiting until I can get to a toystore to get some wheels for my rides I`m waiting to do anything on them. So I assembled the storm boyz and the nob:
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1309/stormboyzwiprk4.th.png (http://img19.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stormboyzwiprk4.png)
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/7568/stormboyznobwipgg5.th.png (http://img387.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stormboyznobwipgg5.png)
The arms of everyone in this unit will be bulked out by using this guide Green stuffing arms - 101. (http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22926) Will make them look more "elite" compared to the Slugga/Trukk Boyz. The nob has got the head and powerklaw from the kommandos nob, rd boyz torso and 2 rockets from the IG vehicle sprues as the jump pack. Still have to add the front part to the jump pack on the nob.

Red Skullz

More work done on the Senti-Dragsta.

Been thinking a lot about the wheels recently so I`ve scoured my biyz boxes endlessly lately...
When I found some IG tank tracks I got an idea however, what if I stuck two round bases together and put the tracks on? Well it kinda worked

So this is the result:
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/746/sentidragstawip2od9.th.png (http://img236.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sentidragstawip2od9.png)

Got a bit more of a rural feel to it now but I don`t mind really. I`ve put in two alternatives.
1: is with the small front wheels
2: is with the SM bike wheels

So which one of those fits best? I`m not sure personally actually, quite like both solutions. Oh and about the new rear wheel. Is it to thin or fine as is?

Opinions and possible alterations on the build please.

06-02-2007, 18:22

I'm gonna have to echo Voronwe's comments, Orks look like a really fun army to collect...I consider from time to time making an army of them after my guard.

Awesome conversions, and I look forward to seeing more, especially your Hulkified Orkses!

Thanks a lot scrubout :)

Yeah I`ve been in this hobby for approx 13 years. From the 1st year until the 9th year I`ve played numerous armies and games but I really never settled with one. Wasn`t until the release of 6th ed in Fantasy and I saw the new range for orcs that I was caught. I tried when I started with 40K again after a 10 year long break from it some different armies, SM and CSM but nah...didn`t work for me.

So the Red Krumpany is now my main army for 40K and I`m aiming it at 1500 pts. 70% footsloggers the rest in vehicles. I`m and infantryman at heart :D
(I also have a Pirate Orc Warband for Fantasy and an Orc BB team).

The point with all this scrubout is that you DEFINITELY should collect greenskins (mark my wording there, this accounts for all game systems) cause when you`ve first get started with them you see the (green) light and will never look back!

Back OT again:
Only got two choppa/slugga rd boyz, 3 rokkit rd boyz and the nob left and this unit will be all done. Hope to have it all complete sometime this sunday.

Red Skullz
07-02-2007, 06:41
Thanks a lot there bud :)

Well the vehicles will be painted last in my army I think. At least need to build all of my vehicles before I start to paint any of them so that I know everything "build-wise" is how I want it to be :)

07-02-2007, 10:47
The tractor vehicle is sweet indeed; you army'll definitely look good when everything's finished.

07-02-2007, 10:48
Very, very good.

Red Skullz
07-02-2007, 12:57
Thanks bud, you`re way to kind :)

07-02-2007, 13:40
Nope - there isn't too many Ork forces around which have got the amount of thought and work and fun put into them that they deserve, but yours is one. ;)

Red Skullz
07-02-2007, 13:53
Thanks :D

Well I`ve recently put all the stuff I need to do with this army in a worklist where I prioritise:

5 rdboyz + Nob
Warboss incl 1 ammo runt and boss pole banna wavah
5 Shoota Boyz
4 Grotz
6 Trukk boyz + Nob
5 Burna Boyz + grot helper (for the mek)
6 Storm Boyz + Nob
38 models in total still neeeded to be finished. So with the initial 400 pts list containing 40 models that took me 2,5 weeks to finish I should actually be able to get all the boyz done in a short amount of time. Buuuut as I move next week it`ll probably take a month or so :)

So all in all it will be a 1500 pts list with 92 models, 1 battlewagon, 2 trukks and two warbuggies.
Not halfbad for starters -lol-

Red Skullz
07-02-2007, 13:54

Here`s 2 out of 3 rokkit boyz for the mob, only 3 boyz and the nob left meaning I should be able to finish the entire mob by the end of sunday!

Nice orks :) The skin looks a little flat to me though.

Red Skullz
10-02-2007, 11:49
Thanks Anardakil :)

It might be the pic cause it`s 4 layers of green tones in that green mix of mine.

On another note I`ve got two more done and only the nob and the last boy left :D

10-02-2007, 14:32
Your orks really look awesome!! I really like how you have done the skin and those superbig gun conversions :D

Red Skullz
12-02-2007, 19:14
Cheers bud!

More orky goodness :D

First up are some more shoota boyz, only got a big shoota left and I`m done with this mob.

Then it`s the last 4 boyz in my rd Boyz unit. Really happy I got this unit out of the way quite fast as it was the largest mob of the stuff I`m making for the 1500 pts list.

Hope ya like m and feel free to comment ;)

Red Skullz
12-02-2007, 19:15
Here`s another step forward on the Senti Dragsta. Basically riveting and glyphs that lacks now. Since I went for the smallest front wheels I`m gonna position it on a base so that it looks like he`s accelarating so fast that it`s only the rear wheels that touches the ground.

Hope ya like it and feel free to comment ;)

12-02-2007, 19:20
I dunno, a slight highlight of the teeth might be in order?

Ork teef are supposed to be dirty, but I prefer mine a tad lighter than that...

Otherwise splendidly executed and painted :D

Red Skullz
12-02-2007, 21:21
Thanks :D

Yeah I know the teeth issue but it`s all about alienating (sp?) them more from humanoids ya know, or at least an attempt to do so -lol-

Don`t know how much I`ll manage to do the coming week due to me moving and all..hopefully get the last boyz for the 750 pts list done sometime the coming weekend.

12-02-2007, 21:22
Excellent boyz! They have as much equipment and scrap on them as orks should have (it looks odd when they don't), well done! :)

12-02-2007, 21:24
That dragsta is so damn nice, so bloody orky. Great!

12-02-2007, 21:55
good job! I like the rivet work on the battlewagon epecially. not sure i'd cut up a leman russ for guns tho :S

Red Skullz
12-02-2007, 22:52

Red Skullz
12-02-2007, 22:55

You know Angel I`ve lost my "don`t mess with this or that" mentality on my minis years ago. I`ll chop up anything to get the bits or the conversion I want ;) Heck I`m even close to chop up some of my son`s lego toyz. Some great wheels there

After moving into a new apartement I haven`t had a lot of time to do anything hobby related. Also the dial-up in this area is rather low...haven`t received my broadband yet :(

I did manage to organise a massive carnage match for the narrative campaign I`m running with 7 participants! All 3 factions in the campaign was present. We had the following teams in the game:
Imperial Coalition #1: Imperial Fists & Catachans
Imperial Coalition #2: Dark Angels & Grey Knights
Unknown Factions: Eldar & Necrons (weird I know, but hey it worked!)
Xenos & Heretics: ME!!

Well to make a long and great battle short...I won
(keeping my undefeated streak against all odds)

I received my plasticard in the middle of the move so I didn`t have time to open it until yesterday. Several work hours later I present this:
My Hot-Rod Skorcha Buggy!

My fav vehicle so far. Entire chassis and body is a scratchbuild, wheels from some army toy I got cheap, bits and pieces from the tank sprues. Some of you vets might recognise the engine at the back. Well after making a deal with OP Master N I got three old jump packs and some other archive stuff, he got some bikes in return for his Ravenwing. So very happy about that deal to put it like that!

Feel free to comment!

20-02-2007, 23:09
These vehicles are so frikkin awesome! Can we expect an equally converted amount of orks to go in these sweet rides?

Red Skullz
21-02-2007, 08:27
Cheers akamanah :D

Well I do have a blog for the horde my rides will follow right here ;)

Mostly my HQs, Elites and Nobz which has been converted. With something between 90 and 100 minis in my 1500 pts list I just didn`t feel up for it lol.

I`ve also started work on the last TL Rokkits buggy. The chassis is the sentinel hut and the frame that the dozer blade usually is attached to. Plan to have a more classic 60s american ride look to that one. Pics will come when it`s worth showing ;)

21-02-2007, 15:00
Great Hot-rod Skorcha! I wonder if anyone have done this before?

Red Skullz
22-02-2007, 09:28
Thanks Voronwe :D
I have no idea actually, hope not

Here`s the final buggy, a TL Rokkit equipped one:

Man now I gotta go over both the Dragsta and the Battlewagon to get them in line with these two last buggies

Red Skullz
25-02-2007, 00:03
Dang it sucks not to have my internet up and running...had to hijack my GFs PC so luckily I have all the links I need stored on my hotmail account..

Oh and with the helpfull Inquisition of Warseer my "Prowlin da Streets" and "Red`s Rides" threads have been merged into this one, "Red Krumpany". Makes sense after all since both threads covered the same army lol

Anyways..been building on all three buggies (even tried them out in a game some days ago, worked like a charm!) so that I get them at an equal standard so to speak. Okey on to the pics:
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/9541/hotrodwip2cd4.th.png (http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hotrodwip2cd4.png)
The Hot-Rod buggy I feel is the closest to finished of them all. Even looted Krooza`s way of basing it. Really happy with this bad boy (especially after it barbequed that IG mortar squad!). Not a lot done since last time except more rivets and the base of course.

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6084/speedstahwip2ie2.th.png (http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=speedstahwip2ie2.png)
Not an awfull lot more done on the Speedster either. Just more rivets and a base.

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/3075/sentidragstawip4pr4.th.png (http://img247.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sentidragstawip4pr4.png)
Well I kinda have to laugh when it comes to the Senti-Dragsta. Man this build has gone through a lot of different changes, but I felt after building the other two that I needed a last go at this one as well. Now I am happy with it! The only add on here will be too complete the base (front part of the base will be elevated more), rivets and a dead SM mounted on the front to cover up the gap between the front end and the engine.

I`ve also started on the first trukk. Will be a heavy kitbash from my chimera kit as well a lot of plasticard. Aiming for an old-school truck look with it, but with trakks on the rear part. Pics sometime this week.

Opinions if ya like ta give m ;)
